Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Not bad for Revenge. Hope it stays steady for next few weeks.

  • outlawz

    whats with does x

  • nerv

Family Guy and American Dad topped the 9pm hour again despite having the least number of viewers in their respective half-hours! Rev, TGW and CA did not even beat AD which is weaker compared to FG. FOX should maintain this block with only The Cleveland Show’s cancellation changing everything.

    Those are very young-skewing shows!

  • The End

    @Tony JJ

It’s not just the scheduling affecting Once Upon a Time, the quality of quite a few episodes this season has been lacking, and the show at times has felt directionless. Season 1 had that magic that Season 2 is lacking.

  • DW

im no fan of either GOT or revenge but one would think that if your a fan of both your going with GOT since it has that event way about it and watch revenge at 10 or wait til monday when there is not much on

  • omabin

I was hoping for a 1.8/1.9 for Revenge, hopefully it adjusts up. I didn’t hate the first half of the season as a lot of people did, but I do agree that it lacked a bit focus and that it wasn’t as good as last year. However, the second half of the season has been incredible, I am sad the ratings don’t reflect this! OUAT, I still love it, but it just a big mess at the moment.

Once isn’t plummeting and will certainly get it’s third season. That may have been announced already, I don’t know. But they have got to be concerned about this looking at the ratings from last fall through the winter/spring. It’s been an almost steady loss of viewers. Maybe it will adjust up slightly.

And it still is one of the best in demos for the night. But when they continue to lose viewers every week almost consistently they have to be concerned. My hope is that this makes them look at some of the writing and so on and try to make some changes, although I do think the scheduling has played into it somewhat.

  • Gabe

Horrible ratings all around. Can’t believe that the top show gets a mere 2.5. Miss the days Desperate Housewives was pulling monstrous numbers.

  • ally

When the least watched show wins the 9pm hour you just have to admit the rating system is ridiculous

  • Seth

Excellent for Revenge. Should guarantee full season renewal order.

  • Ryne

Ok, I will be the first one to talk about CBS. The Mentalist was a good episode last night

  • glover

America finally giving Once Upon a Time and Revenge the awful ratings they deserve.

Scandal #1 drama on broadcast TV.

  • Bookworm

Revenge was on par with what I thought it would be. OUAT is tragic and another hit, it will below a 2.0. This was a show that got a 2.9 last year during this time. It is sad and I don’t know what ABC needs to do to pick it back up. I’m not really into the story lines much but it has to be more than that.

I disagree with anyone who says scheduling has ruined them, at least anyone who believe that is the sole reason. I don’t doubt scheduling makes a difference but all ABC shows and shows on other networks face long breaks in between episodes and not all of them come back with lows or continue to drop to lows. Scandal, Grey and Castle are three examples of shows that don’t drop much from breaks. Granted Grey is a little more shakier than the other two, it still hasn’t been hit sharply by breaks and if it does, it usually rises in an episode or two.

Scandal is the exception because it comes back to highs after a long term break (two 3 week breaks and they came back to a series high of 2.8). Either way, ABC needs to revamp Sunday in the Fall because Revenge and OUAAT won’t survive the competitive night any longer.

  • Skylar James

OUAT and Revenge need to be moved to Mondays

  • a p garcia

One reason why ABC Sunday lineup keeps dropping is that ABC likes to air their specials on Sunday and add to this problem is that when specials aren’t on, many repeats are also on Sunday. If it weren’t for sites like this I to would tune in to repeats.

  • r0ckmypants

@outlawz – 2/3 of its lineup dropped, and it came in third at 9:00. Beast? No.

  • Raul

Once ratings last year for the season finale was 3.3 with 9.66 million viewers followed by the Housewives with 11 million viewers and a 3.2. How will the finale of Once be these year since Revenge is doing lower than Once.

  • psychic

Once Upon A Time is dropping because its quality is.

  • Herald

ABC has really messed up OUAT and Revenge with scheduling.

  • Ash

I get a good laugh at the OUAT fans freaking out about its ratings. Every show has the same scheduling problems. It’s the quality of OUAT that has led to the drop in ratings.
