LOS ANGELES, May 1, 2013 – HBO has renewed the comedy series VEEP for a ten-episode third season, scheduled for 2014.

Created by Armando Iannucci (Oscar® nominee for co-writing “In the Loop”), the show stars Emmy®-winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Vice President of the United States Selina Meyer. The Emmy®-nominated show kicked off its ten-episode second season Sunday, April 14 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO, with other episodes debuting subsequent Sundays at the same time.

The ensemble cast of the show also includes Tony Hale as Gary, Vice President Meyer’s right-hand man; Anna Chlumsky as Amy, her chief of staff; Reid Scott as Dan, an ambitious political aide; Matt Walsh as Mike, Vice President Meyer’s weathered spokesperson; Timothy C. Simons as Jonah, an enterprising but annoying White House liaison; Sufe Bradshaw as Sue, Vice President Meyer’s executive assistant; and Kevin Dunn as Ben, the president’s chief of staff.

Among the early critical praise for the second season, the Washington Post called VEEP “wickedly delicious,” while the Baltimore Sun hailed the show’s “savvy satire.” The Wall Street Journal termed the show “exquisitely profane,” and Newsday said VEEP “is a winner.”

sweet, season 2 really stepped it up. reminds me of the slight changes they made to P&R after season 1.

  • JoshuaCanada

Awesome! Only HBO show I watch (but I will watch GOT over the summer). So I’m happy that it was renewed.

  • Remote Patrolled

A lot of shows are clever but not funny – i.e. Community, Happy Endings

    Veep is both!

  • bob

if this show is so good then how come ive never heard of it eh?

  • Simon Jester

Great news! I’m still chuckling over…

“So they want me to go to a pig roast to meet a bunch of men who probably took turns to **** the pig before they roasted it?”
“I wouldn’t presume they took turns.”

  • Oliver

Community was very funny (let’s ignore the current season, which is neither clever nor funny). Happy Endings is hilarious.

Meh on Veep. I don’t like The Thick of It very much either. Fairly weak ratings but I suspect it’s cheap to make and the network are struggling with comedies.

  • The End

There was a strong sense of positivity surround this show prior to it’s renewal from the cast/producers.

Figure that, after learning of that ages ago that they would get a third season. Honestly haven’t bothered to check, or care how well it rates in all honesty. Just knew it wouldn’t die this season.

  • Dan

I expected this today, this show will be around for a while along with Girls, Boardwalk, Game of Thrones etc.

  • Jimi

    “Oh, Ruby! I wish that . . . was . . . my cousin’s name.”

  • HotLatino4GayMarriage

    I LOVE VEEP & I love Julia!

  • Mon
