Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Uh Oh, suddenly Hannibal doesn’t look like its a lock for renewal. It did no better than Community at 1.0 & even had the same number of viewers. Not too worried about P&R, it should be back next season. Congrats to Scanal that handily won the 10pm hour.

  • Dochas

    Not surprised by TVD but I thought it was the strongest episode they’ve had in the past two seasons. I hope The Originals gets picked up because I believe it’s going to be much better than Diaries.

  • feinn

    Batb is cancellation now? Tsc 2.0

  • s0303

    batb and hannibal :(

    not surprised tvd didn’t do that well…i had no interest in “the originals” premiere disguised as an episode of tvd…

    really good for scandal, though i would be surprised if it beats grey’s in the final ratings…

  • Glue

    2 And A Half Men, Glee, The Big Bang Theory, The Vampire Diaries, Parks And Recreation, Community and American Idol fell hard. (TVD Fell from a 1.0)

    How the hell did Scandal go up?

  • Ethan

    Hopefully the cw passes originals…one crappy vampire show is enough

  • ryan

    BATB:(

    okay we are f.. up now

  • BenUK

    Noooooooo TVD noooooooo

  • Ed B

    I hope BATB adjusts up. TVD ratings was horrible. No one wants to see The Originals.

  • Janus

    Supernatural does better than Vampire Diaries for second time this year. Amazing.

  • Sky

    Is that 2.7 demo rating for POI correct? Marc Berman’s half hours for the show are 2.5 and 2.3. Shouldn’t that mean POI actually scored a 2.4 for the hour?

  • John

    Hannibal is done. Glad I didn’t get invested in the show. Mads Mikkelsen is an amazing actor though. I hope he does more TV projects in the future.

  • senor chang

    @SJ
    I know you’re probably right, but I’m still going to make an angry-judgey face at you for your withering realism. > : (

    @Tony JJ
    I don’t get this reasoning. It sucks that shows are cancelled, yes, but wouldn’t you rather have thirteen episodes of a show you like than…four?

  • Liz

    I’d love to see half hours on TVD. I can’t imagine plenty of people didn’t turn it off in disgust after the big “hook” for the spin-off was revealed. LOLOLOL.

  • Samuel

    Did anyone else get really depressed reading this?

  • Gabe

    Bloody hell. Scandal tied second with TAAHM, beat Greys, American Idol and Person of Interest. Who would have thought a year ago? Not a fan of the show, but well done anyway!

  • CrimTV

    @Ed B

    I hardly think that saying TVD’s ratings are ‘horrible’ when last weeks preliminary for TVD was a 0.9 too. CW will probably still pick up The Originals because a 0.9 is still a good rating for The CW!

  • Juan

    Damn what happened to TV last night I’m happy thought that scandal and grey’s did fine, scandal hit series high, also hope grey’s gets adjusted up, I thought it was such a great episode and really wanted it to be up, haven’t seen scandal yet though

  • MichaelChickless

    POI? Come on! Elementary? Not too bad….

    Hannibal? No! Community? No!

    Is it too late to bring back the Paul Reiser Show? ;-) :-)
