This week's episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Vince Vaughn and  with musical guest Miguel averaged a 2.8  adults 18-49 rating in the 25 markets with local people meters, up a tenth from the 2.7 that last week's SNL (hosted by Melisssa McCarthy) earned.

via press notes:

In Late-Night Metered-Market Household Averages for Saturday night:
  • "Saturday Night Live," with host Vince Vaughn and musical guest Miguel, averaged a 4.6/12 in metered-market households, equaling its overnight rating for the same night last year.
  • In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, last night's “Saturday Night Live” averaged a 2.8 rating, 13 share in adults 18-49.  "SNL" delivered the top rating of the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in the Local People Meters, out-rating all primetime programming on those networks.  The 2.8 matches "SNL's" second-highest rating in five months (since November 3), trailing over that span only the March 9 telecast, hosted by Justin Timberlake (3.7/18). Versus the same night last year, "SNL" is up 4 percent in the Local People Meters (2.8 vs. 2.7).

  • @JoeyDavid

I don’t know why, I didn’t laugh once, it was horrible.

  • Ricky

Now this was more like it! After the sad lousiness of Melissa McCarthy’s turn last week, this was a very welcome breath of fresh air. I’m just hoping against hope that the Stormy Skies soap bit doesn’t become as overplayed and unfunny as the Californians, but knowing the SNL people it probably will. At least this one is better in that it relies more on punnery than stupid stereotypes.

  • Samuel

Uhm, why?! Melissa deserves higher numbers than this idiot.

  • Antonio

Apparently the general public begs to differ.

  • MM

    I agree!!
I suspect at least I hope it was because of ‘Miquel’ the Musical guest.
His sexy self was the only good thing about this weekends edition of SNL!

  • DougF

No. It was because of Daft Punk fans tuning in to see if another ad would be run for their new album.

  • brutony

Theyre ALL lousy! Didnt laugh, only groaned!

  • Liz

Vince is dreamy. Thought he was and unexpectedly good host.

  • Rebecca

I’ll watch it online some time soon. I love Vince Vaughn. Is it true this was the last new show of the season? Futoncritic’s site shows all reruns starting next week. Thought they’d run with new hosts through May, at least.

  • Joseph

    What’s wrong with this picture?:

“Saturday Night Live” drew more viewers between 18 and 49 at 11:30 P.M. ET/PT than ABC, CBS, and NBC did combined in prime-time.

In my opinion, Kate McKinnon truly became a breakout star in this episode. She is able to always make me laugh even in a weak skit. She has become really reliable as a player and next year should move up to repertory players. She is not only the funniest female but she can hang with Bill Hader.

  • Freyja

This is still on? WOW I remember when it was actually funny back in the 80’s ;)

  • Ricky

@Rebecca: Dunno where you heard that, but it’s not true. There’s at least two shows set for May, one with Zach Galifianakis (don’t think I spelled that right) and the other with Chris Pine.

  • Nick

Next new show is May 2. With probably the season finale on the 9th.

  • Rebecca

Good to know. Like I said, the reruns were posted on futoncritic’s schedule. Looking forward to Zach G. Just watched Vince Vaughn…it was okay, better than last week. I hate when hulu doesn’t show all the sketches. They still don’t have a clip from McCarthy’s show where there was some kind of ham contest? Haven’t seen it, and I’ve seen people say it was the best of the night.

  • Rebecca

Thanks. May 4th and 11th, more likely (Saturdays).

  • Rebecca

Yep. Kate McKinnon is awesome. I call her “crazy eyes.”

  • Jim

Both of the last two weeks show weren’t funny at all. Disappointed in Vince Vaughn’s. Thought it would have been much better!

  • pirate1303

SNL has lost its edge in the last several years, and especially now since LM has set his sights on being king of late night.

SNL is not funny, too reliant on sex jokes that weren’t funny 10 years ago and guest who don’t hack it.

Forget the numbers-it was painful to see Vince Vaughan do his opening act in the audience-the only thing worthwhile is weekend update.

Have the writers gone on strike?
