The CW has officially pulled the plug on Cult and has yanked the struggling drama from its Friday lineup after 7 episodes. There are no immediate plans to air the show's 6 remaining episodes. Filling its slot will be re-runs of The Carrie Diaries and Oh Sit. This news has been confirmed via series creator Rockne S. O'Bannon on Twitter:

The TCD is a distraction. They’re repeating a single episode of TCD before airing regular repeats of Oh Sit.

  • solelle

@ charmed try Grimm it is on fridays and it is ok.

  • Chis

Can alaric come back to Mystic Falls now?

  • anon

LOL Yeah Jared, I totally agree with you. CW should have moved 90210 back to Monday at 8pm for the remainder of its season, which is what…5 episodes? Personally, I intend to watch the rest of 90210, and not ‘Oh Sit’, which looks like a reworking of ‘Double Dare’ for adults…lol. XD ;P

Matt Davis could come back to the Vampire Diaries :)

  • gerry

wow, cult couldn’t even pull of a burnoff. ouch.

i would like to think TCD being re-aired bodes well, but it probably doesn’t.

  • TV Gord

I’m glad to see The Carrie Diaries get a try-out in another time slot. It does sound as though The CW is behind this series, despite the poor ratings, and that’s not a bad thing.

  • John A

I dont watch it but How unfare not to air the last 6. Loser Nikita only did 1 tenth better than it last week.

  • dude

I get that basically anything could pull better ratings but pulling it from the schedule doesn’t exactly back up Pedowitz “giving fans closure” mantra. I feel like they should have just aired the episodes before cancelling it. I never watched but I feel like the remaining episodes should be made available on their website or something so the people who do like the show can watch.

“I dont watch it but How unfare not to air the last 6. Loser Nikita only did 1 tenth better than it last week.”

Now that you’ve gotten your daily Nikita dose of haterade, do you feel better now?

It was only a matter of time before one of you brought up Nikita in this unrelated topic.

  • Tom

It’s been obvious since the beginning; it’s a wonder it took this long.

That said, why TCD repeats? Is it just because they have rights to reair them once (I believe) for free, or are they trying to pump enough life into it for it to be a realistic spackle option?

  • CrimTV

If CW renew TCD over BATB, they are stupid, it is getting consistant 0.3’s and 0.4’s in it’s first season!

  • CrimTV

    @Chris, Domca

No he can’t come back to TVD, and yes you know why!

  • rob60990

Carrie Diaries reruns? lmao, expect a 0.0 at some point.

  • Charmed

@CrimTV It only got one 0.3, you should check the definition of consistent next time.

  • Ted Craig

    @CrimTV

They’re not stupid if advertisers prefer TCD to BATB.

  • John A

Matt Davis should have stayed on TVD. I suppose he thought he could lead a show which he couldnt. He was only decent on TVD anyway.

  • Guardian Owl

Now I’m glad I jumped ship after the first 2 episodes as I would have been highly annoyed having to wait to see the last few episodes.

  • Dave

“Matt Davis should have stayed on TVD. I suppose he thought he could lead a show which he couldnt. He was only decent on TVD anyway.”

Don’t you think if he could’ve stayed he would’ve? He clearly stated in an interview that Julie approached him that Season 3 was going to be the end of his character. Then, the network approached him with Cult and he took on the project. The show was crap and had nothing to do with him being the lead.

  • Maggie

this was my mindless fun show :(
