LOS ANGELES, May 1, 2013 – HBO has renewed the comedy series VEEP for a ten-episode third season, scheduled for 2014.

Created by Armando Iannucci (Oscar® nominee for co-writing “In the Loop”), the show stars Emmy®-winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Vice President of the United States Selina Meyer. The Emmy®-nominated show kicked off its ten-episode second season Sunday, April 14 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO, with other episodes debuting subsequent Sundays at the same time.

The ensemble cast of the show also includes Tony Hale as Gary, Vice President Meyer’s right-hand man; Anna Chlumsky as Amy, her chief of staff; Reid Scott as Dan, an ambitious political aide; Matt Walsh as Mike, Vice President Meyer’s weathered spokesperson; Timothy C. Simons as Jonah, an enterprising but annoying White House liaison; Sufe Bradshaw as Sue, Vice President Meyer’s executive assistant; and Kevin Dunn as Ben, the president’s chief of staff.

Among the early critical praise for the second season, the Washington Post called VEEP “wickedly delicious,” while the Baltimore Sun hailed the show’s “savvy satire.” The Wall Street Journal termed the show “exquisitely profane,” and Newsday said VEEP “is a winner.”

Great show is Veep, that’s for sure. Happy to hear it shall be back for a season 3. A quick decision by HBO to renew Veep and a very good one.

Hands down, the funniest comedy on the air right now. Too bad we only get around 10 episodes a year… But hey, no filler episodes! And I have no doubt season 3 will also be … robust. ;)

  • Fake Me Out

I hadn’t bothered with this but a friend insisted I give S01E01 a try and if I didn’t like it she’d stop bugging me … watched it last week and then quickly got the rest and watched them all over a couple days! Wonderful show, great characters, good writing … happy it’ll see at least one more season and I hope it takes the slow boat to 100 episodes. Conrats to the cast & crew on a fantastic comedy.

For Season 3 I hope POTUS buy Selina her a Cartier (sex toy).

How can I mix Veep and Flop? Fleep? Vlop? Idk, but I wanna do it before anyone else

  • James

Still not sure why anybody with 1/2 a brain would watch that show…

  • TimsDale4ever

Great show but this season doesn’t seem to be as funny as the first. For me, they’re cramming in too many storylines/situations in each episode and you feel like you’re trying to watch all the cars in a car race which you obviously can’t.

  • Elly

Best news EVERR. Greatest show, if you’re not watching it. WATCH IT NOW!

@James – “Still not sure why anybody with 1/2 a brain would watch that show…”

Well, no one with half a brain would. But people with full, functioning brains enjoy it quite a lot. I guess we know into which category you fall… ;)

  • Ian

This season is very funny, much funnier than last season and it deserved the renewal! Great job Veep!

  • Antonio

So happy, I freakin’ LOVE Veep!
