Almost Human

Fox has ordered four dramas to series for the 2013-14 season: Rake, Gang Related, Sleepy Hollow and Almost Human (from Fringe team of J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman).

Update: Fox has also picked up Dads from Seth MacFarlane along with four other comedies.

FOX picked up four new comedies – Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Surviving Jack, Enlisted & Us and Them.

That’s in addition to a 13-episode order for Dads and the animated Murder Police.

    Have fun fantasy schedulers! ;)

I think I’ll just wait for the second season of the original Real Humans, unless they significantly change the plot.

Sleepy Hollow might be interesting though. Haven’t seen the movie in way too long.

If it is anything like the Australian then the American Rake will be more like House if House got everything wrong.

Re Rake seeming like Victor, see above comment about Australian show completed 2 seasons.

Well, That’s too easy. One word: SATURDAY!;)

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Raising Hope moved to Fridays; the only question is which other comedy it would be paired with.

They have football on Saturdays during the fall! ;)

This is the year FOX takes the 10pm hour from the affiliates!

Oooh, That’s too mean for FANTASY schedulers! ;)

Would they move Glee to Fridays so early, though? Didn’t they just renew it for two seasons? That’s a long time to hang out on Friday night.

I definitely think Glee is moving to Fridays and maybe even Raising Hope and Mindy Project.

Whats more likely to happen? Fox expanding to the 10 PM slots or cutting back X Factor/ Idol to 1 hour on Wednesdays?

*shrug* Fringe was on Friday for a year and a half; same with Touch. Besides, what other options do they have? Premiere two new shows on Friday? Cut XFactor and AI to one hour on Wednesdays?

  • Holly

I’m sorry, that was a joke.

Oh, Sleepy Hollow? Sounds interesting, as long as it’s a serial with a story and doesn’t turn out to be a silly procedural like Grimm did (no offence Grimm fans).

I loved the movie. I wonder if this will be anything similar feel-wise or totally different.

  • Tommy Mickens

Ugh, nevermind. Just googled and read up on the new show and it *does* sound like a silly procedural a la Grimm set in a “modern day” Sleepy Hollow. Rolling my eyes. Well, one less show to worry about watching next season.

I agree with Dave’s schedule a little that Almost Human needs a prime timeslot to succeed. Giving it X-Factor as a lead is a wise idea. Thursdays are busy, but that seems like a logical place to put it.

  • Boris

Caps, cops and cops. I will pass on all of them.

  • Robert Seidman

@Holly: I’d be less surprised by giving up an hour of Idol/X than Glee being announced as a Friday show from the get go. Last time I looked Glee’s 18-34 ratings were on par with Idols (even though its 18-49 was lower) and it was doing noticeably better with women 18-34 than Idol.

I don’t even know how to make a FOX schedule. Unlike CBS though, FOX is always willing to move shows around and use scheduling gimmicks. I remember how before X-Factor, they used to always shuffle some combination of House, Bones, 24, Prison Break, Fringe, Dollhouse, TSCC around to different nights and times to make room for Idol.

Deadline suggested Sleepy Hollow might be a limited-run series with shorter 13 episode or so seasons like the Following while Rake might be midseason. It’s also possible that Glee either moves to Friday or perhaps even returns as a midseason show. I just have no idea what FOX is planning.

Almost Human sounds like Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E. from Friends. Definitely still the one I’m most interested in. Rake and Gang Related sound boring, but I will at least check out the promos.
