In a statement to E! News he confirmed the long-rumored news:

"Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season," he says. "I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It's been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures."

RANDY WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. THE OTHER JUDGES ARE THE PROBLEM. THE RAPPORT BETWEEN JLO AND STEVEN TYLER MADE MILLIONS TUNE IN TO WATCH AMERICAN IDOL. TYLER’S “STREET PERSONALITY” ALONE PROMOTED THE SHOW. HE WAS INVALUABLE TO AI’S BOTTOM LINE – TV CAMERAS FOLLOWED HIM EVERYWHERE – HE WAS ‘HOT’. I’VE SWITCHED TO “THE VOICE”.

THANK GOD! I really felt like punching him in the face whenever he said his stupid line “[blah blah] is in it to win it”. Even though Keith Urban turned out to be a witty and competent judge, I would really love the rumor to be true that all four judges aren’t going to return. Mariah was just like Steven Tyler – didn’t have much to say. Nicki is kinda fun but not big enough of a star to sit in the judging panel.

A new judging panel of three would be perfect. The panel needs someone acid, someone nice and someone in between, but all of them still have to be critical and MOST IMPORTANTLY three judges that DO NOT give a standing ovation each time a contestant finished their performaces.
