Vote In Our 4th Annual "Don't Save Their Show!" Poll

The silly season of meaningless "Save Our Show" polls from by entertainment sites (E! Online and USA Today among them) has begun!

Of course, those polls have no effect on any network decisions, but certainly give some fans the false hope that they're actually doing something to help their show.

If entertainment sites can spread false hope with their nonsense polls, maintaining the balance of the online TV universe* demands we spread false gloom with nonsense polls of our own!

In the 4th Annual** TV by the Numbers "Don't Save Their Show!" Poll you get to vote on which shows the TV networks should cancel instead of save!

There's only 22 hours in a broadcast primetime schedule (or 15, or 10), so every one of their shows that gets cancelled means more of a chance for your shows to get renewed (or so the logic of the desperate fan may suggest).

Included in the poll is every scripted broadcast primetime show (grouped by network) that either the Renew / Cancel Index or Bubble Watch has pegged as anything but renewed or cancelled already (plus the obviously canceled Smash, just for extra fun!)

Vote for as many shows as you'd like, as many times as you'd like!

I promise that the decisionmakers at the networks will give as much weight to your votes here as they do to the votes in all those silly "Save Our Show" polls: None!

*Not to mention generating traffic for us.

** Our readers picked Gossip Girl as the show they didn't want saved in last year's poll. It was ultimately renewed for a short final season, but, of course, our poll had nothing to do with it!

“It’s funny that TVBTN would call those Save our Shows “fluff” and “meaningless”…
It’s even funnier that this list is just like them.”

I’d like to think ours is both fluffier and more meaningless, but your mileage may vary.

Cancel Scandal because i’m still bitter about it being more popular than Revenge :/

  • MFitz

How can Revolution have a terrible 3rd season when it hasn’t had a second season yet? Some people are just nitwits here.

“buzzkill” = reality check for the crazy

What’s crazier: fans of shows who want those shows to live and by overwhelming margins don’t care the least bit about understanding how ratings work? Or a Quixotic quest to set people who aren’t the least bit interested in “how/why” straight?

  • MFitz

Especially me as the poster said Revenge not Revolution DUH! Never Mind me I’m a moron lol

  • Ivan

As usual my vote goes to All Sitcoms, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, All Teen Dramas and similar cheesy shows with no action. :D

  • Holly Quixote

    Did someone call me?

And the world will be better for this,
That one man, scorned and covered with scars,
Still strove, with his last ounce of courage,
    To reach the unreachable stars!

Thank You TVBTN – that was fun. :)

Of course half the list selected its self and of those I nominated only a paltry 50% will get cancelled (with no reference at all to my voting choices in this poll).

Or is there perhaps a hint of a secretly approved industry deal to take these poll results and implement them if a networks can not decide what to renew in house ??????

Fantasy or perhaps the TRUTH !!!! ;)

You, of all people, should know I’m not interested in setting anybody straight.

Having fun while mocking both those ridiculous entertainment site polls and the people who believe they have any effect is the only objective!

I voted on Deception and a handful of comedies.
Deception has no clarity in the storyline, it’s a jumbled mess and it will only get worse in the second season. Deception will be in the same place Smash is this time next year if if comes back.
The rest I voted for are just really crappy sitcoms from people who don’t know how to write humor.

Kill them all but OuAT, Community, Grimm and Revolution! Although I’m not sure why, since this year’s crop of pilots don’t sound that impressive and if they cancel shows, they’ll just have to greenlight more pilots that will probably be no better. Broadcast is circling the drain.

  • saffron

PS, you should calculate the numbers on the poll differently since you are letting people vote multiple times. It shouldn’t be adding up to 100%. That skews the results because I’m sure some of those shows are getting well north of 50% votes to kill them haha.

I’ve never liked this post. I know it drives traffic and I know it’s a response to dumb polls on other websites, but it just seems petty and plays into the mercantilist fallacy of television. I hate the idea some people have that the only way for their show to be successful is for every other show to fail. It’s that kind of invective that makes me avoid the comments many times. I much prefer the substantive comment threads than all the “REVENGE SUCKS #SCANDAL RULES!” crap.

I voted for The Clevland show and Smash!

  • Lodak

Smash is trying to get better, but is too late. The last episode was excellent IMO.

  • Ram510

Noooo Guys With Kids needs to be saved!!!

  • SJ

    Thanks, Robert. :)

Shockingly enough, the top vote-getters are actually some of the lowest rated and/or about-to-be-cancelled-any-minute-now shows. I think Nikita and Last Man Standing are the only two (almost) certain renewals that got more than 2% of the votes.

    Cancel ABC! ;-) :-)
