Broken Home

Because of the breaking news coverage on Friday, we only have final ratings for the programs that aired. Nearly all of ABC, NBC and CBS' lineups were pre-empted and are not included in this final report. For reference, here are Friday's preliminary ratings.

Want to know why adjustments occur to the preliminary ratings? Read this.

Fashion Star was new on the west coast, for what it’s worth.

  • Kavyn

Wasn’t there a new episode of Shark Tank on Friday too? I could have sworn I saw episode 22 on Friday (Geek Chic, etc).

Also I have no idea what happened Friday night, but it looks like it was a disaster. Glad to see Nikita at least maintain a 0.3.

  • MichaelChickless

Rock Center is rock solid during a crisis!

  • Kavyn

@RSH The 10-13 ep order for Nikita rumor came from Deadline. It sounds like utter BS but it wasn’t started by Nikita-haters (unless if Deadline hates Nikita).

  • Bright

Hi Amanda, I find kind of lazy or rude or something that I don’t like that you din’t write down X went up or down and we had to go check by ourselves. I repeat what I said a few times, this site is caring less and less about readers and just about visits (wich is nonsense in my opinion)

  • were123

Wow at Rock Center, even while being boosted by the covarage it’s still impresive that it got to those numbers

  • Felipe Nikita

The fimal sceme of nikita killed me

  • The End

Christ Nikita, you were a solid performer on Fridays last season.

  • Jason

For the person wondering about the Happy Endings repeat–the San Francisco Bay Area ABC affiliate showed a repeat or Last Man Standing at 8:00 and then a season 2 repeat of Happy Endings at 8:30 (the vision board episode).

  • Rebecca

Thanks @rob….I was wondering when HE would air those episodes. Probably the same for Grimm (extending its season finale to another week, I mean)?

  • Ultima

    @Bright
I find kind of lazy or rude or something that I don’t like that you din’t write down X went up or down and we had to go check by ourselves.

If you actually were “bright,” you would know that sometimes things are intentionally omitted.

Friday’s preliminary ratings for individual shows were completely worthless due to the widespread preemptions (and commercial free national news on most of the networks); subsequently, any comparisions to the previous week would be meaningless.

When they have worthless preliminary ratings, the final ratings are usually just the ratings themselves and adjustments are not listed.

I repeat what I said a few times, this site is caring less and less about readers and just about visits (wich is nonsense in my opinion)

Now that’s nonsense. They did nothing differently this time than they have done for similar situations in the past.

I think the real problem is that your world revolves around Nikita and you’re upset that this site doesn’t.

  • Gene

I’ve always thought it was weird how NBC gets destroyed in ordinary prime time, but when it comes to major news events they always surge to #1. Maybe some of the viewers who watched the special Rock Center will stay around in the coming weeks?

  • Anie

Sad to see a 0.3 for Nikita. It was an awesome episode that would’ve probably brought in better ratings if it aired on some other week. But still, it did good when it got preempted in other places.

  • Bern

Preemptions every where but Nikita did well. I bet some CW stations had local news instead of Nikita.

  • Claudia

LOL I watched Nikita on Friday no preemptions and im in the east coast :)

    The End

Nikita wasn’t a solid performer on Friday. It performed at its best at 50% of Smallville, at worst 35%. Was the lowest performing show to get renewed. Only one show was even with in 20% of its 18-49 demo, and all were over 30% of its adult 18-49. The 9pm hour (with a terrible lead in) had growth between 41 to 70% of its lead in.

So no Nikita wasn’t a solid performer.

Nikita has survived thanks to one thing and one thing only and thats the inability for the CW to actually cover a full weekly schedule.

But hey, the show isn’t bad by any stretch, so its a huge plus for fans.

Even with being down 33% from last years terrible numbers thinks to the CW having such terrible performers like Carrie Dairies, Cult, EMily Owens that Nikita while Nikita distance from the median average of the CW is getting lower and lower, its never had so many shows in its company performing at or even below its levels.

Regardless of even syndication dollars (which if Nikita was doing even worse, would probably save it), the CW unless it really bumps its development or goes back to planning reruns to start the season (unusual but has happened two previous years), really needs shows. Badly.

Perhaps before you make rash assumptions, you should actually take a few moments to do some research.

This site depends on other sources. THose other sources did not break down individual show’s for its Fast nationals. All they provided was overall network performance. In fact many sites had that same issue. And heck some that had hourly data still had data that didn’t reflect the shows actually airing.

Nationwide that Friday will probably be the CW most preempted night of the year (non Summer) and without knowing how the CW’s programming normally fares in each market that was preempted there is no legitimate way to make a valid comparison to any other week (not to mention knowing each market that was preempted, as a shows performance can vary widely depending on area).

In August with the start of preseason football, the CW and every other network will face more preemptions (in many cases networks have fallen from 95% plus coverage for programming to 70% and worse. But since the CW typically airs either strictly reruns or disposable summer reality fare its typically not that important to casual fans.

Grimm was a repeat on the West Coast. As of this writing, that scheduled new episode will air 4/26 per nbc.com.

  • The End

    @Mark Wood

I was judging by the overall ratings the show received, while they weren’t amazing, they were somewhat stable, and in my words, solid. They held in place to a degree.

While I agree with you, the numbers sorta sucked. They were good for what they were.

  • jeremy

On west coast there was a Giants game on instead of Niktia , had to watch it on demand …
