NEW YORK, May 1, 2013 -- Add “Inside Amy Schumer” to the growing list of COMEDY CENTRAL’s recent hits, joining the successful roster of new series introduced this year by the #1 brand in comedy, including the recently renewed “Nathan for You” and “The Jeselnik Offensive” and previously renewed “Kroll Show.”  Last night’s series premiere of “Inside Amy Schumer” drew over three million total viewers across three plays for the night, and earned bragging rights as the #1 premiere among COMEDY CENTRAL’s unprecedented burst of original series launched in 2013.

The premiere play of “Inside Amy Schumer” (10:30-11:00 p.m.) drew 1.6 million total viewers and 1.2 million Adult 18-49 viewers (1.1 Adult 18-49 rating) and rated extremely well among young men with a 2.4 Men 18-34 rating and a 2.8 Men 18-24 rating.  In its time slot, the premiere was the #1 entertainment series in all of television with Men 18-34 and Men 18-24 and the #1 in Cable with Adults 18-49 (NBA on TNT was overall #1).  In addition, “Inside Amy Schumer” had the best premiere among COMEDY CENTRAL’s 2013 new series launches across all key demographics, topping “The Jeselnik Offensive” in total viewers (up +14%) and Adults 18-49 (up +16%) and “Kroll Show” among Men 18-34 (+12%) and Men 18-24 (+3%).  In addition the series premiere episode has been streamed nearly 250,000 times since it was made available via cc.com, CC On Demand and Hulu in the run-up to last night’s linear premiere.

The series premiere episode will encore tonight at 9:00 p.m., Thursday at midnight and Friday at 9:00 p.m., among additional plays (full schedule) and can be streamed in its entirety at www.cc.com.

COMEDY CENTRAL’S newest series, “Inside Amy Schumer,” provides an intimate look into the mind of comedian Amy Schumer, who, through a series of scripted vignettes, stand-up comedy, and man- on-the-street interviews, explores topics revolving around sex, relationships, and the general clusterf*ck that is life.  Joining Schumer for the first season of her breakout series are a roster of well-known actors and comedians including Jon Glaser, Michael Showalter, Amber Tamblyn, Michael Ian Black, Rob Schneider, Abby Elliott, Tig Notaro, Tom Papa, Lisa Lampanelli, Dave Attell, Will Janowitz, Nikki Glaser, Sara Schaefer and Missi Pyle.

Behind-the-scenes, “Inside Amy Schumer,” which was created by Schumer and Daniel Powell, who executive produce along with Jessi Klein, features an all-star team culled from the best of today’s comedy scene including a writers’ room led by Klein (head writer) and staffed by Tig Notaro, Kyle Dunnigan, Kurt Metzger, and Gabe Liedman.  The series is directed by Neal Brennan (“Chappelle’s Show”), Steven Tsuchida (“The Sarah Silverman Program”) and John Lee (“Delocated”) and features original music composed by Questlove.  Production services are provided by Jax Media, a New York based film and television production company, helmed by veteran producer Tony Hernandez.  Brooke Posch is the Executive in Charge of Production for COMEDY CENTRAL.

Coming off the successful premiere of “Inside Amy Schumer” and “Amy Schumer: Mostly Sex Stuff,” her recent one- hour stand- up special which became COMEDY CENTRAL’s second-highest rated special of 2012, Amy Schumer, with her blend of wholesome, girl-next door looks and edgy comedy, is quickly becoming one of the hottest stars in the world of comedy.  Schumer was one of the featured comedians on last year’s “COMEDY CENTRAL Roast of Roseanne,” which followed her breakout performance on the “COMEDY CENTRAL Roast of Charlie Sheen,” and has recently been seen on “Louie” and HBO’s “Girls.”  In 2011, she filmed the feature “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World” starring Steve Carell and Keira Knightley and “Price Check,” an independent feature opposite Parker Posey that premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.  Since February, Schumer has been on the road starring in “Inside Amy Schumer: The Live Tour,” a nationwide stand-up tour which will travel to more than 30 cities.

What is wrong wither her face? Did she have a stroke at some point of something?

  • Joltman

I’ve seen her before and always seemed to like her stuff, but the show was a disappointment. I had a couple chuckles, but most of it was just not funny.

  • gerry

    i think she is fantastic.

the show needs some tweaks, had some def ups and downs but i’ll be watching again next week.

you have to give Amy credit for keeping it real. This show headed straight for the gutter and stayed there. Amy’s definitely not your typical girl-next-door.
