Heart of Darkness

The CW just announced renewals for Beauty and the Beast (second season) and  Hart of Dixie (third season). Vampire Diaries spinoff  The Originals has also been ordered to series.

Nikita deserves renewal more than Harpy and the Creep!

  • DenverDean

I think the Nikita issue is the number of episodes – we’ve heard everything from six to 13. They are probably trying to figure out what would work financially as well as storywise. Not concerned.

  • Nerdbot

Seriously, CW? How long will you wait until announce Nikita’s renewal?

  • Richard Steven Hack

That makes TWO utter crap shows renewed by the two lowest-rated networks: Revolution and BATB. Both networks will regret those renewals early next season.

We get to listen to these moron beasties for another season – or until the show collapses completely and is pulled from the CW schedule. :-)

Apparently it is true the CW has no ability to produce enough new shows to replace BATB.

Worse, this “girl meets alien” pilot the CW has for next season is likely to be the new BATB romantic series which will spawn a whole new bunch of “beasties.” Obviously the CW has decided to try to hang on to the (few) female viewers they still have from their disastrous female 18-34 push Dawn tried.

Well, this just means I get to finish all my CW posts from now on for the entire next season with:

    DEATH TO BATB! :-)

Guess will see if Klaus will be the king of New Orleans next season :) Hope CW picks up The Tomorrow People as well :)

  • TJ

@Mi, I agree, they’re probably trying to decide what number of new episodes that they want for their new series + Nikita in combination. It makes me wonder if ANY of other new series will get a full season. they might do several of them with 13-episode orders as has been speculated.

  • Dochas

With The Originals pickup, I wonder if they will pair it with TVD and move BaTB? As long as they don’t touch Wednesday’s. Will they renew Nikita and pair it with HoD on Tuesday’s? What are they going to have for Monday’s and Friday’s? I’ve lost track of shows.

Someone needs anger management classes ;) Chill out and relax, no use getting mad at a network for making business decision.

  • Jamie

Both renewed for full seasons, great!!

I think it’s just working out episode orders for Nikita. Probably 13 episodes midseason!

Then The CW can pair Top Model/Carrie on Fridays in the fall.

  • Beauty&theFlop

I bet the CW will be loving Beauty & the Flops 0.3s this time next year.

  • Lukes

Does this mean that Carrie diaries is condemned?

  • LeighLee

YES! So happy for BATB! Now I just have to wait for the slow pokes at ABC.

  • Immaculate

Poor BatB haters. Eventually you guys will be right.

  • Tommy

Well goodbye “The Carrie Diaries”… it was fun while it lasted.

  • Rachel

Haha. All those arguments about TCD having a better shot at renewal than B&tB are void.

  • MichaelChickless

I guess The Carrie Diarrheas didn’t make it.

  • Tony

DAMN..Where is NIKITA..The best show on CW after TVD. DAMN for BATB to..last year they cancelled TSC and this one renewed BATB. That is not fair..

  • Beauty and the flop

Batb will fall from its current emily owens flop level to 90210 levels next season. Or even lower since it won’t air with tvd anymore. This will be even funnier than seeing it canned today. Lol

  • hubert r

I thought nikita was already renewed? There were a lot of threads in my country saying that the CW ordered 10 episodes for the final season. I guess someone made it up then, and pretty much everyone believed.

  • Richard Steven Hack

Dochas: Nothing was said about scheduling, so my guess is BATB definitely moves from Thursday to be replaced by The Originals.

Anywhere BATB goes it will drop to a .5 average at its debut and drop to .4 by end of its second season. It will not be renewed for syndication reasons then, either.

I don’t expect Nikita to be moved. I DO expect a full 22-episode order for it in order to get to 88 for syndication, despite the rumors. I’m also not surprised at it not being renewed yet – there’s no reason for the CW to tout the show at all given its ratings on the dead night.

HoD renewal was no surprise. Only question is whether it will be moved to another night, including Friday. Moving it to Friday might be risky given it’s only pulling .5-.6 at this point. They probably should leave it where it is given its stability there.

Given the state of the CW, moving Nikita to Friday in its second season was probably a mistake. Nikita probably could have clawed its way up to a .6 average in its second season had the CW waited to see. Moving it to Friday guaranteed the .5 season two average.

Carrie Diaries of course is dead as a doornail. Although now that the CW has demonstrated its weakness by renewing BATB, who know how stupid the network will be?
