Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    any chance FOX will get ‘Futurama’ back and air it after ‘The Simpsons’?

  • The End

    @bobby

    Are you playing a game called ‘How many fan excuse bingo excuses can I put in one post’? Because if you are, tell us now before your post ends up being dismantled by people lol

  • Holly

    @The End,

    I’m not sure most of that is coherent enough to qualify as Fan Excuse Bingo. It seems like it boils down to “my show got low ratings because old people suck”

  • HV

    I guessed exact for Revenge! Guessed 2.1 for OUAT though. And 1.1 for Red Widow.

  • Natlie

    If FOX get ‘Futurama’ back, will they air it after ‘The Simpsons’?

  • scifi

    OUAT cancellation, here we come!

  • Simon

    @scifi
    Keep dreaming. S3 is still a lock.

  • Joel

    Revenge low ratings isn’t based on scheduling, at least not exclusively. The show is boring with plotholes and characters you don’t understand or care about. I think if it continues along this path even it’s most die-hard fans will be satiated by a third season. Replacing the producer may be what’s needed to save the show, but once a show starts a downward spiral, and make no mistake this is a downward spiral, it’s almost regain viewer interest. If ratings dropped solely based on scheduling the show could go on for years, but in this case people tuned in to see the show and realized it had already peaked.

  • Carl

    @Elena – what were the other shows the NY Post mentioned?

  • Liz

    @Rebecca

    They killed August do not mince words. All that is left is Pinocchio. The writers of Once better make up for all the crap this season. Someone should tell them character development is more important then shock value plotting.

  • Brad

    @Natalie

    Futurama is not coming back to Fox. Ever. It’s dead.

  • networkman

    The ABC network would be an idiot if they kept these dramas on Sunday night in the Fall. I do have to admit that Once Upon A Time has introduced too many characters. Revenge is back on track and still rather strong. I feel it shares an audience with The Good Wife. Desperate Housewives ratings decreased with competition from The Good Wife.

  • Brandy

    Sad Once keeps dropping.I really hope the ratings rebound next season.
