Rules of Engagement has been Canceled by CBS after seven seasons

  • Scandalous

Wow. Not really surprising but I still expect CBS to create a 2-hour comedy block on Thursdays.

No surprise. CBS doesnt need a comedy for midseason.

  • Lotucan

No surprise here. I was kind of expecting it!

  • Glue

Whoa, Shocker. I feel bad for the fans that stuck with it for a long time.

  • Androme

    Goodbye, old friend.

  • DW

it had a good run. it will last on netflix reruns for a few years. i enjoyed it on a comfort food type sitcom level.

  • Jonay

    Wow CBS

outside of elementary , why would CBS need to change thursdays?. its one of their best nights.

  • Survivor Fan

I am a big fan, but it sounds that this season finale will be a good series finale. They planned it as such all along.

Also, my favorite bubble comedies are being murdered!

RIP, Whitney, Go On, and Rules of Engagement!

One episode left to air… it was a good run but it was also getting a bit long in the tooth.

one of the best comedies ive ever seen, cant say i didnt expect this but im still very upset about it.
at least it gets an ending with jeff and audrey having their baby, adam and jen getting married and timmy finally telling russell where to shove it.

though i really am upset because i feel it could have really gotten better next year with so many changes, would have really freshened it up.

    sad day.

I’ll miss it but we all know the writing was on the wall with this.

Not a surprise with them picking up 4 new comedies.

I have only watched a few episodes, but Rules always delivered when CBS needed it. Its rating have been good since the first season. However, when CBS decided to use it as a midseason this year, it ratings took a tumble.

I like this show, and I plan on watching the entire show in the summer.

I know it’s reached syndication. But It does pull an average of a 2.0 and if TBs or USA picked it up it could be pulling 1.5+. Which is good for cable …

  • Anna Bones Clarkwood

With all the new comedies it was going to be regulated to 2nd Comedy spackle, if expanded Comedy hour occurs. If no new comedy hour, then there just isn’t any room.

    So, this is expected.

Not to mention, they are using a TBBT repeat for finale week of HIMYM&2BG & pushing the last episode to the next week with syndication reasonings (recently) Mike & Molly.

I liked the show a lot. However, the raunchiness, esp of the “casanova”, got old. So did the fiance’s dumbness. It felt more like an embarrassment to keep watching it. But hey. I only started from s1, this spring to catch up, never watching an episode b4, so I didn’t spend time on forums or years hoping for it’s renewal etc.

I wonder if any of their pilots, that they were cast in, got/will get picked up?

After picking up four new comedies, this isn’t too surprising. Then again, I’m upset it was cancelled – I really enjoyed that show.

  • KJ Styles

I knew this was gonna be cancelled when David Spade was publicly saying that he was ready for it to end. Not to mention that a few of the other cast members were already working on other projects.

It was a good show, but I’m not sad to see it go. It was time.
