Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Dan S, where was it announced that Hawaii moves to Fridays this summer? Even if it does, it’s because it repeats better than Good Wife, which is a more likely candidate. CBS doesn’t usually tip its hand. They do “practice” scheduling before upfronts that usually doesn’t indicate what will really happen. Last year, everyone thought they would do 4 comedies on Thu.

  • DW

    CBS usually wins the night in broadcast terms with ratings and in total viewers. i say keep both TGW and TM at that slot for another year. they have been steady against major competition . i have said before that if they do move it that you could put an hour of sitcoms in there but no why in hell , if your cbs do you put a new show in on sunday nights. it would be wasting the networks time.

  • Austin

    Nashville may have ratings that match an NBC drama, however, it can gain more money than it usually would because of the music purchases on iTunes.

    TheFrenchGuy:
    Good Wife will never move to Sundays at 10pm. CBS is conscious about how delays have hurt its serialization. They would never move it later. So many bad ideas here!!

  • DW

    oops my odd southern thoughts crept in there i meant way not why. it sounded like why in my head. :)

    @thesnowleopard

    Wait what? I wasn’t speaking in regards to the ratings, I was speaking about the popularity of the character. Basically show discussion lol

    My bad. Sorry if I gave off the wrong impression with regards to my Regina comments.

    –When the least watched show wins the 9pm hour you just have to admit the rating system is ridiculous–

    When you make a statement like that you have to admit you have no idea how the ratings system works and what it is for.

    Last nights episode of Revenge was fantastic especially the part with the truth about Victoria’s son being exposed on tv. Emily Thorne is back bitches.

    Screw Scandal. I can’t wait for ABC to stop overhyping that show so it can start to sink. When it does I’ll be here. :D

    Wow, if there are no adjustments, Once Upon a Time will have split its season premiere rating in half! Quality has been the major issue this season, and I think the rough scheduling just expedited the downfall of this show.

    I watched Once Upon a Time last night for the first time in months, and I have to say that it’s improved a little bit from its disastrous fall episodes. However, a major issue with Once Upon a Time is the fairy tale flashbacks. It was getting kind of confusing since the curse is now broken. The scenes in Storybrooke were actually decent.

    Also, the boatload of unnecessary new characters this season turned me off. Stick to the core characters, and further develop them. There is really no main purpose this season (unlike season 1 which had a clear focus), so the storylines feel convoluted. I hope this show regains focus next season, because last season it was one of my favorite shows on television.

    I also think it’s funny that Max ended up being right about everything. I remember in the beginning of the season when Revenge was in the high 2’s, he said it would end up in the 1’s by the time spring rolled around. We all mocked him, but that’s exactly what ended up happening! He also said that Scandal, which was averaging a 2.0 at that point, would rise to the high 2’s, and despite our doubts, that’s exactly what happened; it’s now the #1 10PM show!

    @Melissa. It was obvious scandal in the beginning was as solid as rock it was obvious that these numbers were going to burst and revenge went to 1s after all of the Sunday specials he wasn’t entirely right

  • Andrew Dias

    @rob60990

    Look at the Scandal hater! Where were you when Scandal was the #1 drama in Thursday nights? Actually increasing on its lead-in, Grey, nonetheless, for the very first time?
    Stay hating.

    Being steady does not guarantee a breakthrough. Take Criminal Minds; it averaged a 3.6 for three consecutive seasons yet never took off as a big hit.

    I’m pretty sure Max said that Revenge would not be able to withstand the vigorous Sunday specials, which would lead to a midseason collapse. He was right on point.

  • aciel

    @melissa
    it was obvious that revenges ratings were going to collapse during sunday specials but im shocked that once upon a time dropped this much because last year it didnt take such a hit.
    as for scandal it rose after fitz was shot abc hyped up this episode so much and i guess scandal just held onto its gains because scandal is the type of show that holds its audience

  • Patrick Ausgewahlt

    Grimm’s season high is a 2.0 rating. Once Upon A Time’s season (and series) low is a 2.0 rating. In terms an an ABC Press Release “The Voice fueled Grimm” will probably beat out Once Upon A Time this week. Not 100% sure, but I’d be surprised if they didn’t atleast tie.

  • racer

    @The End My reply was disallowed–perhaps due to linked articles. TAR is re-broadcast in Canada, Asia, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, etc. Long Live The Amazing Race!

  • The End

    @racer

    Thankyou for making the effort, didn’t know the show was that popular worldwide lol

  • Rebecca

    @thesnowleopard
    We’ll see what happens with Regina. Heroes references are basically lost on me – I watched only the first season (to me the show needn’t have continued past that; I saw it as just a one season show and stopped watching).

  • Rook

    Well Revenge and OUAT will get a renewal, and since its season 3 they will get a season 4, the only question being how many episodes.

  • Beauty and the flop

    Worried about Revolution and OUAT, both just hit series low. But maybe that’s what OUAT gets for neglecting amazing fan favorite characters like Ruby.

  • The End

    @Rook

    22 Episodes for Once and Revenge.
