Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

SCANDAL – NUMBER 1 SCRIPTED SHOW OF THE WEEK (BEATING NCIS AND GREY’S ANATOMY)!!!!!!!!!!

  • CrimTV

I think it’s time that Elena gets her emotions back, people obviously don’t like the fact she is emotionless

  • Bee

OH MY GODDD!!!!! GO SCANDAL GO SCANDAL GO SCANDAL!!!!!!!! the one show fans do not miss!!! :)
it would be amazing if it beat or tied greys, but i suspect itll adjust down as greys adjusts up.

and wow at the lows this week. repeat madness and the spring hit hard.

  • KarenM

Hannibal’s going to be cancelled for sure! *SIGH*

  • Chris

Too much discontinuity with basketball and other Thursday evening stuff.. POI needs to be more regularly programmed…. Not twice in like 5-6 weeks. Really hurts the continuity of the show and the story lines.

NUMBER 1 SCRIPTED DRAMA ON TV I MEAN.

  • NBC Fan

It is me or do breaks actually help Scandal?

  • Liz

The Originals is going to be possibly the most racist show on broadcast. Almost all of the witches on TVD have been black, and they keep being made to do the bidding of the white vampires. Now there’s finally a story about the witches revolting against their oppression…only now they’re white and they’re going against a black vampire king. Unbelievable.

  • RyanCanada

OMG i hope BATB, TVD and Elementary all Adjust up! PLEASEEEEEEEEE

  • Keith

I really don’t get this whole excuse about the draft. If I were a Nielsen member, I would still watch my shows live and press that button every 15 mins to ensure that they continue to get good ratings over a draft pick. I mean what is the point of watching that live? Can’t they refresh their internet browsers to see who the picks are while watching their shows live?

  • TJ

I’m not sure what to make of TVD ratings. It’s tempting to blame storylines, etc, but the demo ratings for it got lower last spring, too. I’m not sure how the overall viewership numbers compare to last season, but are those dramatically lower than this time last year? The viewership drop is what has stood out to me, but I always figured that as long as younger viewers hung in there the CW didn’t care much about that.

  • KarenM

PoI’s always had tough competition from GA. Not sure why GA still does well. Good job for PoI anyway.

  • Andrew Dias

    @NBC Fan

I noticed that, too. Should it’s ratings hold, it will be the second time Scandal comes back from hiatus to a series high.

  • John A

Ah i didnt like TVD/The Originals Pilot. Its worrying that TVD is growing back to 1.2 area.

  • Joseph

Well done scandal! Number one drama of the week! Congratulations!

  • Billy

Everyone needs to calm down about the CBS shows this week. They will be fine going forward. You had the NFL Draft and first week they went up against NBA playoffs. CBS skews more male and they lost plenty of male viewers to sporting events last night.

Notice how ABC and FOX take less hits against these sports. They are female skewing.

  • MichaelChickless

Glue “How the hell did Scandal go up?”

People who watch soap operas usually aren’t interested in the NFL Draft.

  • Mon

I hope TBBT adjusts up by 0.3 again. TAAHM looks weaker than 2BG considering the former has stronger lead-in and not against The Voice.

  • Stop the Flop

    “Floppibal”

    Now that really reaching.

  • Bri

Everything was way down especially on CBS. POI at a 2.4 way down from its last showing. At least BBT had good numbers. Don’t remember the last time Two and a half men went under a 3.0.

Glad to see idol getting some low number. Very happy that scandal was ABC highest rated show :)
