    From the Hill com

Senate rejects background checks on gun purchases in 54-46 vote

The Senate delivered a devastating blow to President Obama’s agenda to regulate guns Wednesday by defeating a bipartisan proposal to expand background checks.

It failed by a vote of 54 to 46, with 5 Democrats voting against it. Only 4 Republicans supported it.

Democratic Sens. Mark Pryor (Ark.), Max Baucus (Mont.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Mark Begich (Alaska) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) voted against it. Reid supported the measure but voted against it to preserve his ability to bring the measure up again.

GOP Sens. John McCain (Ariz.), Susan Collins (Maine), Pat Toomey (Pa.) and Mark Kirk (Ill.) voted yes.

FBI chastises media after incorrect report of Boston bombing arrest

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Wednesday chastised the media after incorrect reports claimed a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing was in custody.

The agency warned media members to more carefully vet stories on the investigation and said that spreading misinformation could have “unintended consequences.”

CNN and the Associated Press reported that a suspect had been arrested, but later had to walk those claims back.

  • Raz

Ouch! MSNBC would have done better running a test pattern at 10:00 pm

  • Tama

    MSNBC…Getting smacked around weeknights

  • Chriscee

Big Eddy still doesn’t even know when he’s going to come back on the air. I wonder if he ever will.

  • Mike

Bill O’s 11 pm Demo and Total Viewers numbers better than Hayes’ combined numbers. That speaks volumes. Hannity really smoked Maddow (as predicted). Advertisers will remember these numbers and nothing succeeds like success. People recognize Hayes and Maddow as biased,self-righteous, and self-important souls who really have nothing of value other than their ‘snarky, I”m-smarter-than-you” attitudes. Grows old – even for Liberals.

  • Chriscee

    From Politico

From the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Boston division, following reports from CNN, the Associated Press and others that authorities had made an arrest in their investigation into the Boston bombing:

Contrary to widespread reporting, no arrest has been made in connection with the Boston Marathon attack. Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate.

Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting.

Above, that unforgettable moment on CNN where their own correspondent informed hosts that the initial reporting was wrong.

Make no mistake: This is devastating for CNN, which is receiving a wave of criticism not seen since they blew the Supreme Court ruling.

  • Mike

dana, don’t you mean “a male version of him with Maddow”?

  • Jim

@Dana “Why watch Hayes when you watch the female version of him with Maddow…”

Wait, I thought Maddow was the kid from Star Trek: The Next Generation, just with a sex change…

  • Stan T.

Okay, change of subject…because it’s about me! lol

My new book is coming out…the paperback is already available on Amazon.com

a fantasy novel with NO religion and NO politics….EVERYONE should be able to enjoy it!

Yes, I’m thrilled so I had to bring it up…lol

  • Ralph Hahn

OOOOOOOH! THIS MUST REALLY HURT. Not only is FNC Number One 25-54 both daytime and prime-time, CNN beat MSDNC in EVERY LISTED TIMESLOT. Nobody trusts MSBNS for REAL news. Things are SO bad, Comcast is thinking of removing their own cable “newser” from the program lineup. LOL :)

  • moncon

No credibility on MSNBC. They show their agenda way too much!

  • Raz

Congrats Stan! It’s always wonderful to have ones creativity come to life in books.

  • Chriscee

    Congrats Stan!!!

I just ordered it my friend!!!!

  • JohnH

Oddly enough Fox News was also along side CNN to rush through misinformation. Ideologues will only notice one.

  • Ralph Hahn

@Stan T.: Good Luck with the book!
