UPDATE (4) And Now it's officially official (for real)! Marvel's Agents of SHIELD has been picked up. See the first cast photo above.

Marvel spin-off Agents of SHIELD has been reportedly picked up by ABC.

Update (3): Looks like the video linked to by Gregg has been pulled down. Make of this what you will.

Update (2): Star Clark Gregg has tweeted out a link to a supposed teaser for the show, featuring The Hulk. All bets are off as to its authenticity, but we'll let you decide for yourself.

Update: Official word has not come down yet but a full series pickup is expected tomorrow, according to Entertainment Weekly

The first promo for it is reported to air during the Once Upon A Time finale, according to a tweet from SitcomsOnline:

Do you guys think they would air Shield out of OUAT and move Revenge to 10PM? I mean, they haven’t had real success at 10PM in a while, so maybe they should put something there that already has an audience?

  • Bumblebee

Least surprising pick up of the season.

  • Holly

FOX MAY BRING BACK 24 AS A LIMITED SERIES!

No… this must be what going mad feels like.

  • Californiadgd

will be beast at Thursdays at 8!!!

  • forg

I think ABC should place this on Tuesday

  • Bitter Ringer Fan

Not a shocker but why do you keep putting the picture of this guy?

    *****spoiler******
I mean i know most people have seen the avengers but just in case, his character was killed so i don’t get how is he gonna be on the show.

  • Dan

Very smart by ABC, my guess is that it will air Thursdays at 8.

  • Kyle

    YES! This show sounds promising.

    CAN’T WAIT!

  • Dan

For those wondering who that guy is, Clark Gregg played Agent Coulson in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Avengers I think Thor and Captain America and he will continue the role in the new series.

I think this show will help ABC a lot.

  • Stella

    @Bitter Ringer Fan

that’ll be explained in this series, how he survived.
He is in this show :P

The pilot predates the events of The Avengers. It’s been known that he was going to be in it basically from the start.

  • Ricky

@Cass: Good to know. Actually, great to know!

@Ringer Fan: Coulson is supposed to be in the show, so clearly Whedon et al. have come up with some convoluted expospeaky explanation for how he’s alive.

  • Ultima

Or maybe Billy Crystal worked some magic on him because his character was only mostly dead.

  • SJ

Pfft… with Joss Whedon’s track record, I’m skeptical.

Also, not everything that was a hit on another medium is guaranteed success on TV, at least not as a 22-episode-a-year-series. NBC just passed on Hatfields and McCoys and The CW passed on their Hunger Games-based project two years in a row.

I get why this had to be on ABC, but out of the four major networks, it is also the one where something like this is most likely to fail.

  • Cass

    @Ultima

It does? Haha, well, I suppose that makes the most sense. Otherwise it’d make no sense for the show to never reference or cameo the entirely-too-expensive cast of the Avengers or encounter threats that up the ante on full-out alien invasion.

  • iMember

Apparently, ABC hasn’t officially picked it up….YET

  • Ricky

@Ultima: I believe the show is supposed to take place after The Avengers, not before. Thus the convoluted expospeaky explanation we’re all waiting to hear in the pilot next fall.

  • dexterfan

i hope that the tenth season of grey’s will be the last one. also, i’m really excited about shield. probably the only show i’ll watch on broadcast tv this year. it could do well tuesdays at 9pm.

  • Brian

Glad to hear this! This show and Tomorrow People will be the shows to see next year. Also, OUAT will be the perfect lead-in for this show :)

It may be that as well. They’ve played it pretty close to the vest so far.
