@Sony – USA WILL pick it up. The network has already expressed interest and E Online & TV Line reports that Sony is gonna “Fight Like Hell” to get the show renewed. Keep in mind this company got Til Death to 81 episodes, Rules of Engagement to 100 episodes, Community soon to 97 episodes, a second season for Breaking In and Unforgettable as well as a fifth season of Drop Dead Diva. I cant post the link but google Eonline Happy Endings cancelled.

We all knew ABC was gonna cancel Happy Endings after “WE” failed so save it, but the next step is USA to pick it up for a few more 13-15 episode seasons to get the show into syndication.

Not surprised HTLWYP was cancelled. After a short season, it couldn’t succeed away from Wednesday – like, people didn’t get used to this show existing. It could only go Apartment 23 way, and ABC does not need another story like that one.

The Neighbors might not be strong, but after so many midseason shows, I feel like it lasts few seasons already. And I guess so do many people, especially those who have been watching the show – they had enough time to get engaged to it and maybe follow it to another night.

I meant @Forg, to my previous comment

I am sure Happy Ending will be renewed by USA, don’t worry fans.

  • Dan

@Hubert R – I think it was a combination of the fact that FOX owned it and ABC had too many bubble comedies that they needed to clear there decks, thus the only comedies renewed were ones that were expected to be, mostly Wednesday comedies from the beginning of the season and Last Man Standing. Hopefully next season ABC can manage there comedies better, the fact that ABC’s tuesday block fell apart made FT and HTLWYP premiere late and by that time ABC already had pilots in consideration.

I can say that cancelled Happy Endings will probably get picked up by USA.

I can also say that The Middle, Modern Family, Suburgatory, and Last Man Standing will return for 2014-2015. The Middle & Modern Family will get sixth seasons because those two are comedy staples for ABC and Suburgatory & Last Man Standing will get fourth seasons for syndication purposes.

    This is not Ah-Ma-Zing!

Maybe I’m wrong but isn’t The Goldbergs a multi-cam ? If so it would pair perfectly after LMS on Fridays. It’ll be interesting to see if ABC expands their comedies to 2 hrs on Fridays. If so Shark Tank will likely move to Thur at 8pm. ABC & the other networks for that matter have more pilots picked up than the fall schedule can accommodate. I guess no 1 wants to get caught flat footed with no new shows waiting to replace early bombs.

  • Ted Craig

On the plus side for Reba McEntire, she can now move to one of two hugely popular shows on Fox.

I can’t believe HTLWYP is cancelled already! It’s only 5-6 episodes in and it is a VERY funny show. I expected it to get a 2nd chance(much like The Neighbors).. :(

no, How To Live NO! =/

Didn’t watch any of these but surprised they gave How to Live the boot so quickly after just a few episodes that seemed to be doing well and Family Tools is no surprise because it tanked right out of the gate.

I have that i’m suprised at the cancellation of How to live… I really thought it had a chance.

  • Ben

I guess it came down to The Neighbors or How to Live with Your Parents. I like them both but I was hoping for HTLWYP.

    You go, ABC.

keep your Wednesday block a revolving door of failed comedies…

How to Mess With Your Comedy Block (For the Rest of its Useful Life)

    only on ABC!

I guess this means they will be premiering two new comedies on Wednesdays (at 8:30 and 9:30)? It would be the right thing to do. Suburgatory can get a November premiere on Friday, in case one of them gets cancelled. The Neighbors gets shipped off to Friday no matter what, though I think it was a mistake to cancel Malibu Country in favor of The Neighbors.

Here’s how I would do it:

    WEDNESDAY [September premieres]

    8pm: The Middle
    8:30pm: Mixology
    9pm: Modern Family
    9:30pm: Trophy Wife

8pm: Last Man Standing [September premiere]
    8:30pm: The Neighbors [September premiere]
    9pm: Suburgatory [November Premiere]
9:30pm: Back in the Game [November Premiere]

Hopefully, they’ll invest in those comedies, instead of rushing them off to make room for comedies who are so in late the season that only a miracle would save them.

  • Greg

*late IN the season, I meant

Also, it’s worth noting that obviously I have no idea which comedies are more suitable to each timeslot. For all I know, Trophy Wife could be a satirical comedy that fits with Suburgatory’s sense of humor or Back in the Game could be about a blue collar family like The Middle.

I watch 2 shows on ABC – Malibu Country and Body of Proof…..oh well, I guess I will switch back to the cable shows.

  • Jim

Happy Ends I’m happy it ended. It really sucked!Goodbye Good riddance!

  • donnie

finally there is absolutely no reason to watch abc and no reason for abc to continue……. rest in peace abc
