Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    So a Family Guy rerun and a new American Dad topped the 9pm hour? The big three better think of some new options!

  • forg

    I suggest that if ABC still insists to have new programming against the awards show then just do AFHV two hours then Hallmark move. Or 1 hour AFHV then Once clip show. They can no longer do what they did for years when Desperate Housewives was still around

    @Charmed – Tell that to Harry’s Law.

  • networkman

    Once Upon a Time’s episode was really great last night. The show is at its best when it focuses on Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin and Regina/Evil Queen. Even though Robin Hood was shown, he was not the main focus. In my opinion, viewers are starting to feel that their were too many characters introduced this season. There are two in particular that needs to be killed off quickly. Character overload causes people to feel a disconnect from the story and the original characters that we love. Robert Carlyle along with Lana Parrilla should really be recognized for providing stability and credibility to this fantasy show.

    ABC should not move forward with a spinoff of Once just yet. I would work on trying to rebuild this show, to see its demo numbers and viewership increase to a major hit status once more. The show still has the potential.

  • Alex

    Those aren’t especially happy half hours for Once Upon A Time and they point to bigger issues than the scheduling.

  • American

    Wow, the faces from that picture is perfect for the ratings. Remember when OUAT got 3′s? *Sigh*

  • Lisa

    If someone is invested in the show, people will tune in. OUAT quality, along with Revenge has gone down. It is not like Happy Endings or Apt 23 where it was on several different times and days. They have more of an “excuse” for lower ratings than OUAT. The only competition it has was TAR, which beat it. No TWD repeats or anything. Plus a recap show last week. I can only see it getting up into the mid 2′s next season, unless it has a great finale. The shows charm has worn thin.

  • BH

    ABC scheduling has killed OUAT!

  • Ron

    I wonder if Trump is pissed that Cuban and Shark Tank are eating his ass for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they are on a worse night for tv.

  • Alex

    @networkman
    ABC should not move forward with a spinoff of Once just yet…

    The Once spin-off doesn’t sound like a terrible idea and if nothing else it at least appears to be ABC attempting to address the recurring scheduling complaint from Once fans. That’s assuming that the reported plan of airing Wonderland at 8PM in between two blocks of Once is what they’re thinking of doing.

  • gerry

    I’m so happy TGW has already been renewed. CBS, please classify next year’s (full) season as the final season and let it go out in style, please!

    poor abc – though it looks like the movie fared ok.

    glad to see the apprentice numbers dropping. donald trump is gross.

    You know for all the talk that Sunday is such a great night for television you’d never know it by looking at the networks performance on the night. None of them are doing well on Sunday night this year (excluding football obviously).

  • Ann

    @networkman, I agree about Robert Carlyle. He’s great. Lana is good too but I don’t watch for her. I actually think there is too MUCH emphasis on her. For me, this season has not been the greatest but I liked last night’s episode other than the violence. But I love Belle so that’s probably why. Unfortunately, they didn’t really advertise that as much of a Rumple/BElle episode but focused on Robin Hood, who was not a big part of it at all.

    I hope the quality is better next season and they stop bringing so many new characters on and focus on the cast they have and get back to Fairytale stories and romance, and not so much on the dark side of fairytales. There was a heavy theme of darkness and torture last night which is not good, imo.

  • DW

    it seems to me that ABC needs to run 11 in the fall and run 11 starting in march. that way you run it all through without breaks.

  • SJ

    I wonder what ABC plans to do with Revenge and a potential new 10pm drama while Once is on hiatus. Revenge seems to be the show that needs to take a break during award season, more so than Once.

    @Alex

    Well, Red Widow is basically a waste of airtime at this point and the last episode of Revenge aired on a holiday – while still beating the HHOF movie – so that’s not really a fair comparison.

  • BigBrotherFan

    They could be doing WAY better with TCA if they aired it after an actual new episode of the voice not the same rerun NBC uses countless times a week!

    I imagine if TCA came on after the voice it be anywhere from 2.6-3.2

    My generation continues to disapoint by ignoring THE GOOD WIFE!

    ABC seems to be in the business of killing their shows!

  • Eliza Newton

    I hate that the Good Wife and to a lesser degree the mentalist do not do so well in the ratings.
    They are hands down the two best shows on CBS.

  • Alex

    Even if you take the 1.8 that Revenge pulled before the 1.5 that Hallmark movie still equals the (very rough and not entirely scientific) 9-11 average that ABC had been getting with originals.

  • Sunday

    Move that good wife to 10 pm already. I never understood “good” critics. I watched it once, and it felt old and boring. And I am a fan of legal drama.

  • Carl

    I wonder if the show’s message is confusing for viewers. I don’t remember Beauty and the Beast involving an amnesiac Belle being turned on by the Beast maiming and beating the life out of a man.
