The CW has officially pulled the plug on Cult and has yanked the struggling drama from its Friday lineup after 7 episodes. There are no immediate plans to air the show's 6 remaining episodes. Filling its slot will be re-runs of The Carrie Diaries and Oh Sit. This news has been confirmed via series creator Rockne S. O'Bannon on Twitter:

If You want to sell your show or want your show to be watch by many people, don’t give it to CW

cult is good it is quite interesting and the way it is done makes you think why not just put it on another night it might do better, and as for the last episodes I hope they air them as I for one would like to see them, its a shame they did not have time to right an ending of some sort.

Are you kidding me? Why couldn’t they just finish the season like the secret circle

  • GladIWaited

I’m glad I Tivo’d it and haven’t had time to watch it yet. I would’ve been mad if it had been pulled mid-storyline after I’d just gotten hooked. I despise and boycott all things Fox for doing that exact same thing. I guess I’ll just delete it off the Tivo and forget it ever existed.

Oh my God!!! Really??? I love the actors, love the show. It’s no where near “copying” The Following. Two COMPLETELY different shows. Please Renew it!!! Please please please!!!!

  • nathalie

i dont care about nothing upset carrie diary so dont cancelle that

  • Angel

Good riddance, Cult! Now, I get a better chance at seeing renewals for Nikita and Hart of Dixie. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

I really enjoyed this show and I’m quite upset at the cancellation, But, I’m not surprised. Seeing as the CW’s target audience has to be mostly female ages 13-35 ( just not a good fit for most of that demographic. they’re more into poorly written sparkly vampire romances and things of that nature ) I hope that sy-fi picks this up since I think it would be a good fit, but i doubt it will happen. It’s just another example of good shows getting cancelled some because of wrong time slot/wrong network and it’s been happening to a few shows I love Fringe, Ugly Americans, Awake, to name a few and now I can add cult to that list :(

  • Kate

I really hope beauty and the beast gets a season 2!!!

  • Couch

I simply cannot believe they canceled Cult!! It seems every moderately interesting show goes to the circular file cabinet ( I.E. garbage can!) whilst ridiculously lame shows go on for 10 years or longer!!!! Ha ha ha….

All that aside, I really couldn’t see it becoming a “classic” but it was WAAAAAAAY better than the following where theyportray the FBI as a bunch of bumbling nincompoops who seem to only travel in 2 person teams wiwithout backup…EVER!!! I wouldn’t even watch the Following except that James Purefoy is a brilliant actor. At least when Cult had something stupid happen it was understandable because these were civilians who were not trained in Quantico’sBehavioral Sciences Division!!!!
I cannot see how the Following has been picked up for another season?!?

But the Cult was always going to be a fill-in so I expected it to be cut…even though it ruins my belief in the whole TVs/film industry! Oh well…Que sera sera, right people??
    Better luck next time!
