smash season 2

Smash has had a busy April. April 6 it moved from Tuesdays at 10PM to Saturday at 9PM. Then, with minimal promotion, it moved to Saturday at 8PM on April 13. It will air at 8PM again tomorrow, April 20. On April 27, it will return to the Saturday at 9PM timeslot. Perhaps the show's next musical number should be a song called  "Saturday Shuffle."

They should have done last week’s wardrobe malfunction back in season one. It’s the first interesting thing that has happened on this whole damn series.

  • Rebecca

I caught part of the 8 pm airing by accident while channel surfing. Never knew what time the show was to air anyway since I wait until Sunday to stream it online. Five episodes left.

What is going on NBC, and what audience are they trying to attract now?

I’m down to watching only four shows on NBC. Late Night with Jimmy Fallon; Smash; Revolution, and now, Hannibal. Moving Smash to Saturday night works for me, but it’s clearly a signal that Smash won’t be renewed for the next season. So, I’ll soon be down to watching only three shows on NBC. That’s if Revolution isn’t also canceled.

  • SVU: Hannibal

I have both Smash and The Voice set to record because I still have no idea when Smash will air tomorrow. Might have to continue doing this for the next 5 weeks.

  • Jenny

    NBC is on that stuff.

  • Dan

8pm, 9pm ughhhh, It will all be over on May 25.

  • TV Gord

SVU: Hannibal, if I were you, I’d double-check your settings. Sometimes these last-minute changes aren’t reflected in PVR listings, and so you could end up recording the wrong hour. Just a friendly thought from someone who’s been burned in the past.

  • Dan

@SVU Hannibal – Thats smart, record the whole 2-3 hours, so no matter what you get the whole episode. Thats happened to me before sundays on FOX where my shows would get pushed back due to football and everything is shifted.

  • Danak

My DVR is not picking up the Smash time change for tonight, just like last week. I’ll have to set a manual recording yet again. I hope my DVR picks up the Grimm change in a week and a half.

  • The Cool Max

Who cares? Just cancel it already!

  • MJ

It’s effectively been cancelled. The show is essentially a sunk cost since all the episodes have been shot, so NBC might as well air them in a slot where they won’t do that much harm.

  • Steve

The cancellation bear is going to love eating Katharine McPhee :)

  • Simon Jester

@Steve – Nah, she’s all skin and bones. Not even any discernible acting talent to fatten her up. ;)

  • Iggy

I’m down to watching only four shows on NBC.

    That’s two more than me.

does the timeslot really matter for a show that nobody watches?

  • Solelle

Are there really people out there who have not come to grips with the fact that smash is dead in the water? Sad for the girl who plays Ivy she actually has talent her Marilyn was a thousand times better than Kat Mcfees. Hope she gets new acting work soon.

  • Nikki

It is sad that Smash will be canceled. :( Other than Ellen I don’t watch anything on NBC. Someone from NBC needs to get a few pointers from ABC. Please consider renewing smash!!! :( :( :(

NBC really know how to ruin a series… Poor management of the series led to its quality downturn last season, then they take it off the air for a year, return it with minimal promotion and in an absolute dead time slot, following a night of bombs.
You’d think for a series that costs them so much, they would care a little more about it’s scheduling; but they’ve let it get so bad, that they’re just burning episodes off irregularly timed on a Saturday night.

If they had half a brain, they would have at least just put the series on hiatus until The Voice returned, then air it behind The Voice when Ready to Love flops…
