The Cancellation Bear went 15-2 on his ABC predictions over the course of the 2012-13 season. (vs. 21-1 in the 2011-12 season)

The bear missed on the predicted renewals of How To Live With Your Parents and Body Of Proof. BOP is the only show the bear's missed his prediction on two years in a row on opposite sides of the ledger. At least he's guaranteed to not go three in a row!

With that the cancellation bear bids the 2012-13 season adieu and begins his summer hibernation. The bear and his Renew/Cancel Index posts will return in September. Happy Summer!

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, the "old" Fall predictions will carry over.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Body of Proof is a GREAT show. ABC keeps Last Man Standing only .2 points higher and is in it’s first Season. Body if Proof was starting to gain traction about 4-5 episodes into Season 3 and they needed time to introduce the new characters. Man this sucks

  • Josh

Theres only 3 shows I watch on ABC. Greys Anatomy, Nashville and Modern Family. Don’t care for any other show.

However I see rookie blue has been on for about 3 years so I might start watching the first few episodes of season 1 and see if I like it

  • Bunny

Mark Valley is a great actor. Team him up and he will do good.

  • SuperDave

BOP was better than average, with room to get even better. Sorry to see it go…maybe someone else will pick it up!

  • bj sue

Save Body of Proof. One of the best shows you have. Sick of reality shows.
    Bring it back.

  • David Carruthers

BODY OF PROOF – Love this intelligent medical/crime drama and its characters, as does my wife. PLEASE don’t cancel it!!!

  • Marti

I loved Body of Proof…Please revive!!!

  • Cece

I am late I know, but I just saw this list and let me just say how sad I am. Body of proof, How to live with your parents, the B in apt 23 and Red widow….gone!!! C’mon!!! Not to mention Malibu county….LOVED THAT SHOW!!!! But you kept Once Upon a Time…..seriously!!! Dont get me wrong its ok…..but how much longer can you keep up that show??? These other shows had much more promise and longevity in my opinion. I am hoping they get picked up by another network…..TBS perhaps…….
    So sad right now!

  • BIBI

Body of proof was an awesome show why did you cancel it. Save body of proof

  • Navy Pride

I can NOT believe Last Resort was cancelled. It was a fantastic series that was extremely believable, probably why it was cancelled, to much heat for the politicians that dictate our country currently.

  • AndyWuvSuburgatory

Im so happy suburgatory and once upon a time got renewed!!!! I feel sorry for Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, How to Live with Your Parents For the Rest of Your Life, and Red widow. I loved them!!! :( i don’st see how HTLWYP got cancelled with a 1.12 rating. Shocking :o

  • Bunny

    More science fiction shows please.

  • Anthony

One the commentors made a very valid point regarding new shows. The networks need to air at least 8-9 new episodes before going to any breaks because people won’t remember what happened when the show returns or won’t care when it does because they were never given time to invest in caring about the characters or the story

I’m glad that Revenge, Scandal, Once Upon A Time, and Grey’s Anatomy have all been renewed. I’m a little disappointed in Happy Endings though. It seemed like a decent enough show. Comedy was decent but overall story had no direction. I’m relieved that the Neighbors made it. I was worried that it wasn’t going to. Very funny show. How To Live With Your Parents seemed like it was doing well, I wasn’t very dedicated to it though, just felt… like they were trying TOO hard. I could barely get through 2 episodes before I decided to delete it off my DVR. Body of Proof ending is probably the biggest shock to me. I wasn’t very into it, but I thought it was doing well. A lot of my friends seemed really into the show. I was actually looking forward to 666 Park Ave but I guess I missed it all. I didn’t even catch an episode. Oh well, c’est la vie.

  • Sanjody69

@AndyWuvSuburgatory I’m surpised that How to Live with your Parents for the Rest of Your Life got cancelled with that kind of rating also.
