via press release:

  • At 8 p.m. ET, "Fashion Star" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall) finished within 0.1 of a point of its previous 18-49 rating (which matched the series high), despite the prior week's preemption for news coverage.  In total viewers, "Fashion Star" is currently running within 1 percent of that prior telecast (2.916 million vs. 2.945 million on April 12), making this the #2 "Fashion Star" since March 8, when the season premiere averaged 2.961 million viewers (pending updates).
  • At 9 p.m. ET, "Grimm" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall), which aired its first original in three weeks, finished within 0.1 of its 1.4 average for originals since returning to the schedule on March 8 and also rated within 0.2 of its prior original (1.5 on April 5).  "Grimm" built on its lead-in last night by 86 percent in 18-49 rating and 67 percent in total viewers.  "Grimm" is the #1 scripted series in the time period on CBS, NBC and Fox in every key demographic.
  • Note that "Grimm" is one of the most time-shifted series on broadcast television, with the show's prior original on April 5 growing by 79 percent from its "live plus same day" 18-49 rating (1.51) to its "live plus seven day" result (2.70).
  • From 10-11 p.m. ET, "Rock Center with Brian Williams" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall) scored its second-highest adult 18-49 and 25-54 ratings (1.3) in seven weeks (since March 8), trailing over that span only the prior week's series-record ratings with coverage of the capture of the Boston bombing suspect.  In total viewers, it's the #2 "Rock Center" in four weeks (since March 29)

Grimm is a fun show and I’m glad that it’s doing well. Best hour long show on the network since “Chuck”.

  • DenverDean

Only NBC could tout a show finishing 15% BELOW it’s last original as good news. Good grief. I hope Grimm does well on Tuesday and glad it’s renewed.

  • Cory

Honestly this is even more ridiculous than ABC’s laughable press releases.

  • Mike

@DenverDean considering what usually happens to NBC shows that go on a month-long hiatus every other month I’d say “almost average” is a win.

  • DenverDean

@Mike And that’s why NBC is in the position it is in. Why on earth did they air RFL on Tuesday when they could’ve aired the delayed REV at 9/8 and moved Grimm’s Tuesday 10/9 start up a week early. They had the episode ready from last Friday. If they only spent as much time on their scheduling as they do on their releases, they’d be in better shape.

    @ Cory

Yeah, it kind of is. ABC may spin numbers astonishingly, but at least after the spin, it *looks* impressive if you’re not paying attention to the actual ratings or willing to read between the lines. This is NBC bragging about things and barely even bothering to put a spin on it. I mean, look at the headline! “Look! This show did about average!”

To be fair, Grimm did do okay, so this isn’t like ABC trying to turn Work It’s flop ratings into something to brag about (which they did, seriously). But they couldn’t at least try to dress it up better than “this show did about average”?

  • Ali

It wasn’t original. Everyone i know, myself included has already seen the episode last week!!!

  • Ijahq

@Ali, it was new to me. I got the Boston feed last week, so this was my first time seeing it.

  • cimmer

NBC made such a mess of the scheduling they’re lucky anyone at all was watching. First they preempt the ep and show a repeat after advertising a brand new ep. Then they decided they’re going to move Grimm to Tuesday at the end of this month rather than simply finishing out the season on Friday and using that time to advertise that the show will be moving to a new night NEXT season. Then they decided to show the new ep this Friday but a lot of people had already watch the ep online rather then wait. Now to top it off we’re going to have another ep on Tuesday which will be new but because a lot of people didn’t watch it on Friday they may or may not figure out about the move. NBC: Nothing But Confusion.

Ha, I can’t believe this was a real press release!

  • Randy

Big deal. Grimm had poor competition during that night going against Vegas (which is a dead show), Touch (which is also going to be cancelled), cw’s dumb rerun game show, and Shark Tank. I think Grimm 8 years ago would be one of the best of that type of show, but I have gotten so burned out on that type of show with Bones, CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, and sort of Fringe.

I watched Touch though because this season to me was so much superior than the last season. The sad thing is that people probably never started watching it this season because of last season. However, that last episode was probably the worst ep out of this season. I still rather watch Touch than Grimm because of burnout. It’s NOT the fact that Grimm isn’t a good show, but it’s just that type of show has been done way too much. It’s time for networks to change it up already. Too much police / robbers / murderers type of crime on tv.

  • Carl

I think Grimm’s ratings are perfectly understandable, given the timeslot, but this is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

  • kevin

watched this show once. it was the last time ive seen it

  • Ashley

@ Cimmer, totally agree. NBC people are idiots. Love Grimm. One of two shows I actually watch on NBC, this and The Voice. Nothing else interests me besides these two shows. I hate their entire Thursday comedy lineup. Not sure who it’s catered to but obviously not the general public.

” I think Grimm 8 years ago would be one of the best of that type of show, but I have gotten so burned out on that type of show with Bones, CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, and sort of Fringe.”

Wait….what? Grimm isn’t even remotely like any of those shows you listed. Have you even watched the show?

  • georgeb

We love Grimm. I think the dead end time spot is going to kill the show.
