Is 1.9 really that great for Grimm? I’m a huge fan of the show, don’t get me wrong, but I wouldn’t be jumping up and down over a 1.9 following a lead in that almost did a 3.9 Shedding over half your viewers and half your demo isn’t really that big of a success.

I always wonder what all those people who watch the voice watch at 10pm. Personally I think the voice seems to do a good job with their show. I like some of the auditions, but they drag it on too long. They need to get to the live shows faster. I like how they do the idol format better. They get to the live shows faster, there is more of them, and only one gets kicked off each week. You get to see more of the artists growth. On the voice how can you really mentor them all that much when you spend most of the show just getting to your finalists. Get to the finalists faster, spend more time with them. Once they get to the live shows boom the show is basically almost over.

Doubt Grimm will so as good next week when Body of Proof returns. Golden boy will probably do worse than this week!

There is no hope for the CW Network! Renew mediocre performances with a low credit rating. New shows? The Originals …. nothing new because it is a bad copy of TVD. In the CW have a few ideas.

    @John A
Im not a fan of Grimm. But nice to see it beat loser Revolution is all.

Seems like you aren’t a fan of logic as well. Revolution was against a competition of almost 4 in the demo (Castle+H50), while Grimm was against a competition of 3 in the demo. Revolution increases substantially in the ratings once the dvr numbers are added, while most of Grimm’s extra audience might just be those who used to dvr the show.

  • John

My point was, neither show did great. So, if Revolution is a loser, so is Grimm. Revolution might have gotten 1.84 to be rounded to 1.8, while Grimm might have garnered 1.86 to be rounded up to 1.9. So, don’t be a sore loser or whatever, John A.

Only if you ignore the programming that the other ~85% of viewers were watching at the time…

  • Voice

The Voice scoring a 4.0 average in the 18/49 demo for its KnockOut rounds this season, compared to a 4.7 it scored for last season…Damn that is a drop!! Werent people trash talking Christina Aguilera a few weeks ago when this show seemed unstopable n now…its lower than it was last season around this time?!

Last season aired during fall, when ratings are always higher than during spring. If you compare last spring’s ratings (season 2) to current ones, you can see that the show is indeed doing better than it was.

NBC tries to figure out which shows are more attractive to people. Next hitter is Chicago Fire. Put it right after the voice and see what happens.

  • Tim

I’m not surprised that “Grimm” fell that much in the second half hour. The airheads who were watching “The Voice” probably couldn’t follow the plot without Cliff Notes.

  • rgxx

    Gordan returns with a 2.0 !! :)

  • rgxx

    BAM ! – I callled it again…GRIMM 1.9

  • Patrick Ausgewahlt

America’s Funniest Home Videos beat Dancing with the Stars. (I only point this out because they have the same host)

Grimm – a 1.9 and less than 6 million viewers; how could anyone call those numbers great? Too many viewers allow their hearts to blind them to the truth – those numbers are just terrible! We have become a nation that accepts aubpar results and say, “well, at least it beat so and so” We need to be honest with ourselves and be disappointed with lousy numbers.

  • Tim

@Ron: We also need to be honest with ourselves and say that people who watch reality TV are morons.

  • Jenna

I see Grimm rising some more as the weeks go on, i don’t watch the show myself but it beated revolution pretty easily.

  • Jenna

Also i really think networks need to rework the way the whole rating game works, too many people watch there favorite shows online or by other means which doesn’t count towards ratings, if the networks can come up with a different model to gauge a shows success we’d see some very different results, an probably a lot less of our favorite shows getting cancelled.

  • Chris

For that to ever happen, the business model for network television would have to change. Right now, it’s all about advertising revenue, and for whatever reason, there just isn’t enough of that available for online viewers to make a difference.

To put it another way: the ratings game will change when networks and advertisers can no longer make lots of money by playing it. That day is coming, sure, but it’s still far away.

(And when it does finally happen, let’s be honest, most of these companies will crash and burn because they didn’t have any kind of plan for the future. It’s going to be ugly.)
