TV Ratings Monday: 'How I Met Your Mother' & 'Castle' Rise, + 'The Voice' & 'Revolution' Down

NBC was number one with adults 18-49, while ABC won with total viewers.

 

On NBC, The Voice notched a 3.6, down half a ratings point from last week's 4.1 adults 18-49 rating. Revolution notched a 1.9, down a tenth from last week's 2.0 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS, How I Met Your Mother garnered a 3.4, up  eight tenths after last week's season low 2.6 adults 18-49 rating. 2 Broke Girls notched a 2.9, up two tenths from last week's 2.7 among adults 18-49. Mike & Molly notched a 2.4, up a tenth from last week's 2.3 adults 18-49 rating. Hawaii Five-0 earned a  1.8, down a tenth from last week's 1.9 adults 18-49 rating.

On ABC, Dancing with the Stars matched last week's series low-tying 2.0 adults 18-49 rating. Castle earned a 2.2, up two tenths from last week's 2.0 adults 18-49 rating.

On FOX, a two-hour  Hell's Kitchen earned a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating, down two tenths from last Tuesday's 1.9 adults 18-49 rating.

On The CW, a two hour 90210 was even with last week's 0.3 adults 18-49 rating.

Late Night Ratings:

In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday night:
  • In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.8/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.4/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.1/6.
  • In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 Wednesday results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.6/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.
  • From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET Wednesday night, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
  • From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).
  • At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    LOL! They’re doing it to themselves. Right now they are throwing in some random soapy things that don’t fit. This is not a network problem. The show is doing it to themselves. It doesn’t sound like they had enough material for 20 episodes, I don’t know how they will make it next year. There’s no one to root for or care for. Strange show. I will continue watching but I don’t know about next year.

    Not surprised about The Voice being down. They have managed to eliminate a lot of great contestants before the live shows and now are stuck with a mediocre group of singers. No one I really care about is left and Blake’s all country team is just meh. Too bad, it season started out so great.

    Castle is the Monday 10 pm winner.
    I am a Revolution fan but it deserved to be moved.
    H50 is a flop for CBS , the most expensive pilots in years for these terrible numbers. I am not surprised CBS didn’t go with the Beverly Hills Cop reboot, they have learned a big lesson with the h50 reboot, these remakes never work, no matter how much money they put in them,

    ABC schedule is out!!

    SHIELD is placed on Tuesday at 8. Castle continues on Mondays at 10. OUAT, Grey’s, Scandal, Modern Family all continue on the same days and time.
    OUAT in Wonderland occupies the dreaded Thursday 8pm slot.

    @Stop the Flop – last year’s HIMYM finale was hour long, first half hour scored 3.6 (it didn’t have to compete with the Voice, it was AGT premiere already. AGT as far as I remember, it actually got better ratings than last night’s episode of The Voice).

    when did HIMYM get so big? they never used to be but i dont know anyone who watches that trash, 2BG and M&M were great last night! also caught The Bates Motel

    Sept-Novemer and March-May seasons or one long season.

    Can’t have it both ways.
