CBS NEWS’ “FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER” IS THE #1 SUNDAY MORNING PUBLIC AFFAIRS SHOW

 

“FACE THE NATION” FINISHES FIRST IN VIEWERS AND HOUSEHOLDS (TIED) ON SUNDAY, APRIL 21

 

CBS News’ FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show. FACE THE NATION finished first in viewers and households (tied with NBC) on Sunday, April 21. The CBS broadcast posted 0.8/04 in adults 25-54 with 3.75m viewers and 2.5/07 in households, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. Editor’s Note: FACE THE NATION’s second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 65% of the CBS affiliates.

 

Compared to the same day last year, FACE THE NATION is up +14% in adults 25-54 (from 0.7/03) – the demographic most important to those who advertise in News – +19% in viewers (from 3.14m) and +14% in households (from 2.2/06).

 

Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is up +8% in viewers (3.25m from 3.01m), +10% in households (2.3/06 from 2.1/06) and even in adults 25-54 (0.8/03) compared to last year.  Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is first in adults 25-54 (tied with NBC), viewers and households (tied with NBC) among the Sunday morning public affairs programs.

 

On the broadcast, Bob Schieffer discussed the latest in the investigation of the Boston Marathon bombing with Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis, Gov. Deval Patrick (D-MA) and Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. CBS News Senior Correspondent John Miller and CBS News Justice and Homeland Security Correspondent Bob Orr reported the latest on the investigation. Schieffer also interviewed Carlee Soto, Erica Lafferty and Neil Heslin, family members of victims in the Newtown, Conn., school shooting and hosted a panel with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge.
