Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Terrible numbers for TGW finale. I don’t know why it keeps getting renewed.

  • Ike

    @Sara Bibel, there should not be a second apostrophe in “Bob’s Burgers” in your second paragraph.

  • JJF

    Red Widow only has 1 eppy left? ABC might as well let it air. Although I think ABC should’ve just let it burn off these past 2 weeks instead of reruns.

  • Holly

    @Billy,

    Terrible numbers for TGW finale. I don’t know why it keeps getting renewed.

    Syndication money, and the fact CSI: NY costs more to produce.

  • MichaelChickless

    Go The Mentalist! To a different timeslot next season!

  • Christian

    @omabin

    Look at OUAT’s ratings trend last year.

    ABC also scheduled them against the same sports and awards shows. It held up better last year.

  • PMR

    Revenge is “unofficially renewed” with a new creative team next year. I hope it gets a better time slot or paired with another great show like Greys/Scandal are. Its amazing that it didn’t fall lower with no regular follow up 10pm show. Red Widow is beyond horrible. ABC just needs to show the remaining 666 Park Ave shows and admit they screwed up.

  • Gabe

    @eridapo

    If quality was truly such an issue, the show’s ratings would have dropped faster from the beginning and not dramatically after airing against 2 awards shows and NFL. People who weren’t too happy about the writing didn’t watch those three shows and then gave up on the show all together. Dramas like Revenge and Once simply don’t work on Sundays. Even DH was semi procedural and thus anyone could watch almost any episode and be fine.

  • Rachel

    @Skylar James

    And Castle should go to Sundays? No way.

  • rochiss

    Hope Once adjust up!
    I agreed that the damaged has been done with this season, the good part is that the writers will have to delivered next season, they are no longer in the “hit show” comfort zone.

  • Rebecca

    Enjoyed OUAT and BB – it’s always fun to see BB’s opening sequence to see what the store next to them will be named. “Break-a-Bear Teddy Bear Disposal,” lol. It’s as fun as seeing what Bart writes on the chalkboard each week on “The Simpsons” (if he still does it – I haven’t watched in a while). I’m easily entertained, I guess.

    Hope the next two weeks of OUAT are awesome.

  • rochiss

    BTW some cast members have confirm that they will start shotting season 3 on july.

  • HT

    A year ago when I was on here upset at the very incosistent scheduling of Revenge, people were out to scalp me. Now it seems others have caught on. If ABC had shown the season (as all other countries do) over 22 weeks, it might have stood a chance. Cable do this, so why shouldn’t network tv show it’s audience the same courtesy? They CAN afford it financially.

  • Holly

    Bill Gorman and Robert Seidman,

    Normally I don’t really care about the personal attacks toward me, but this last one seems rather beyond the pale. Could you please take care of it?

    Thanks!

  • Nerdbot

    I predicted 1.7-1.8 for Revenge and, sadly, I was right (sadly, because I wanted it to perform better). However, after seeing the half-hours, I hope it gets adjusted up.

  • HT

    I guess GCB isn’t looking too bad right now to ABC – they should have given it a chance – the only thing terrible about it were the pilot and the name.

  • tv_viewer

    Jerry had it right. When the writers of Once Upon A Time included a scene of Regina making Henry forget last night, viewers will ask why didn’t Regina use it to make Henry forget about the book or the scene where Regina and Mr. Gold were prepared to block anyone from entering Storybrooke through the well that Mary Margaret and Emma eventually used. Regina could have used the memory and the transportation spell on Henry when she decided to block the entrance to Storybrooke. The combination of the two spells could have make it too easy for Regina or anyone with magical powers to achieve their goals.

    Scheduling does affect ratings as the last season of Desperate Housewives proved. However Desperate Housewives managed to climb back from the lows of Grammy night to the series finale. The drop in ratings for OUAT is due to scheduling and the quality of the show.

  • Ken

    I don’t think the quality or the scheduling is as big a factor in OUAT’s drop quite as much as people think – instead, I’d put the finger on the plot and general approach to the show. Season 2 is a bit more directionless (introducing concepts like the dream state as a one-off is an example) but it’s also a bit more serialized. Season 1 was full of episodic mysteries where we met the townspeople and found out how they connected. Season 2 is much harder to watch out of sequence without feeling lost. Never mind that the big gamble to end the Season 1 arc involving the curse and also bring magic to the real world was fascinating but perhaps came too soon.

  • Brenda

    And here I voted for 2.0 in that poll about Revenge. I cant say Im surprised, yes the scheduling has something to do with it. But Revenge has lost viewers since the decline in quality and its not getting them back. I hear its getting better but I cant bring myself to care like I used too. The thrill is gone for me.

  • Bryan

    Remember when people used to compare Revenge and Scandal? Well, it’s over now, Scandal won, and by a long shot. It’s destroying Revenge and Once.

    To be fair though, the story lines for Revege nd Once have been awful this season, especially Once. I’ve watched every episode, but I have no idea where they are going with it, and the season finale is around the corner. I can’t believe Josh Dallas didn’t return to do Thor 2 so he could play Charming. Waste.
