Don't Trust The B---- has already been devoured by the cancellation bear. Happy Endings may live on with a cable net, but it's certain to be canceled by ABC. What about the next three higher rated ABC sitcoms?

Malibu Country averaged a 1.3 rating for new episodes since March 1.

Last Man Standing averaged a 1.5 rating since March 1.

The Neighbors averaged a 1.5 rating since March 1.

Of those three, the bear is most confident in the renewal of Last Man Standing. It's a second year show, airing on Friday which carries some level of low ratings forgiveness, and has matched The Neighbors ratings since March 1.

Based on the early relative success of How To Live With Your Parents, and The Neighbors relatively weak ratings since March 1, the bear is now moving The Neighbors back to a "toss up" for cancellation or renewal.

The bear still likes The Neighbors chances better than those of Malibu Country though, and would give it the least chance for renewal out of the three.

Our final up or down guesses for all shows still with uncertain fates will come on May 7.

Rookie sitcom How To Live With Your Parents (For the Rest Of Your Life) is also in the mix for renewal, but its current ratings are high enough to put it well out of the range of those other three.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, the "old" Fall predictions will carry over.

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

what would break the Thursday 8pm curse is a something that is not male or geek orientated. So either Shark Tank a female comedy block or a female drama such as Nashville or Murder in Manhattan from the possible new dramas

  • Nick

The Neighbors with its decline is more Better With You than Suburgatory, anyone who knows ABC’s history and has kept up with this site will understand what I’m talking about.

The reason why ABC will likely renew both Nashville and BOP is based on their flops. 4/5 dramas have flopped as well as Private Practice ending. This means that its likely that ABC will keep Nashville and BOP to avoid having this season be a total disaster as well s keeping Castle, OUAT, Revenge, Grey’s Anatomy, and Scandal.

Comedy wise they will renew Modern Family, The Middle, Suburgatory, Last Man Standing, and likely HTLWYP. The Neighbors theoretically could go either was depending on ABC’s pilots. (They could pair Neighbors with Suburgatory on another night if they want to keep it or just air a new show with Suburgatory)

    8pm- Shield
    9pm- Super Fun Night/ Pulling

    9pm- Modern Family/ Trophy Wife
    10pm- DWTS Results

    8pm- Westside
    9pm- Greys
    10pm- Scandal

    8pm- LMS/MC
    9pm- Nashville
    10pm- 20/20

    7pm- AFHV
    8pm- OUAT
    9pm- Gothica
    10pm- Revenge

I think The Neighbors is more likely to be renewed. The simple fact that it’s produced by Disney and aired by ABC gives it leverage.

  • Bliss

    @ Nick

I think your schedule seems the most realistic so far.

I think instead of Keep Calm & Karey On that Pulling will air because it was on BBC and the United States often likes to redo British shows. One great example is the office.

I also think that trophy wife might become a mid season pick up.

  • Cj morton

Good news for me! Go LMS and MC!!!!

  • J.J.

No, simply hold it for midseason or Thursdays at 8 would be great.

  • Katherine

Last season ABC had great new dramas and comedies, but this season ABC failed, I saw the new dramas, nothing exiting, Nashville started great, but after the first two episode it got very predictable and is all full of cliches. I don’t care if all of this new shows get canceled, because I am looking forward for the new shows ABC is working on for the next season, they sound great, and I got the feeling we are going to get some really entertaining and strong shows.

  • TheEmulator23

Neighbors should be renewed don’t worry kids.

  • Chris

Watch How To Live With Your Parents drop like a HUGE rock in the ratings tonight. Why people think it’s any better than Apt.23 or Happy Endings, I’ll never know. The Neighbors DOES fit on Wednesday because it’s more of a family show as opposed to HTLWP. HTLWP just has a bunch of sex jokes. How’s that a family show exactly? Makes no sense at all. If it wanted to fit on Wednesdays, they could at least have more inside jokes when it comes to that like The Neighbors did but instead it’s way too obvious and not covered up. I’m hoping The Neighbors gets renewed and airs on Fridays, not in place of MC but with LMS and MC. TGIF. According to deadline, the John Leguizamo comedy is actually gaining momentum so it might get picked up. Seeing as how it’s a multi cam, ABC may be inclined to save The Neighbors and actually go with TGIF shuffling Shark Tank to Tuesdays where they’ve been struggling.

  • Ultima

I think your schedule seems the most realistic so far.

The one that moves both Grey’s Anatomy and DWTS to different nights?

  • omabin

The problem with ABC schedule is that they really need to move a lot of stuff around. I mean they are kings of fridays, they do very well on thursdays, needing to fix only the 8pm hour and they are fine on wednesdays as long as MF lives, although the half hours and the 10 pm show could certainly be improved. Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays are a different monster though. I am not sure anymore what the clear solution is. In my mind, it is clear that DWTS must go to Sundays, and that it has to be accompanied by some sort of procedural show, either Body of Proof if it remains on the fall schedule or something like Murder in Manhattan. I would go with BoP. Say what you may about how DH held up just fine on Sundays, I think the enviroment is too different nowadays with everything that goes on in cable those nights and that it is no place for serialized dramas on broadcast networks at the moment. The problem is that this leaves a huuuge hole on the Monday/Tuesday schedule. I would simply revamp tuesdays all together combining shows like Once Upon a Time, Big Thunder, OUAT Wonderland and Shield. Mondays are a different animal though, because apart from Castle being put at 10pm, I have no idea what to do with the 8-10 timeslots. I would cancel the results show of DWTS, I don’t think it has any business being alive anymore. I had been arguing for a Revenge move here, but honestly, I think Sundays have crippled it too much for it to be able to held its own there against the powerhouse that is the voice and the CBS comedies (which although weaker now, are still a force). They can put Shield here but at this point, I think that is an even bigger risk than putting it Thursdays at 8pm. And even if they do, they still need to pair it with something. And I don’t like two new shows being launched against the voice strongest hours, but I don’t like the idea of OUAT or Revenge there either, so I really am not sure of what should be done…

  • Thommy the Evil

ALL my ABC shows are in the green? I’m AWESOME.

Barring a ratings’ meltdown, How To Live With Your Parents is safe. Plus: it retains about 70% of it’s lead-in. I’m sure it’s coming back next season, perhaps in the same timespot (again, barring it keeps pulling numbers).

  • Nick

    @ Bliss

I think your schedule seems the most realistic so far.

Thanks, but I have to agree with Ultima. I didn’t think it was realistic.

I think instead of Keep Calm & Karey On that Pulling will air because it was on BBC and the United States often likes to redo British shows.

The problem with that is that Pulling is not a family comedy. All of ABC’s recent non-family comedy pickups failed in one way or another (Mr. Sunshine, Happy Endings, Man Up, Work It!, and Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23). Keep Calm & Karey On looks like it would pair well with Modern Family.

I also think that trophy wife might become a mid season pick up.

That and Murder in Manhattan seem like good ideas for midseason. I don’t put new midseason shows with my schedule, but I might start now that there’s no more pilots coming in.

  • KJ Styles

I fear that Suburgatory will be moved to Fridays next season due to How To Live With Your Parents’ success and Malibu Country’s lack thereof. I hope not though, as I really like Suburgatory and it would get killed on Fridays.

  • Zachary

The pilots that ABC are probably picking up in the comedy department are How the He’ll am I Normal?, Bad Management and (this ones a guarantee) Back in the Game. Trophy Wife MIGHT get a midseason order. I will cry if The Neighbors gets cancelled. I actually think it has somewhat of a chance, as it’s an in-house production and no actors have abandoned ship.

  • Dan.

What is going on with the male announcer on Suburgatory? I am not blind nor listening on a radio. He is just distracting from Jane’s story.

  • Cle

ABC has really messed up sunday, monday & tuesday line-up this season.. can’t think any way of a solution… for a stable schedule they have to make really MAJOR moves…

  • Hades

What I think they should do-

    8-DWTS/The Bachelor/DWTS
    9-DWTS/The Bachelor/DWTS

    9-New Drama

    8-New Drama
