Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for CBS (Masters Overrun and subsequent scrambled shows) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. CBS was delayed 57 minutes in the Eastern and Central time aones due to Masters coverage.  See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

CBS was  number one among adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

CBS primetime was delayed 57 minutes in the Eastern and Central time zones due to Masters coverage. Though the golfers thoughtfully kept their overtime to nearly an hour, theoretically sliding each primetime program forward an hour, all of the CBS ratings should still be taken with a large grain of salt.  So, with that caution, here are some probably inaccurate comparisons. On CBS, 60 Minutes garnered a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating up 71 percent from last week’s 1.4. The Amazing Race earned a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating down 13 percent from a 2.3 on April 2. The Good Wife scored a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating up 13 percent from a 1.5 on April 2.  The Mentalist aired after primetime so no numbers are available at this time.

On FOX, The Cleveland Show earned a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating down  31 percent from a 1.6 last week when it aired at 9:30 and down 15 percent from a 1.1 on March 17 when it last aired in the time period. The Simpsons garnered a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating down 18 percent from a 2.2 on March 19. Bob’s Burgers scored a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating down 6 percent from a 1.7 on March 24. Family Guy garnered a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating down 8 percent from a 2.6 on March 24.  American Dad notched a 2.0 down 13 percent among adults 18-49 from a 2.3 on March 24.

On NBC, All-Star Celebrity Apprentice scored a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating up 21 percent from last week’s 1.4.

On ABC, a Once Upon A Time clip show garnered a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Are the networks going to pre-empt tonight’s programming in order to cover the aftermath of the Boston bombings?

  • TVGuy

YIKES for The Simpsons. Hopefully it can get back above 2 for the rest of the season.

  • rob60990

Not bad for OUAT clip show. Hope it does better next week than it has been doing.

“Are the networks going to pre-empt tonight’s programming in order to cover the aftermath of the Boston bombings?”

In Boston area probably but I doubt they will pre-empt regular primetime programming across the country. They didn’t for the CONN shooting and that was far worse than this.

  • Pat

Based on previous instances, I expect Amazing Race to be adjusted up .3 or .4 in the finals.

  • The End

    @rob60990

NBC news reporting that some of the unaffected marathon runners were running to give blood after finishing the race. MASSIVE respect to these people.

  • Chan

I hope prime time television isn’t pre-empted tonight I got to watch the return of 90210, Dallas, and Raw. Although I should boycott Raw because of how terrible its been for five years.

“Are the networks going to pre-empt tonight’s programming …?”

In Boston area probably but I doubt they will pre-empt regular primetime programming across the country. They didn’t for the CONN shooting and that was far worse than this.

    Good point.

The President is scheduled to speak at 6:10 eastern time tonight following by another moment of silence by Congress.

  • The End

    @grey

One can only hope his speech includes that they’ve caught whoever did it, and have put them on death row. Whoever did it doesn’t deserve a trial, get rid of them, no one will miss them.

  • outlawz

alot of people gonna b watching tv today? ppl afreaid to go outside?

  • rob60990

According to NBC Nightly News twitter, NBC is airing a news special tonight at 10, so I guess Revolution is pre-empted.

  • grey

ABC said they were going to have a one hour evening news broadcast instead of the regular 1 hr but I haven’t heard or read about any pre-emptions. Also don’t know what CBS’s plans are.

  • grey

Correction: 1 hr broadcast instead of 1/2 hour.

ABC said they were going to have a one hour evening news broadcast instead of the regular ***1/2*** hr but I haven’t heard or read about any pre-emptions. Also don’t know what CBS’s plans are.

  • TheFrenchGuy

The bombing in Boston happened on the North Korea Anniversary day. Weird no ???

  • cimmer

OUAT is already doing a clips show? What’s up with that? Might as well have done a rerun.

  • 728huey

I don’t generally watch The Cleveland Show, especially at the earlier time slot, but I happened to catch last night’s episode, and it was about Cleveland befriending a mob doctor who was in witness protection. The doctor was lonely and kept ordering additional tests after Cleveland came in for a checkup. The funny part of the show came when the doctor came to his house to deliver “bad news” to Cleveland. Cleveland said, “Am I gonna die?” And his wife said, “Are we being cancelled?” Then they both screamed, “Oh my God! We’re being cancelled!”

At any rate, my heart and prayers go out to all of the victims of the bomb blasts at the Boston Marathon today. NBC has pre-empted Revolution for a special report on the bombing, and I suspect CBS and ABC may do the same, albeit probably at the 10:00 pm hour.
