There's no suspense left in the remaining CBS drama renewal or cancellation decisions, so all that's left for the cancellation bear in these weekly posts is getting some headlines in place that will get some search engine love once frantic fans start searching for their previously canceled shows. Golden Boy is certain to be canceled.

The good news is that final up or down (no toss ups!) guesses arrive next Tuesday, May 7! No more boring rehashing of the CBS obvious, the end is near!

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.
*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

** The Renew/Cancel Index does not attempt to predict shows ending because the cast or production company chooses to end them. These shows have the ratings for renewal, but rumored cast/production company moves may end the shows.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, I will keep the "old"  Fall predictions in the table.

Want to know what the CBS Renew/Cancel Index table looked like at the end of the Fall season? Click here.

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

CSI: NY syndication deal is very high (3rd on CBS because The Mentalist is not owned by them) and it certainly improves Renewal chances for the Show.

I’m afraid that card has been played already a couple of times. Not sure if it’s enough to save the show this time.

  • jeanne

love golden boy and vegas. get sick of following shows just to get cancelled so fast

  • Jason

I really don’t understand why everyone wants to mix up their schedule. It’s not broken, so nothing should change. There’s no REASON to change anything. It blows me away all these people saying ‘this will be the schedule!’

  • Ultima

There’s no REASON to change anything.

Two of their open timeslots are on Friday, so they’ll have to move something in order to address that (same if they expand their Thursday comedy block).

Otherwise, yes, there’s no reason to shuffle around shows. Some people are just obsessed with the idea that the grass is always greener.

    @ Ultima and Jason

Who cares ? Schedule makers don’t want their schedule to happen (I hope so !). They are just saying what they think about next season’s CBS schedule.

  • Scifibookguy

“Golden Boy” is a great show, and I’m going to miss it :(

Those who call for “Golden Boy” to be canceled have never watched it.

  • MisterJ

Not sure why CBS would want to ruin a good thing by splitting up NCIS and NCISLA. And Elementary will likely continue to improve in its sophomore year.

  • Susan

I think Golden Boy is a great series as is Blue Bloods. Whoever makes
these decisions to cancel has no taste.

  • george gras

Golden Boy is too good a show to cancel, it was brought in late and could have a great future with a bit of faith,,,Bring in Catherine Bell as the new mayor or something along that line,,,cast is good though,,,this show could have a JAG like future,,,,CBS was the benefactor of that show being dumped by NBC after 1 season

  • Ultima

    @CBS Viewer
They are just saying what they think about next season’s CBS schedule.

And we’re just saying what we think about their ideas. If people don’t want their ideas criticized, they probably shouldn’t share them in a public forum.

  • Ultima

Those who call for “Golden Boy” to be canceled have never watched it.

Why should that matter? Golden Boy has bad ratings whether or not I’ve seen it or like it.

  • mary

sorry to see that Golden Boy might be canceled ! such a good show…love the cast! why does such a good show get canceled.. and some of these so called comedy shows get renewed. Guess some people just do not like
shows where they might have to think. This show should NOT be canceled !!!!!

  • mandy

@Jeff (Canada) are Canadians really that stupid or are you the exception? Do you honestly think this list is showing Blue bloods & CSI-NY as owning Fri. Nights? Hell I would rather watch the waste of time you call hockey or sport only Canadians could mess up football. Its supposed to be 100 yds not 110 and if you miss a field goal its 0 points regardless if you kick it through the end zone. There is 1 good thing I like Canadians have done is Flashpoint

  • chuck

CBS needs to reconsider canceling Golden Boy especially after only 1 season. Give it at least 1 more season so it can explain more like how he got to office what happens to his partner & his arch nemesis. Drop Blue Bloods CSI-NY undercover Boss. Seriously who at CBS makes these decisions they keep horrible shows and drop good shows before they even had a chance. Drop all the reality shows. Either have Big Brother or Survivor. I prefer Survivor because its only 1 night a week I don’t watch CBS Not 3 or 4 nights a week however many nights Big Brother is on. Its so cheaply made they don’t even invest in Hi-Def cameras its 2013 I don’t want to watch a show with over quarter of screen missing

  • Randy

@Mandy you go girl! Tell them Canadians they are number 1 country at screwing up wet dreams! Look at CSI-NY & Blue Bloods & Undercover Boss are owning Friday Nights! I say a lot of Canadians thought show Undercover Boss was show about married people recording them in bed farting and then pulling sheets over their wife’s heads! No that’s called Dutch Oven not Undercover Boss! Then again Canada National Past time is Hockey so we should be nice. I think they also invented that what they call a sport & have no idea how they got it in the Olympics I think its Curling? Were they sweep ice?

  • Sara Jean

Golden Boy!!! Give it a chance! Both of those featured actors are awesome. Come on leave it alone. Do Not Cancel Golden Boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tom b

damn i love Golden Boy and Vegas –looks like i wont be watching cbs much .

  • dan

I think the Honchos at CBS need to get there brain examined. To many decent shows being cancelled. Year after year it seems they move a good show into a terrible time frame knowing its going to lose audience. Take moving the top rated Menatalist to sundays. What genious thought that up? If you want to attract viewers to watch shows then every new show should be guaranteed a two year run. People will talk to say co-workers,friends and whoever else about what they watch and people tune in to check it out. Then make a cancelation if needed. To be honest, these studio execs wouldn’t know a decent show if it bit them in the ass.

  • Clark Barrineau

My wife and I love Golden Boy. I don’t understand? I also love Criminal Minds and have since it started but compared to the rest of the series that I watch Golden Boy is one of my favs…

  • Rebecca
