Perhaps CBS did this to avoid going head-to-head against ABC and NBC news specials between 10 and 11 P.M. ET/PT.

The network probably thinks that they can “clean up” in the ratings by attracting viewers who want to get an in-depth look at the biggest news story thus far of this year and didn’t want to wait until 10.

It’s also possible that at least a few viewers will watch the CBS special, then at 10, switch to either the ABC or NBC special.

Should the manhunt end by tomorrow evening (April 20th), I could see CBS expanding “48 Hours” to two full hours from 9 to 11 P.M. ET/PT, to present a full wrap-up at the week’s events.

    Billiam and John A.:

I don’t think moving “Vegas” to tomorrow night (Saturday, April 20th) means the show has been cancelled……….yet.

It may just be that the network doesn’t want the season to run past the end of the May sweeps.

Otherwise, the season finale would air on the Friday prior to the Memorial Day weekend, perhaps one of the two or three least-watched Friday nights of TV viewing all year.

In fact, “Vegas” would probably attract more viewers tomorrow at 8 than on Friday night, May 24th at the start of Memorial Day weekend.

BTW, in Boston, the CBS prime-time lineup tonight will likely get bumped from WBZ, probably to sister station (and My Network TV affiliate) WSBK.

What the hell? First Revolution has this happen, now Vegas.

  • TV Viewer

I hope when they air the last episode of Vegas in May, it’s treated like the series finale it is, instead of a season finale that leaves the viewers with unansewered questions and loose ends.

When they aired the last episode of CSI:NY they treated it like a series finale, and not just a season finale, and wrapped up all the loose ends. It looked and felt like a series finale, because that’s what it was.

I feel the last episodes of Golden Boy and Rules of Engagement, (airing in May 2013), should get their wrap-up series finales as well.

    Vegas is dead

  • Andy W

By the looks of it, Undercover Boss and Hawaii Five-0 might end up not airing anyway. The search for the 2nd ‘Bomber’ will probably continue into the evening so most Major Networks will have Special Coverage of the search.

  • Meliwa

Andy–I hope not. I’m not in Boston but the TV has been airing live coverage all day with nothing much to report. And the poor people in Boston are completely on lockdown and unable to leave their homes. They need at least some entertainment.

    @John A
So CBS arent even keeping Vegas cancelation a secret anymore with this airing Saturday.

Vegas being canceled hasn’t been a secret for at least a month.

    @Joseph
It may just be that the network doesn’t want the season to run past the end of the May sweeps.

The Vegas finale is scheduled for Friday, 10 May. Did you even bother to look at the schedule first?

  • MichaelChickless

Can’t wait to see the great number Vegas gets on Saturday night.

  • Blake Williams

I will enjoy Vegas as long as it is on the air…….Thank you CBS for this show

  • Billiam

I didn’t see anyone answer my question… do any of you actually tune in to your local broadcast TV station signal instead of having cable, satellite, etc.? I’d be interested to know the percentage of people nationwide who still depend on their local stations to view TV. I know some people in remote areas probably still do but even those areas have at least satellite coverahe now.

  • Anna Bones Clarkwood

Really, Boston is on lockdown? They don’t go to work or anything?

I’m only following the news via TVTBN.

  • Dan

This is like when No Ordinary Family had the penultimate episode aired on Saturday, the network is obviously intending to cancel the show or else they would have preempted the episode until next week or aired the special at 8.

At least all episodes will be aired by May.

  • Dan

@TV Viewer – Well Golden Boy being a rookie drama will probably wrap the season up tying loose ends (If any), and the cast and creators of Rules of Engagement have known for a while that the show is done so that series will end with a “series” finale wrapping up Jeff & Audrey’s baby, Adam and Jenn’s wedding and Timmy returning to Russell after he quits.

  • thesnowleopard

Poor Vegas. I figured that would be the case when I tuned in to our local CBS affiliate earlier to find out if we had any tornado alerts and saw all the free-for-all about bomber in the boat. At least they’re rescheduling it for the next day.

  • Sylvia P

Does anyone know when the new episode of Nikita will now air?!? Lol, I’m dying to see it!!

  • Don

DenverDan I agree it’s no big deal but it is dumb. 8 and 10 PM have reruns so why not air it during reruns and not an original show? Heck, to be a bit ruthless having a special at 8 before Vegas might boost it’s ratings a bit.

  • cindy

Nikita aired, Grimm aired, even Vegas aired normally but only one episode of Happy Endings?
