    @John:
    “I can totally see what you mean, but believe me, the really good stuff will be in season 4, that’s where the book gets really really exciting!!!”

    Am I the only one that sees a problem with this statement? Season two was slow, but this season is even more painfully plodding. As someone said earlier, it should be re-titled “Game of Walking” because that really is all that the characters in this series do. Walk from place to place, bitch about what they don’t have and try to come up with new and intriguing ways of getting it (that never seem to work). By the logic in your statement, John, viewers are supposed to forgive a sub-par season just because we might get something better NEXT season? Are you not in the least bit worried that one bad season (as it appears this one most certainly is shaping up to be) just might jeopardize viewership for season four? If the show doesn’t pick up and keep viewers entertained, some will leave. Disappoint them enough, and they’ll not return. If GOT was truly an “epic” series as the fans keep saying it is, there would be perhaps one or two episodes per season that could be considered “slow”. An “epic” series never has an entire slow season. An “epic” show most definitely would not drop the ball and then hope they can pick it up later–and hope viewers remain to see if they can do it.

    If the season stays slow and the ratings do continue to dip (and Mother’s Day wasn’t the cause) then there is no one or nothing to blame but poor story telling. Any series as large as GOT should do its best to keep things going at a nice clip so there is no chance of viewers becoming bored. Especially when there is as much material to cover as there is with this series.

    @Cyndi:
    I definitely agree with you regarding Martin’s books. He really has lost control of his story. It has spiraled so far out of control that I cannot see him having an ending that even remotely doesn’t feel rushed or just plain pathetic at this point. I stopped reading midway through book four and have zero interest in picking the novels up again because they are an absolute mess.

    There are some story lines in this season that I am finding sort of interesting and some that I am not. I am wanting to enjoy Dany’s bit this season but the CGI with the dragons has been so lackluster that it has only succeeded to pull me out of the storyline. Season three has been a real disappointment to me thus far. I surely hope it does get better or I might be one of those viewers who loses interest before that big season four payoff rolls around.

    WHAT HAPPENED TO GAME OF THRONES! I HAD A VERY IMPORTANT WAGER GOING FOR THAT SHOW! HOW COULD IT DROP A HALF POINT IN A WEEK!!!

    I’m really shocked Orphan Black was so low in viewers last Saturday …

  • Andrew

    @CyndiByndi76
    “and PD as Tyrion is just shockingly bad”

    Well, you just lost all credibility with that statement. Peter Dinklage has won NUMEROUS awards as well as AN EMMY for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister and is the main reason why a huge amount of people find him to be their favorite character. As far as the writing, you must be trolling because the writing has had led to the fruition of one of the most witty, subtle, and sophisticated dialogue that has EVER graced our television sets. Come on, “a sword swallower through and through” you’re telling me you didn’t laugh even a little at how that line was delivered by Lady Olenna??? Or what about Littlefingers “Chaos is a ladder” speech??? I could write a whole essay on the meaning and its significance. I could give many other examples as well as to why the writing is one of the best we’ve ever seen.

    @JenniferJuniper

    So what I’m gathering is that you would rather see everybody stay in one place and that every episode should be like episode 9 of season 2 (Battle of Blackwater)??? You do realize this is NOT a movie so it does not have a movie’s budget and with all the different simultaneous plotlines in different geographical locations they have to shoot from, those alone use a HUGE chunk of their budget. Also, I have no idea what you are talking about, the dragons have been EFFING awesome!! Lackluster CGI?? They almost look like they could be REAL!!

    You two must HATE Quentin Tarantino movies which, btw, he just won a couple Oscars for his latest movie in case you didn’t know. Please, I would advise you both to heat up some popcorn and sit down and watch just Michael Bay movies from now on. Pointless action and explosions with no real plot development, no real character development, and no relevant dialogue but at least you won’t get bored and your mind will be distracted. Oh look!! it went boom boom!!! Oh look at that one!!! It went boom boom too!!! So pwetty!!!

    Anyways, I think I made my point. Sorry if I offended you but it had to be said. Thank you but now I must bid you adieu!!!

  • Andrew

    @Nick

    Do you have the ratings for Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown Sunday night at 9PM on CNN?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Andrew

    ^I meant for the previous few weeks since it started four weeks ago. Thanks for posting the one for this Sunday.

  • James S

    GOT is meant to have a story lead and as such is meant to be slow. Most HBO shows are the same and its what makes them GREAT shows. Those who simply want mindless action go watch wrestling. Seriously!

  • AO

    Slow can be great.
    Slow can be okay.
    Slow can be terrible.

    It depends on the writing, acting, directing, etc.

    Some people can’t handle a slow show and that’s their loss.
    But some people assume that anyone who finds fault with a slow show can’t or doesn’t think and that’s as bad. People attributing a single simple answer in regards to everyone who disagrees with them are…not employing very complex logic.

  • The Cannibal

    Do you people who think that GoT is slow also find Breaking Bad, Mad Men,m Twin Peaks and Hannibal slow? Because if you do, it’s not the show that has a problem, it’s you. I imagine if Kubrick’s “2001: Space Odyssey” or Tarkovsky “Solyaris” would be released now you couldn’t watch it more than 5 minutes. This generation definitely has some kind of ADHD epidemy.

  • Steve

    Thanks to those who filled me in on the Thrones books vs series info…

    Truly bummed about Orphan Black’s numbers from Saturday. It was their weakest episode of the season so far, but why the immediate drop since the previous few episodes were just excellent? Glad it’s gotten a second season order already, but BBCA has to do SOMETHING more to promote this show. It blows away almost everything else on right now.

  • CyndiBindi76

    @Steve

    BBCA won’t do anything more than they’re doing already. They hardly do any promotion for anything other than Dr. Who. They make a big fuss about their shows when they premiere and then nothing. Nothing to keep people tuning in beyond that. It makes zero sense.

  • juke

    someone tell me what BREAK is? a show, a mini series, I thought Veep came on after.

  • Andrew

    @juke

    Break is the few minutes between shows on HBO used to promo their shows, events, and movies since they don’t have commercials. Whoever reports these numbers to TVBTN should really omit the HBO and Showtime breaks because they are meaningless and that would free up a couple of spots for whatever barely missed the top 100 (Parts Unknown on CNN?).

  • Paul

    Maybe it’s because George Martin wrote the latest episode?
    Did he think he was writing a book than a 1 hour show?

    I’m still enjoying this season though and looking forward to the last 3 episodes.
