Don't Trust The B---- has already been devoured by the Cancellation Bear. Happy Endings may live on with a cable net, but it's certain to be canceled by ABC. What about the next three higher rated ABC sitcoms?

Malibu Country averaged a 1.3 rating for new episodes since March 1.

Last Man Standing averaged a 1.5 rating since March 1.

The Neighbors averaged a 1.5 rating since March 1.

Of those three, the bear is most confident in the renewal of Last Man Standing. It's a second year show, airing on Friday which carries some level of low ratings forgiveness, and has matched The Neighbors ratings since March 1.

Based on the early relative success of How To Live With Your Parents, and The Neighbors relatively weak ratings since March 1, the bear is now moving The Neighbors back to a "toss up" for cancellation or renewal.

The bear still likes THE NEIGHBORS chances better than those of Malibu Country though, and would give it the least chance for renewal out of the three.

Our final up or down guesses for all shows still with uncertain fates will come on May 7.

Rookie sitcom How To Live With Your Parents (For the Rest Of Your Life) is also in the mix for renewal, but its current ratings are high enough to put it well out of the range of those other three.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, the "old" Fall predictions will carry over.

Notes:

  • :oops: - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • :cry: :cry:- more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  • :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    I agree with some of the other , The Neighbors , would be a massive mistake to cancel ,
    The Neighbors is one of the best, if not the best new show ABC launched in 2012 / 2013.
    The only change I would make is when it is being shown, with my suggestion put it on Sundays in a 8:00 time slot to start the night and move Once Upon A Time , into the 9pm slot.

    I think it’s laughable that ABC still waits to announce almost all of their renewals until the very last minute. They’re even more in the past than CBS.

  • chrisss

    @ JakeSnake

    Why is it laughable? What difference does it make if they renew shows now or at the upfronts?

  • sydney sims

    I am still keeping my fingers crossed for a renewal of Malibu Coountry. I love the show and its family oriented script. Reba and cast are great.

  • Cle

    @steve o

    ur schedule is far better than others… i think…

  • Fred

    @Steve O,

    S.H.I.E.L.D. might be better utilized if it airs earlier. It’s anticipated to lure lots of of fanboys. It can help the entire Tues line up if it airs 8:00 or latest 9:00.

  • SteveO

    @ Cle…thanks!!

    @Fred…I def agree, but I didn’t know where to put the comedies. We all know how the 9pm comedy hour worked this season. I honestly think Shield should air on Tuesday at 9pm , with Shark Tank at 8pm. But another new drama at 10pm? I don’t think Body of Proof will be back in the fall.

  • The End

    @Cle

    Fair enough, somewhat agree with you.

  • Cle

    @fred

    I also agree with u abt SHEILD..

  • Rebecca Hindle

    I want Nashville, Ounce Upon A Time, Revenge and BOP renewed there the only ones I watch and care about plus there on freeview in the UK so please for the love of my lovely week being filled with awesome dramas brilliant acting renew these programms.

    I am a bit concernerd for BOP though and its awesome love new season – mis season would be good as channel 5 in uk took a break mid season and they wouldn’t if it was half a season.

  • Bob Ketler

    If ABC cancels THE NEIGHBORS I will rely even more for entertainment on my DVDs, my smart phone and my computer. THE NEIGHBORS is one of the all-time wittiest and most clever shows on TV. It is brilliant. Give it a full season chance for next year and watch the numbers eventually climb to a VERY happy level.

  • Bob Ketler

    Again….re: THE NEIGHBORS…..NBC would not be observing GRIMM climbing into solid HIT status if they hadn’t stood by it after a slow beginning. If ABC stands by THE NEIGHBORS it will eventually pay off….BIG TIME!

    Breaking So, Mike Kelley, creator of Revenge, has stepped down as showrunner and is leaving ABC due to mutual disagreements.

    Hollywood Reporter is reporting that ABC is currently looking for his replacement (likely to be one of the Exec. Producers on the show right now) for the anticipated / expected Season 3.

    With this, I think Revenge is more than likely to be renewed now.

  • iMember

    Apparently, Mike Kelley preferred to have shorter seasons for the show, but ABC didn’t want that.

  • Bee

    ^ omg. i just heard that. revenge is completely falling apart :( ABC couldn’t keep it for midseason like LOST with 13-18 episodes? they had to remove the one guy who lead the whole thing? ugh.

  • Richard Steven Hack

    Just read that about Revenge. Doesn’t look good…

    It’s not clear to me why Kelley wanted shorter seasons. If his writers can’t handle 22 episodes a season, he needs new writers not shorter seasons. Shortening the season isn’t going to help if he can’t figure out where the show should go in a compelling manner.

    The article makes clear that fans are irritated with The Initiative story arc and Emily’s “lack of revenging” this season. That is correct. That is what he should have been trying to fix.

    We may not get a third season if ABCStudios can’t find a decent showrunner in time to begin production. Or they may be forced to move to a shortened spring schedule.

    I hope The Neighbors won’t be cancelled. I mean I HOPE THE NEIGHBORS WON’T BE CANCELLED! It’s one of the freshest, most original, funniest shows on TV. The creativity is wonderful and they still have so much story left to tell. Please, ABC, keep this show on.
