Before anyone says anything I meant that compared to last weeks raings that GH went up the most.

  • diana

Yay GH – loved having Jack Wagner & Rick Springfield back, the excitement’s kinda gone for me now. But I’m still watching as long as Genie Francis is around. Wish Tristan Rogers would return. :(

  • Jeff

Good for GH, up over previous week and a lot of previous year. All the soaps up over last year. I think GH did get a lot of promotion, but not as much as it could have gotten (same with Y&R), and I know viewership is less this time of year than other times of year. I don’t think GH had much story climax during this week, it was to hook viewers, and I think they did great! GO GH!

GH’s ratings year-to-year are phenomenal my only problem with GH is that it feels like the show is on an island by itself much like DAYS on NBC. The show has to keep itself hot at all times. Good 50th anniversary week for them.

DAYS might be spring back up here in the coming months its really just starting to get good again with this Chloe stuff and now the Cameron mystery storyline.

Y&R and B&B numbers are amazing for CBS as their daytime division has done a great job of restructuring itself after the bad press from the GL and ATWT cancellations.

Nice to see jack off JayTN with his continued hating. I am glad you spend so much time calling me names. If you think I am concerned about it you are wrong. The bottom line is last summer you and your buddy Richard(who now posts as Mike) spent all your time saying how horrible GH is, how it wouldn’t last, etc.

Now here we are with GH’s numbers up huge from one year ago, the network very happy with the show so you twist things to make the show look bad

Then you try to say I said it would beat Y&R which sorry jack off JayTN I never said that.

I think based on what a couple other posts said the TN must stand for Totally Nuts.

But keep on hating jack off Jay it is quite comical

Way to go Frank, Ron, cast and crew of GH, you have improved not only the ratings, but the show is fantastic.

  • David

So lets look at the postive to get away from all the haters

GH is number one in Female 18-34
GH is up almost 130,000 viewers in Female 18-49 since one year ago
GH is up over 1/2 million viewers from one year ago

not great but certainly not terrible for GH. It was a solid week with the return of Rachel Ames even if it was only for a day. I enjoyed the Nurses Ball too for the most part.

I can’t believe Y&R is holding up solidly, and way up from last year. Was Maria Bell seriously worse than Jill Phelps?

  • janiecec

Days of Our Lives gets no support or promotion from NBC. They are the worst network…General Hospital gets some promo from the network…Makes a huge difference…Days is the best>>>>!!!!!!

  • PatF

Maria’s stories were not the best. Josh G has turned that issue around for the show.

The problem is that Jill has changed some important things that don’t need changing, but other than that I am cautiously optimistic.

  • Derrick

Rob, yes!! As what Pat wrote, JG DID turned things around at Y&R!!
JFP changed the music which was a NO NO!!!!!

  • JayTN

I love your new nickname for me Dumb David, but isn’t it you who spends all of his time jacking off to the thoughts of Ron and Frank? Maybe a threesome with those two hacks is in your future. You probably think that if you spend enough time kissing their a$$es, you’ll get to kiss something else?

  • David

LMAO Jackoff Jay, are you mad bro? Sure seems like it. Meanwhile I am sitting here laughing because you are honestly quite funny. Keep it coming and of course keep on hating Jackoff Jay.

No surprise GH couldn’t hit 3 million this time around – the prior week they were pulling 1.8, and 1.9. With all the money ABC spent on promoting, and bringing back the vets it’s a shame they only received a small bump. GH still hasn’t figured out that their writing is what keeps them behind the competition, it’s just gimmick writing penned by Cavallari with lots and lots of stunts and no real meat for their viewers. Sometimes I still can’t believe that GH was the show that help to bring so much awareness to Aids/HIV. Now GH caters to a the fly by night immature crowd that aren’t looking to invest daily. Stories that drag on for months loses interest fast.

Unfortunately for GH there aren’t 50th anniversaries to celebrate weekly, or Nurses ball’s to perform at daily. The vets will have to return home at some point, and along with them so goes their rating ‘bump.’ I suspect GH will be back to it’s old self in the coming weeks, but lucky for them the network expectations are so low that GH has managed to buy itself some more time before joining Prospect Park online.

  • robert sprague

way to go gh. now lets get rid of Brenda im sick of her already.

  • David

@Bex actually most of the vets are staying. Confirmed to be staying around are Kin Shriner (Scotty), Genie Francis (Laura), Lynn Herring (Lucy), Finola Hughes(Anna), Ian Buchanan (Duke). These are all confirmed to be around long term. Vanessa Marcil(Brenda) will be around for awhile to do a story arc.

RC and FV have promised surprises to continue this month and big surprises and stuff coming for May sweeps.

The president of ABC daytime was a fan of GH growing up and is behind keeping the show on the lineup. WIth the numbers it is doing the network is very happy with it. Yes they could do better but its far from abysmal. The network even in its press release include the GH website page viwes and tweets. First time I’ve really seena network do that which tells you they are at least looking at those things. GH is doing great in the key demos etc.

It cracks me u that people like Jay The Jerk and others who try to make out these numbers to be horrible. GH’s ratings not just for this week but for the last few months have increased over 1/2 million. Not many prime time shows can boast year to year increases like that.

  • Tim

Days of our lives has been so good the last month, its should be going up in the ratings…not down…..anyway…no matter what i can’t wait for it lately to come on,it doesn’t get any better than this, hopefully in may it will take off again….so disappointed about the ratings…tim a “Days” fan for 36 years…..

  • Alicia

Having a friend in the president of the network is a big plus for GH. Look at NBC with the show “Smash.” That show has gotten terrible ratings for two years and costs a lot of money to make, but the president of NBC and his wife enjoy it, so it has stayed on longer than most shows with similar ratings. It should be pointed out that General Hospital has more viewers than “Smash,” in spite of being on daytime instead of primetime. It’s doing okay. It could do better with more ABC promotion.

  • Jeff

All the money ABC spent? There was no radio or big tv campaign that I am aware of. All the promotion was cross-promotion with other ABC shows. That doesn’t really cost them money. The View, The Chew, Katie, 20/20 (on a Saturday night), Good Morning America, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, all are just PR opportunities. ABC doesn’t really spend money on promoting GH, just like the other networks don’t really promote their shows either. They do a lot with a little, and get crap for it by a bunch of haters.

If you enjoy your soap, enjoy it. If you don’t like a soap, then don’t. The world will keep on spinning. All of this back and forth VERY personal attack nonsense on these boards reveal a lot more than people’s thoughts about soaps.

  • Mike

This is not ratings related but wanted to share it with my fellow Y&R fans.

Just saw on Twitter that Corbin Bernsen is asking for prayers for his mother Jeanne Cooper. Basically he says his plea for prayers is not to announce “finality” but to ask that her fans have her in their thoughts.

He said he would give more details later.

All that can be gathered from his Tweets is she is very ill at this point.
