TV Ratings Friday: 'Grimm' & 'Happy Endings' Fall as 'Vegas' & 'Blue Bloods' Rise

CBS was number one in adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

On ABC, Happy Endings earned a 0.5 at 8PM and an 0.6 at 8:30, both down from their last original's 0.8 adults 18-49 rating at 8PM & 0.7 at 8:30PM. Shark Tank earned a 1.9, down two tenths from its last original's 2.1.   20/20 earned a 1.2, down half a ratings point from last week's 1.7 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS, Undercover Boss earned a 1.6, up a tenth from last week's  1.5 adults 18-49 rating . Vegas garnered a 1.0, up two tenths from its last original's 0.8 adults 18-49 rating. Blue Bloods scored a 1.4, up a tenth from its last episode's 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.

On NBC Fashion Star scored a 0.7, down a tenth from its last episode's 0.8 adults 18-49 rating. Grimm earned a 1.3, down two tenths from its last original's 1.5   Rock Center garnered a 0.9, down a full point from last week's 1.9  adults 18-49 rating.

On the CW, Nikita was even with last week's 0.3 adults 18-49 rating.

  • In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.6/6; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.3/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.8/5 with an encore.
  • In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 Wednesday results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.7/3; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/4 with an encore.
  • From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET Wednesday night, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
  • From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/3).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).
  • At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    the ratings for Happy Endings really don’t surprise me. I’ve tried to watch that show several times. It’s just painful to watch, because you keep hoping at some point your going to laugh. Things just seem forced, like they are trying too hard to be funny, and its just falls flat.

    By 0.3 I am referring to the season to date average – 0.35 and 1.16m. Its down 50% in the demo and 49% in total viewers from last year and it will only drop further with another season.

    Its only earned two 0.5s this season, how exactly is that “several?”

    Will the ratings matter much form this episode? It did air in most NBC affiliated markets, the copy I watched had NBC’s logo. Still should be interesting to see the ratings for its first Tuesday outing!

    Just watched the two new episodes of Happy Endings and thought they were great. I really hope this show gets renewed or saved by another network. Come on Sony work your magic. More people should watch this show.

    And you have NO evidence Nikita is NOT doing fantastically well in every country on the planet except the US. The simple fact is no one knows what the status of practically any show is internationally because apparently no one either here or elsewhere bothers to keep track.

    So no evidence it isn’t a hit means you get to say it is without proof? Sorry but no … Nikita doesn’t get a pass because you think MQ is spank bank material.
