Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Weird that Hannibal fell with 1.7 lead in, way higher than the 1.1 it had for its first 2 weeks

  • RyanCanada

That has to be a Series low for Vampire Diaries? whoa i think people are hating the evil Elena storyline tho…. last nights episodes was the best one this season tho! come on people, i hope it adjusts up tho

  • DKD

It’s hilarious that people are declaring a show dead base on Live + SD ratings.

I guarantee that this is a show whose “C3″ rating-the one that really matters, people–is higher than its Live + SD rating.

  • JONNYSBRO

Please NBC let hannibal go after the voice it needs the trail. That must be a typo in viewers for idol. it was a great night for results. How welcome was it seeing Paula Abdul last nIght on idol what a welcome sight to see and just loved seeing her back in the chair that made her famous.

  • Rachel

Oop @ TVD. It’ll probably adjust up though.

  • Harry

Big bang theory repeat at 9 had better ratings than an original person on interest has in the timeslot… Just wow…

Also big bang theory repeat beats Idol…

    unbelievable…

“I guarantee that this is a show whose “C3? rating-the one that really matters, people–is higher than its Live + SD rating.”

A guarantee based on no actual knowledge of the facts.

Absent that knowledge, the Live+Same Day program ratings are excellent proxies for prediction.

  • gem is truely outrageous

I love vampire diaries but this season has been so blah but I have high hopes for next year. The only reason I tuned in this year was cluase and caroline. Oh and Ill watch anything with Elijah he could just stand in the background of any scene doing mundane crap and I would watch.

  • Alex

Disappointed to see Hannibal drop. I’m enjoying it a lot. On the plus side regardless of whether it gets a second season (and at this level its still looking good for NBC) it’ll at least finish out season one which is something.

    Meanwhile…

The Big Bang Theory repeats dominated. I’m not sure that any of this scheduling actually means anything and it certainly won’t have told them anything they didn’t already know. All they’ve learnt is that Big Bang (or at least a repeat) does a little in an hour with traditionally higher PUT levels and that a show (or at least repeat) airing out of Bang does better than when it doesn’t air out of Bang. Don’t let any of that stop you from reading huge amounts into this scheduling though…

Over on NBC Parks & Rec did better at 9PM than I thought it would. That’s only a couple of tenths down on where The Office was last week and it was steady across the hour. NBC can’t ask for more than that. Hannibal’s drop at 10PM is disappointing given the increased lead-in. A Person of Interest repeat is slightly tougher competition than an Elementary repeat but that’s really no excuse. As I said above though this is hardly the end of the world for the show at this point. We’ll see what happens for the next few weeks. I’m sure there’ll already be an endless barrage of posts bemoaning NBC for being idiots and not airing the show out of The Voice though.

  • Max Vrany

BBT repeat beat AI in the half-hour.

  • Robsten_Fan

    Half hours, pleaase~!!

  • hiii

hope glee will adjust up!! it’s a great show ;(

  • KarenM

Hannibal too edgy for regular TV.

  • JD

People cheering for shows to fail (here’s lookin’ at you, Jean)should re-evaluate their lives. It’s kind of sad that CBS repeats beat everything, but that’s America for ya. Hopefully Hannibal can adjust up, but Ready For Love still did worse than this on Tuesday. Good thing the upfronts are soon.

  • Vance

No, Ryan, last night’s episode of TVD was one of the worst of the series. It had too much teen drama and a villain that can literally appear as anybody, which plot-wise, causes major problems.

  • s0303

Looks like people are just turned off by the no name cast.

you’ve seriously never heard of lawrence fishburn???

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Bill Gorman

“Hannibal too edgy for regular TV.”

    #FanExcuseBingo!

  • Brandy

OMG ohno at VD!Good for BATB staying steady at 0.6 even while it’s leadin crashed. Both were good last night. I really hope VD adjusts up and bounces back next week.

  • KarenM

Hannibal’s problem’s it’s not going to appeal to the majority of women. Most women don’t want to see bloody shows with “viewer discretion advised” before viewing.
