CBS has confirmed today that the pilot for the NCIS spinoff (NCIS: Red, as it was most recently known) has officially been passed on.

    Are CBS on crack? o.O

  • Craig

I’m actually glad for that. When I watched the episodes I really didn’t like it. If they did another spinoff then setting it in a Navy hospital or on a ship could be interesting.

  • JC

I didnt see the episodes but I as on the fence about it. CSI spun off a bunch of shows and Law & Order did as well. No real reason NCIS cant.

  • rich

good. too much of a good thing and all that. besides, the one episode that was shown a few weeks ago was a real yawner.

  • Stella

Kinda sucks but on the other hand, Nina explained that it was more important to protect the franchise and i’m happy she did.

  • Jaysun

This isn’t NEW news! It was not on their list at the annoucement of their fall schedule; so we already knew it DOA. ARgh! Irritating!

  • Samunto

    The 2 Parter was awful!

    Poor Kim Raver.

  • Melanie

Good. Didn’t like it. Wouldn’t mind seeing the John Corbett character again, but other than that – nah.

  • Freddy Arrow

This show is probably a couple years too late. The NCIS franchise is starting to show some chinks in its armor, so diluting it more at this point seems like a bad idea. CSI and Law and Order were in stronger positions when their 3rd spinoffs happened.

In a way its kinds good news. NCIS:LA was kinds “IFFY” for me and I liked NCIS:Red even less, the only thing I liked was Kim Raver.

  • lll

That’s what happens when the whole cast is in the wrong roles. They don’t mesh. Casting is very important and this 2 parter on NCIS:LA just looks stupid now.

  • Wright

Good. I can’t stand Kim Raver. I didn’t like her on 24 and I still don’t like her. I hope she doesn’t go back to Revolution now.

  • RMH

I’m a fan of most of CBS’s dramas, and I thought the idea was ridiculous to begin with.

  • HalCapone

Finally! A good sense decision from the old folks network. Spin-offs start to dilute the entire brand. The cop thing is so moldy. Maybe there is hope for CBS, yet.

  • Craig

    @Freddy Arrow

It’d be the 4th spinoff since NCIS is a spinoff of JAG.

  • DSC

I’m actually glad for this, because too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, but I’m surprised they didn’t even give it the college try. it’s their signature show, after all, you’d think one season would be a no brainer, even after the criminal minds spin off fiasco.

  • JJF

This is a surprising decision that I actually agree with. CBS needs to stop mindless franchising out.

  • MichaelChickless

I don’t have anything against Kim Raver, but I really didn’t like the casting of the whole Red crew.

  • r0ckmypants

@Jaysun – Relax, sir. Just because it wasn’t an early pick-up didn’t mean it was dead. It could have easily been ordered off-cycle, and the most recent reports stated that it was still in contention.
