The Cancellation Bear went 14-0 on his Fox predictions for the 2012-13 season. (vs. 18-0-1 in the 2011-12 season)

It was the second year in a row the bear hadn't missed a prediction for a Fox show.

With that the cancellation bear bids the 2012-13 season adieu and begins his summer hibernation. The bear and his Renew/Cancel Index posts will return in September. Happy Summer!

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, I will keep the "old"  Fall predictions in the table.

Want to know what the Fox Renew/Cancel Index table looked like at the end of the Fall season? Click here.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Ben & Kate never should have been cancelled. It was too intelligent and hilarious for the many mouthbreathers in our great nation.

  • Jermal

    @Erudite

Ben & Kate wouldn’t have been canceled if people actually watched it and liked it enough so that it performs around or above the network average in ratings. That goes for all shows that have been canceled.

  • The End

Can’t say I’ve ever heard of Ben & Kate before, nor do I know anything at all about it, or who’s in the show. Infact it’s the only show on the Fox list above that I know nothing at all about.

Sorry that some people are upset that it was cancelled, but fact of the matter is, if no one watches a show, it’s gone.

  • pete5125

nobody watched ben and kate, that is true, but Fox did advertise it, it was the sitcom after raising hope on tue nights, most of last season…it was an acquired taste about an idiot man nanny

Sorry Touch got cancelled I really liked the show, but glad to see that Keifer and 24 will return for one more season. Thank you

One thing that you have to factor in with the Seth MacFarlane shows (Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show), is that they all have a special syndication deal with Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.

Adult Swim is allowed to air these shows only two weeks, or so, after they were originally aired on Fox. I am sure that Cartoon Network had to pay much more for this than the standard deal for syndication.

This may be the reason why some of these shows have survived with low ratings in the past (especially the Cleveland Show’s renewal last year with horrible ratings), although it couldn’t avoid getting eaten by the bear this year…

  • jonny vee

cleveland kinda sucked… hopefully he will reappear in family guy now

  • laura

how did the cleavland show get cancel when I think bob burger should of went that is a stuiped show.

  • mathew

Bobs burgers is amazing! i am worried about it next year though seeing as its now the lowest watched animation domination show. I watched all of fox animated shows except american dad. I just hate that show

  • Timothy

Bob’s Burgers is a million times better than the Cleveland Show ever was. The Cleveland Show should have been canceled years ago (dumbest show on television).

  • Poopydu

    NOO MY CLEVELAND SHOW

  • richter

Why do they cancel all the good shows. Cancelling Cleveland show is just stupid. They need to cancel that crap Bob’s burgers worst show on Sundays. It’s not even good

  • richter

American dad is great @ Timothy. Bob’s burgers is turrible

  • purple cheetah

    Please Bob’s burgers is hilarious!

  • Bunny

Got bored real fast with The Following. Love Bones. More Science Fiction shows please.
