Almost Human

Fox has ordered four dramas to series for the 2013-14 season: Rake, Gang Related, Sleepy Hollow and Almost Human (from Fringe team of J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman).

Update: Fox has also picked up Dads from Seth MacFarlane along with four other comedies.

I think Fox ordered so many shows in case X Factor / Idol crashes.

I think that if they were willing to put Touch on Fridays this year, they are willing to premiere a new show there next year, I don’t see that big of a difference (I actually think a new show will have a better shot than Touch had).

    I could see something like:

    Monday
    8h Bones
    9h Rake/The Followig

    Tuesday
    8h Sleepy Hollow
    9h New Girl
    9h30 New Comedy

    Wednesday
    8h The X-Factor/ American Idol
    9h Gang Related/ American Idol

    Thursday
    8h The X-Factor/ American Idol
    9h Glee/ New Comedy/Glee
    9h30 Glee/ New Comedy/ Glee

    Friday
    8h Raising Hope
    8h30 The Mindy Project
    9h Almost Human
[This Friday is very incompatible, but I can't think of anything else]

This way, all 4 new dramas and all the returning shows are on the schedule (minus Kitchen Nightmares, although it could presumably take over Cops on Saturdays). I also have 3 new comedies on the schedule (even though the two Thursday ones would get short orders, but they could launch out of the early airings of AI, which are its highest rated airings). Dads could probably be included on Sundays somehow. The 5th new comedy can either get the Goodwin Games treatment or it can be launched on the 9h30 slot on Wednesdays post Idol come midseason.

Regardless of how we look at it, I think it is paramount that Fox sends Raising Hope and Mindy to Fridays, they are just dead weight on a weekday and the real estate suddenly turned very valuable!

Everyone stop saying Bones final season, it’ll still go on till ratings start to fall like House did also Hugh Laurie was also a reason for might ending… Bones will be on for probably 10-12 seasons, this year’s ratings were better than last years… Also, wasn’t Rake preview last year? I swore I saw its trailor preview same with S.H.I.E.L.D.

    8.00: Bones
    9.00: Gang Related/The Following (mid-season)

    8.00: Raising Hope
    8.30: The Mindy Project/Surviving Jack (mid-season)
    9.00: New Girl
    9.30: Us & Them/Brooklyn Nine-Nine (mid-season)

    Wednesday
    8.00: X-Factor/American Idol (mid-season)

    Thursday
    8.00: X-Factor/American Idol (mid-season)
    9.00: Almost Human/Sleepy Hollow (mid-season)

    Friday
    8.00: Kitchen Nightmares

Here’s my stab at a schedule. I don’t know a lot about the new shows so I’m doing this more as “how will schedule all of this” than anything else.

Mon – Bones, Gang Related/The Following
Tues – Us & Them, Surviving Jack, New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine
    Wed – X-Factor/AI
    Thurs – X-Factor/AI, Sleepy Hallow/Almost Human
Fri – Raising Hope, The Mindy Project, Glee
    Sun – Animation Domination

I see them holding 2 comedies for midseason replacements, Enlisted, and Dad. Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares can be used to replace any DOA new dramas, and if FOX strikes gold and doesn’t have anything DOA they can air them over the winter break.

Again, I’m not so familiar with the new shows so some may switch places, but I can see them doing something like this with their schedule.

Sleepy Hollow, Rake, Dads and Brooklin look great! Meybe Almost Human.

  • tony

    Delirium :(

  • Tommy M.

Looking at my “schedule” it looks like I forgot to include Rake, so that leaves them with 1 drama as a midseason replacement as well.

  • Sarah

With 4 new dramas, I have a feeling Bones is moving to Friday. :(

  • Tommy M.

@ Sarah, I don’t really have an issue with Bones moving to Fridays, but I don’t see them launching 2 new dramas on Mondays. The Following wont be back until midseason, so I think it’s more likely that Glee moves to Fridays paired with 2 comedies, or X-Factor and AI get cut down to an hour at some point. AI is down sharply this year, but it still win’s the night for FOX so I think they will avoid shrinking it if at all possible.

  • Holly

    @Tommy M.,

Another option is moving Glee back to Tuesday and having comedies and a new hour-long on Friday…

  • Tommy M.

@ Holly, I agree. I just think that Glee’s 2 season renewal and it’s syndication deal help cushion softer ratings on Fridays. The same could be said for Bones since it too has a syndication deal, but it’s ratings are slightly stronger than Glee’s without a massive lead-in. A new show on Fridays wouldn’t surprise me at all, but from an economic view I think a veteran show with a syndication deal makes more sense.

  • Brad

    @Colin,

Bones ratings have already fallen. It’s get a 2.0 or less most weeks. This is it’s final Season if any of these new shows are “hits”.

  • Wright

Any show done by the Fringe team should be good. Also, happy Sleepy Hollow got picked up.

  • Freddy Arrow

People keep mentioning Delirium, so I thought I’d look it up. Holy crap does it sound terrible. Maybe the books are good, but it sure doesn’t sound to me like it would have made a good TV show.

    From Deadline:

    DELIRIUM
STUDIO: 20th Century Fox TV/Chernin Entertainment
TEAM: Karyn Usher (w, ep), Peter Chernin (ep), Katherine Pope (ep), Paula Mazur (ep)
LOGLINE: The series is set in a world where love is deemed illegal and is able to be eradicated with a special procedure. With 95 days to go until her scheduled treatment, Lena Holoway does the unthinkable: she falls in love. Based on Lauren Oliver’s book trilogy.
CAST: Emma Roberts, Billy Campbell, Gregg Sulkin, Corey Reynolds, Daren Kagasoff, Jeanine Mason, Michael Michele, Brenda Koo, Erin Cahill, Melinda McGraw

FOX plans to open the 10PM slot ?

  • Tommy M.

    @ TheFrenchGuy,

“FOX plans to open the 10PM slot ?”

That’s only some commenter speculation/sarcasm. It’s very unlikely that will happen as the local affiliates aren’t going to willingly give up the 10PM hour.

  • Ultima

    @TheFrenchGuy
FOX plans to open the 10PM slot ?

No. Although they run sports until 11pm on Saturday a lot.

Part of me wanted to argue that they’d want to keep Glee off Friday so it wouldn’t fall below cancellation levels after only one year, but then I remembered the ratings they’ve been willing to endure for Fringe, Dollhouse, and Touch…and the argument seemed to lose its bite
