Absolutely cannot stand the new Kyle on Y&R. The other one was a good looking dude. This one…not! It’s gotten to the point that I get up and do some house cleaning whenever he comes on. Bad recast. Is he another FOJ? If so, she needs glasses. Over at GH, nobody can replace Julie Berman but I think Rylan is trying her best to fill some big shoes.

  • MM

Good to see Maury West on soaps again.
Casting someone like her must be contract role, I hope?
Lets hope GH uses properly!! Unlike Y&R!

  • MM

    Despite being frustrated with Days.
I love the new JJ, Jennifer’s son, he is HOT!!!
    Great casting!!
Did I mention, he is HOT!!!

I just read the tragic news that Jeanne Cooper has passed away. She was a stellar actress and her role on Y&R will be much missed. I hope they DON’T even think about using another. RIP. Coincidentally, my cousin just passed away the day before. Sad, so sad.

just read joanne cooper past on .sorry to here wonderful lady . the heart of young and the restless for many years love watching her amazing actress .my heart gos out to her family .I know how it is to lose a parent. may she rest in heaven and shine threw the light just like she did on y and r god bless her family she will be missed by many thank you for all the years of entertainment you gaves us fans.

  • MM

Just heard as well about Jeanne Cooper
They will not re-cast, that would be crazy!
This is terrible news, thankful she did live to be 84!!!

  • TimsDale4ever

I can’t express enough how wonderful the years were fo me watching Miss Cooper as Katherine. She and that classic foyer and living room set have been a staple for this show since almost the beginning. I didn’t care what story they gave her as it was pure pleasure watching her go through it. Yet another bad blow to this already floundering show…

  • Bex

Tim, you are pathetic, don’t you dare use Jeanne death to prove some point about Y&R. Show some frigging respect.

  • Mike

I was so sorry to hear about Jeanne’s passing. I loved her on Y&R. She was a great actress, and one of the best characters in soaps of all time.

  • PatF

One of the writers confirmed that her scene last Friday will be the last one aired.

I hope so…it was very fitting. If anyone hasn’t seen it, you need to check it out on CBS.com. Last Friday’s episode. Heartbreaking.

    We’ll miss you Jeanne!

    Re: JJ on “Days”

I thought that the actor playing the role of JJ – Casey Moss – looked familiar. He reminds me of Steven R. McQueen, who until recently played the role of Jeremy on “The Vampire Diaries”. In my opinion, Moss could easily pass for McQueen’s younger brother.

I remember reading a comment about Y&R having a large cast, but “Days” could also do away with some of their cast members with no ill effects. Other than the Magic Mike-esque storyline a few weeks ago, Chad hasn’t had any storyline since his adventures with Gabi ended. There are other characters that are rarely seen (such as Marlena, who was on quite a bit when Deidre Hall first returned) and are not being used to their full potential. In my opinion, if you can go more than two weeks without seeing a character, it is time to get rid of that character.

Hey David and MM..Days is solid, with good writing and compelling storylines now. Obviously, you both are not watching the show consistently. Kindly back off on your bashing of Days. It’s very good right now and the ratings are supporting that. Also, I agree that both OLTL and AMC are rebooting on-line in an amazing way. I didn’t watch either on ABC, but have been a consistent viewer on Hulu. I hope ATWT comes back through Prospect Park. I miss it tremendously.

R.I.P. Jeanne Cooper. You were one of a kind and will be missed.

  • jonboyelk

I was a young kid when I first saw Jeanne Cooper playing a villainess in The Big Valley and was mesmerized by her. Saw her in numerous guest spots throughout the years and she never disappointed. I can still recall her as the desperate, possessive stage mother in Brackens World and the pit boss in Kansas City Bomber. I only started watching Y&R when I heard she was coming on it and always enjoyed her, especially when sparring with Jill (although the Brenda Dickson years were the best). I know its silly to shed tears over a person I never met or knew, but….

  • PatF

In the 80’s both Jeanne and Brenda kept me coming back for more. I truly believe it was their feud that played for years that propelled the show to the top spot where it remains today.

  • TimsDale4ever

Jeanne was just the BEST! Her and the “Brenda” years were awesome, right along with the Foster family and the Brooks sisters. I missed the first year or so with her but seem to remember when she drove the car (and Phillip) over the cliff I believe in 1975; then she and Jill fighting over the late Phillip’s estate and her pregnancy, then crazy Suzanne “befriending” her and drugging Kay to steal “everything in her life”; Kay literally jumping off the cruise ship and missing for months; her epic on screen facelift; Jill and her fighting over teenage Phillip; and then when Marge showed up around 1989. Some of the best stuff ever to grace soapdom!

  • PatF

    Yes, Tim I agree.

  • jonboyelk

Wow, the glory days of Y&R. Too bad they can’t be rebroadcast somewhere. Nothing against Jess Walton, who certainly has her legion of fans, buy Brenda’s divaesque portrayal of Jill was much more fun to watch. I stopped watching for many years after she got canned.
