Innovative Late-Night Series Breaks Ground With Interviews and Performances from Emerging and Iconic Cutting-Edge Musicians

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — April 10, 2013 — NBC has renewed its innovative late-night series “Last Call with Carson Daly,” acclaimed as TV’s unofficial music tastemaker, for a 13th season, it was announced by Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC.

"We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Carson who has broken the mold, creating  his own unique late-night show format with ‘Last Call,’“ said Telegdy.   “The show has  become a platform for emerging artists – and Carson’s engaging interview style has made it the place for insightful conversations with an eclectic group of new stars as well as established icons and news makers."

“Last Call with Carson Daly,” which airs weeknights at 1:35 a.m., continues to push the boundaries of late-night television. In each episode “Last Call” hits the streets and takes the entire show on location, introducing his audience to the stories you simply won’t find anywhere else.

“I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished with ‘Last Call,’” said Daly, who has been at the helm of the show since it launched in 2002. “I love coming to work every day and having the opportunity to collaborate with this incredible team. We are always looking to give viewers something new and fresh that they can’t find anywhere else on television. I’m grateful to have the chance to continue doing what I love the most.”

The youngest-skewing weeknight late-night series on ABC, CBS and NBC, “Last Call” has garnered acclaim for its gritty documentary style.  Highlights from the past season include conversations with deadmau5 and Grammy Award-winning artist Kimbra. Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran and fun all made their TV debuts on “Last Call.”

Daly is also the host of NBC’s hit music competition “The Voice,” which has returned for its fourth season this spring with stellar ratings across key demos and in total viewers. In addition to “The Voice,” Daly is host of NBC’s annual two-hour “New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly,” where he rings in the year from Times Square in New York City.  Previously, Daly was host of MTV’s popular afternoon show “Total Request Live” where he helped break in new artists.

“Last Call with Carson Daly” is produced by Universal Television. Stewart Bailey and Guy Oseary are the executive producers.

He hasn’t got any viewers, but I’m happy for him and his family.

  • Ralph Hahn

I stopped watching this show years ago because of the wacky way that it was shot. Color to B&W, back to color, watching Carson talking into a camera, then switching back to B&W to see Carson facing in the other direction talking to same camera…MTV-style. That’s one reason why Americans have such a short attention span.

Don’t really get why people watch him. Cardboard has more personality than him

  • Michael

Cancel this and bring back TRL! Hehe….

  • TV Addict

Does he still do this? Shouldn’t he be exclusive to The Voice by now?

  • Brad

I use to really enjoy his show if I’m up that late. His show is in syndication on Fuse TV so he does viewers outside NBC. I think it is a neat, cheap little show. Definitely a keeper.

  • Martin

In other words, renewed for final season until alec baldwins proposed new show takes over.

  • Anthony

He hasn’t got any viewers, but I’m happy for him and his family.

His show airs at 1:35 in the morning. There aren’t many viewers watching ANY shows at that time, and his show is one of, if not the highest rated airing in that time slot.

  • Ralph Hahn

@Michael: TRL is an MTV show.

I say cancel: “Last Call” and reinstate Bob Costas with “Later.”

  • Anon

Bob Costas is too busy getting fitted for his Sochi toupée.

  • Iggy

In other words, renewed for final season until alec baldwins proposed new show takes over.

I think so. He can start conducting interviews and taping episodes immediately.

The New Normal is dead in the water, but this loser gets season number 13???

  • Watch TNA on Thursday at 8/7c on SPIKE

The New Normal sucks and should get cancelled.

Give my girl Whitney her deserved renewal. She should’ve gotten his slot too because her talk show was awesome before it was cancelled on E!

  • rgxx

I don’t get him either…and on the Voice when the Battle Rounds start he introduces the challengers really loud over the crowd – then just before they sing he says in a wimpering tone – “let the battle begin”….

when he should say it with tha thunderous tone LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!!!!

Might Carson Daly get an upgrade to 12:30 A.M. Eastern/Pacific after the Winter Olympics end (and Alec Baldwin get the 1:30 A.M. slot)??
