Like many of the Cancellation Bear's weekly posts at this point in the season, the CW predictions haven't changed (other than Cult being officially canceled last week) and the bear's just going over old ground.

Although the cancellation bear disagrees with Bubble Watch over the fate of Beauty & The Beast (enraged fans, please direct your rage appropriately), there is no disagreement about the fate of The Carrie Diaries. It's still likely to be canceled.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, I will keep the "old"  Fall predictions in the table.

Want to know what the CW Renew/Cancel Index table looked like at the end of the Fall season? Click here.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2012

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

@RichardStevenHack thank you so much for an actual answer! aha loved your point on nikita btw. guess i’ll just have to wait four more weeks and see.

  • rubi

i think they should cancel TCD, renew BATB and give us more great new series :D

  • elisha

    cancel TCD

  • Justin

    What The CW should do:
    Cancel both TCD and BatB.

    What The CW will do:
Cancel one of them. My guess is that they’ll end TCD.

  • starship

Unless tonight’s BatB episode adjusts down in the finals, it should be moving to certain renewal next week.

  • TVFan

I hope they decide to renew Hart of Dixie, not the biggest BatB fan after they killed Evan :(. But CW has great shows and can’t wait for the Vampire Diaries spinoff (The originals) we get to see a sneak peak next week. TCD < BabT.

  • Elle

Please don’t cancel the carrie diaries! I love it and its my new favourite show! The characters are amazing, the plot is very intriguing and exciting so please give it a chance!

  • Ringerbeliever

Cancel TCD and BATB Bring back Ringer. It did better than both shows

  • Brandy

@RingerBelliever , it’s been almost a year it’s not coming back , move on.Ringer was pulling 0.4-0.5 late in the season to BaTB 0.5-0.6& CD had 0.4 too just like Ringer ,late to end of the season.SMG has a new pilot, she’s moved on.BATB is doing the same asRinger did the second half of season one, even better actually as it hasn’t hit 0.4yet.

  • Revenger

@ringerbeliever I miss the show as well, but it’s gone @Brandy what pilot is SMG working on?

  • Shaz

    @Revenger
SMG is on Crazy Ones, a CBS sitcom pilot with Robin Williams.

  • Elijah

I seen this over on Marc Berman’s website

“Of the four current on-the-fence CW series (including “The Carrie Diaries,” “Hart of Dixie” and “Nikita”), “Beauty and the Beast” is the least likely to return.”

  • JacobYates

    @Elijah
Well don’t believe what he says. Why? Well:

    1) Nikita isn’t a bubble show and will be renewed due to syndication.
    2) Carrie Diaries will be cancelled due to awful ratings and is not a Bubble Show
    3) To say that BATB is less likely to return than Carrie Diaries is retarded.
    4) I’ve heard Marc Berman say that Supernatural is a failure.

You can’t believe a word he says.

  • gem is truely outrageous

Deadline is reporting Nikitas deal is already in place for a shortened finale season

“Perennial bubbler Nikita, a very modest performer on Friday night, also is eying a return for a fourth season. I hear creator Craig Silverstein, who has a new pilot, Turn, at AMC, has closed a deal for a final installment of 6-13 episodes. Giving Nikita a final chapter also falls into CW president’s Mark Pedowitz’s goal to give the network’s series with devoted followings a proper ending.”

Don’t know how trustworthy deadline is but I am still betting its a short wrap up season.

  • Solelle

@ Revenger I think I know the answer to your question about SMG its working title is The Crazy Ones and i think Robin Williams is in it I believe it is for CBS but I have no idea if it has been picked up.

  • Tracy

Cult is too complex. Even carrie dairies is too young for me the Cw needs a high school show. HOD is funny. Too bad 90210 is over love it. TVD of course Nina and Ian forever!

  • Valentin

Still think that BATB & TCD will be both renewed, I have this feeling and I may be wrong but that’s what I feel.
Stop trying to put down other shows just to see your show coming back. Last year, I was blaming HoD for taking Ringer’s place at renewal but then I started to watch it and I loved it. To all the ones who think that TSC will be back, that’s insane, stop believing it. TSC is dead and will never come back, the actors are involved with new projects. PLUS if Pedowitz could bring back one show from last year, it would be Ringer because it was the show he loved and talked about all the time in good terms.

gem is truely outrageous: “I hear creator Craig Silverstein, who has a new pilot, Turn, at AMC, has closed a deal for a final installment of 6-13 episodes.”

    Update from IGN article:

Asked on Twitter about the shortened season, Silverstein replied “The statement isn’t true because no decisions have been made yet.”

    As expected.

  • Brandy

@RSH, tvline reprted today “im hearing theres a solid chance the MAggie Q fronted series will return for a shortened order of around 10 episodes or so”. So that two sites saying Nikita will get a short final season.

  • Katie_Mead

@Brandy: tvline reprted today “ … [Nikita] will return for a shortened order of around 10 episodes or so”. So that two sites saying Nikita will get a short final season.
Deadline & TVline are sister sites with shared intel, so they don’t necessarily count as 2 separate sites.
Also, while Aushole is usually fairly good with his sources, the segment of “Spoiler Alert!” that this airs in, often has jokey content.
