30 for 30 Shorts: The Irrelevant Giant featuring Bill Parcells premieres today on Grantland.com
John Tuggle, the 1983 NFL draft’s Mr. Irrelevant, was anything but irrelevant to legendary coach Bill Parcells. In The Irrelevant Giant, by directors Shaun Silva and Don Lepore, the normally tough and gruff coach takes viewers on an emotional journey as he recounts his own rookie season as the head coach of the New York Giants and the year he came to know this very special athlete who made his team against all odds. Tragically, only one year later, a rare and unbeatable form of cancer would change both John’s and Coach Parcells’ destinies leaving behind a lasting impact on teammates and the life of the coach who understands just how fragile life can be. Shaun Silva – Bio
Shaun Silva is the founder and owner of TackleBox Films. Silvadirected “Boys of Fall”, and "The Color Orange: The Condredge Holloway Story" for ESPN’s Year of the Quarterback and SEC Storied initiatives.
Most recently, Silva is working with country music heavyweight, Kenny Chesney, to direct his "No Shoes Nation" television special set to air in the summer of 2013. Additionally, Silva is working with Jason Aldean to produce and direct a feature length documentary revolving around his career defining 2013 Night Train concert tour.
Other documentary endeavors include "Waylon Jennings: Breaking the Myth", "Rascal Flatts: Changed", and "More Life". Music centric long form works encompass "Sugarland: Live on the Inside", "George Strait: Live at Reliant Stadium", and "Luke Bryan: Farm Tour."
Silva has also garnered many accolades during his career including numerous CMT Awards, a CMA award, an Addy, several Telly awards, and a Billboard music video award.
Don Lepore - Bio
Producing a vast array of television and longform projects ranging from feature length documentaries to television series and specials. Don has served as the Producer on projects such as "Billy Joel - The Last Play at Shea", "Garth Brooks: One Man, One Night, One City" theatrical release, Prince's "3 Chains o' Gold" long form effort and "Creature", a critically acclaimed feature film documentary to name just a few.
He was Supervising Producer for USA Network/NBC’s “Nashville Star” for several seasons where Lepore’s innovative approach to sponsor integration, knowledge of music and talent, and music TV production experience helped to mold it into a franchise show that garnered both commercial and critical respect.
After meeting and working with Shaun Silva in 2001, Lepore was asked by Silva in 2009 to help him develop and grow his TackleBox Films' long form division. Projects such as "Boys of Fall", a feature length documentary about the life lessons learned from football, and "The Color Orange: The Condredge Holloway Story" for ESPN's Year of the Quarterback and SEC Storied series are early results of that team effort. Other projects that Lepore has produced for Silva and Tacklebox Films include "Waylon Jennings: Breaking the Myth", "George Strait: Live at Reliant Stadium", "Rascal Flatts: Changed", "More Life", and "Luke Bryan: Farm Tour."
