    @Cassie

    But there’s no direct correlation between the two shows. Body of Proof aired on ABC and The Carrie Diaries airs on The CW – two completely different networks.

  • Jan

    I can’t believe you are cancelling ‘Body of Proof’. I love this show and Dana Delaney is by far one of the best. Along w/Castle I always make sure I’m able to watch both of these ‘top dog’shows. Both shows offer fine acting and spunky supporting and main actors.
    When you have a good show why take it off the air. I could name a few shows that need to be cancelled, but for right now I’m begging you to keep Body on primetime.

  • bob

    hope hannibal get axed

  • Desertberry

    What about Major Crimes-coming back, I hope.

  • Angie

    “Of the 34 new shows (not including Hannibal) 24 of them, or 71%, were canceled. Only 10 were renewed.”

    This is exactly why I hate to watch new shows. Why waste my time getting involved. There are so many shows that show potential and are not given a chance to succeed! The biggest one that comes to mind is OFF THE MAP! (so many more!)

    Of course just because it made it to a second or third season doesn’t mean you’ll get your “ending”. Shows like HEROES and Ghost Whisperer come to mind here.

    They want to know why their new shows get no viewers? This is why!! Why couldn’t they make a few shows that are fast paced and highly intoxicating but only run 1-2 seasons with a conclusion! We don’t need 5+ seasons to tell a story (even though we might want that many a real conclusion and ending is what we want more. CLOSURE!).

    Plus… Cancel all the dumb reality shows. People who watch those scripted “reality” crap need to get a life!

    @Angie
    There are so many shows that show potential and are not given a chance to succeed!

    What defines a chance to succeed? Most scripts do not go to pilot, most pilots do not get picked up and most first season shows are canceled.

    If failed shows stay on the air longer, then the networks would need fewer shows and therefore fewer pilots and fewer scripts. Those shows that you think never got a chance because they were canceled might not have even made it on the air at all. Seems more like they were given a chance, but failed.

    They want to know why their new shows get no viewers? This is why!

    Nonsense. The networks have been using this same model for decades and had no problem creating new shows that could draw 30+ million viewers in the past. Viewership is down because of audience fragmentation – it’s harder to draw viewers when they have a hundred choices instead of ten.

    Why couldn’t they make a few shows that are fast paced and highly intoxicating but only run 1-2 seasons with a conclusion!

    For the most part, scripted shows on the broadcast networks cost more to produce than they are able to generate in advertising revenue. They make their profits by selling shows into strip syndication on local affiliates and cable networks (who want large numbers of episodes, usually 88 to 100 at a minimum).

    Cancel all the dumb reality shows.

    That’s the other way networks make money. Unscripted programming is much cheaper than scripted programming and doesn’t need to rely on syndication sales to be profitable.

    People who watch those scripted “reality” crap need to get a life!

    Maybe you should stop posting on internet boards about a subject you clearly know very little about and “get a life.” :roll:

  • Judge Judy s117e13

    The fact that Hannibal was renewed is ****ing criminal!

    Back in my day, trash like this would have been canned before the end of the first episode.

    Off with its head!!!

  • Funeral Dinner

    what about Betty White’s Off Their Rockers? renewed or cancelled?

  • a p garcia

    Last Resort was just “too good” to continue on network TV!

  • Josh

    @Judge Judy s117e13

    Its hard to take that name seriously!

    Young man, your objection, if it WAS an objection, is overruled!

    I’m with Angie here with bigger DVR’s I rarely watch a new show until after the season I don’t want to invest my time is a show that is going to have the rug pulled without an ending.

    Ultima…maybe you should learn some manners and be a little nicer to fellow posters

    If only you boobs on this board cared and analyzed your government as much as you did for this mind-numbing medium. Cheers boobs!

  • bb

    I really loved Whitney! That sucks! 2BG & LMS are the only 2 shows left 2 watch! There were a few more I wayed that got canceled as well but losing Whitney hurt worse. Really upset by this. Great job, NBC. t(-_-t) Great job!

  • CBSviewer

    What’s new ?

  • Josh

    @Judge Judy s117e13

    Haha

  • Ron

    They may as well move The Mentalist to Netflix or Amazon. I never know when it’s going to start on Sunday night and neither does my DVR. :(

  • Norine Martin

    Why cancel smash??? It was fabulous!

  • tmak

    I really liked the red widow, they needed to play it one more season to get people really interested in it. It was just starting to get really good. I think it should be a HBO kind of show so that it could go in more detailed without the restrictions of a network.
