This TV season is all but over now, but next season will be here before you know it.  Here's a look at how each night stacks up based on the fall schedules announced this week.

Grids for all the nights are at the bottom of this post. In the past we've broken them up into separate posts for each day of the week. As we get closer to the fall season, we'' probably do just that. But it's all-in-one post for now.

Even More New Shows Than Last Year

Last year there were 20 new shows debuting in the early fall -- that count excludes "Fox Sports Saturday" and also excludes "Malibu Country" which didn't debut until later in the fall. This year there are more than 25% more new shows for a total of 26 -- that count excludes "Almost Human" and "Enlisted" which won't debut until later in the fall.

What Catches Ratings Watchers Eyes?

There will be no shortage of things to capture a ratings watcher's attention . How will CBS's expanded Thursday comedy block and new Monday comedies fare? How well will The Voice age? What happens to Person Of Interest on a new night and later time with a smaller lead in? Revolution at 8pm? How bad is it going to be for Beauty And The Beast on a new day with Hart Of Dixie as its lead-in?

But at least at the start of the season I can't imagine anything will capture more attention, even with ratings watchers, than the launch of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.  Maybe I just lack imagination.  Those watching the NBA Finals on ABC in June can get back to me after they've seen the Agents of SHIELD promo for the 10,000th time.

    @Petar Ivanov

    Even if CBS comedies “bomb” their ratings could still be higher than NBC’s. Sadly NBC’s top rated sure renewal comedy Parks averaged a tiny 1.6 last season. For CBS Rules was averaging in the mid 2s and got cancelled.

    Realistically I think CBS will still win most of the night in comedies.

    8:00pm TBBT 5.0
    8:00pm Parks 1.5
    8:30pm MILLERS 3.0
    8:30pm WTTF 1.5
    9:00pm CRAZY 2.0 (low for CBS…)
    9:00pm SHSTW 2.0 (that’s probably too generous)
    9:30pm TAAHM 2.5 (without TBBT lead in I think this show will lose a lot of steam)
    9:30pm MJFS 2.5 (if they promote the crap out of it maybe higher)

    The only slots I see as toss ups are 9 and 9:30 and that all depends on the quality of the shows and the promotion NBC decides to put in. But I still see CBS winning even those time slots honestly.

    Here’s a good question, How fast will Mike & Molly and Suburgatory be summoned to the schedule when one of ABC & CBS’s 4 comedies inevitably fails? Same for NBC. WIll Community be placed on the schedule if Family Guide or Sean Saves the World fails or will NBC let those shows ride out until December?

  • Networkman

    @Dan, I feel CBS will be less patient. It is really unusual for this network to premiere 4 new comedies. Their dramas are aging. Out of all the networks, as a collective whole, there dramas are the oldest. CSI is 14 years, NCIS 11 years, Criminal Minds 9 years old, ect. If a new comedy flops and brings down the night as Partners did last year, CBS will not hesitate to put reliable Mike & Molly in the lineup. There were times this past season that Mike & Molly garnered more viewers than the rest of the Monday sitcoms even though it skewed older. But besides Mom, I don’t see the new crop of comedies appealing to the younger desired demo.

    These are my predictions….

    Monday- NBC will win the night because of the Voice, but CBS will be competitive with it’s comedies.

    Tuesday- I see CBS winning a close battle, with NBC and ABC finishing second and third. NCIS vs Shield will be a great matchup. I think POI will win it for CBS though, as it will kill Chicago Fire and Lucky 7.

    Wednesday- This could be ABC’s night depending on two factors, how well Super Fun Night does, and whether or now X Factor and American Idol continue declining. If the freefall continues then I predict an ABC victory. If not, then FOX will win. CBS will also be competitive. I get the feeling that Back In The Game will be cancelled and replaced by Suburgatory by November sweeps. Revolution will do well in the fall, but then fall off in the spring. I don’t think it’ll be cancelled, but it won’t be strong enough for NBC not to finish last on Wednesdays.

    Thursday- CBS will win, but hopefully OUAT in Wonderland doesn’t get cancelled like everything else that ABC has scheduled vs The Big Bang Theory the last several years. If it can average in the low to mid 2′s, it will survive though and ABC will finish second.

    Friday- This is the toughest night to predict. NBC could win this night if Dracula and Crossbones are successful. ABC won this night last year, but I think The Neighbors will tank on Fridays. It’s ratings will be worse than Malibu Country’s were. CBS will get a boost from H50. Shark Tank vs H50 vs Grimm will be a highly competitive battle, with probably a different winner every week. I’ll go out on a limb and go with CBS. Undercover Boss will likely beat Dateline and LMS/Neighbors most weeks. But ABC and NBC have a legit shot.

    Sunday- Same as last year. NBC wins the fall because of football. And AMC kills all network TV with the Walking Dead.

    dammit!
    brooklyn nine nine will be against agents of shield. people will watch agents of shield regardless of whether its good or not simply because its tied to the avengers.(even though i can already guarantee that itll be completely different to the avengers)

    brooklyn nine nine looks like its easily one of the best shows debuting next year.

  • Networkman

    Regarding NBC, I can see them placing Community back in the 8pm timeslot against Big Bang at midseason and putting Parks & Rec back to 8:30pm once Welcome to the Family fails. NBC is not going to want to place Community behind The Voice. So if Sean or Micheal’s sitcoms begin to suffer in the ratings, I wouldn’t be surprised to see one of them switched over to Tuesday in the Spring with About a Boy or The Family Guide being scarificed and switched over to Thursday.

  • KJ Styles

    Brooklyn Nine Nine is probably the best comedy pilot of the season. Sadly, it will get destroyed by NCIS and Shield and fall into the “brilliant but cancelled” catagory along with other great one season shows like My So Called Life, Freaks & Geeks, Last Resort, Keen Eddie, etc.

  • Petar Ivanov

    @Networkman
    As far as the quality of new shows are concerned, I feel FOX has picked up some real winners. Almost Human, Sleepy Hollow and Gang Related all look great and should be appealing to young viewers.

    I agree with you. Best new shows are on FOX in my opinion too! Think they will add a lot of young males(more) and femalse(less) to their network.

    One word for FOX new shows – BEST!!!

    Brooklyn nine nine – best trailer in my opinion. (most funny and quality. Best sitcom. Best lead male. Hope for best writing. Only if was on other slot PLEAAAAAAAAAASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE FOX Great cast like all.

    Almost human – best cast( Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, Lili Taylor – beyond amazing and quality. Hope for best script)

    Sleepy hollow will be best entertaiment and best adventure. Think this will premiere like revolution 4.0+. May be second after hield. Cast is litle uknown but if writers are good will be fine. chemisrty is very important here.

    Gang related – best chances to be stable for most seasons. May be won’t premiere that huge like AH or SH on FOX but will be stable like POI this season fall #s 2.9 every episode. (may be not 2.9 bit you get the point)

    And i even forgot about Murder Police. Only dads looks like litle disappointment for now. But dads teal is so good and deserve a chance.

    If i was FOX will move BNN at 9 and dads at 9 30. NG and lower rated Mindy at 8 and 8 30. and YES BNN should be anchor not dads.

    abc hunting for younger viewers too. AoS is insane young cast.(can be plus and minus long run) And will get the most youngs and teens. With best premiere no doubt.

    nbc blacklist will premire huge too. and looks great.

    In general hope this will be best season with most entertaining, QUALITY and successful shows from years why not even decade or more!!!

  • josh2770

    sorry but i still think S.H.I.E.L.D will not beat NCIS because top 3 CBS Drama’s in one night ;)

  • josh2770

    Do you not agree petar!

  • bryan

    This fall is going to really be interesting to watch. I think CBS might be in the biggest trouble, while NBC could actually do better. FOX will be iffy too, but ABC actually might be the most stable.

    CBS moving Person of Interest is a big mistake IMO. Wasn’t it doing pretty good this year? Beating Grey’s a couple times too? Why on earth move it? At the very least, they should have put it at 10pm on Thursday and moved Elementary to Sunday. (BTW, I don’t watch POI or Elementary so I have no bias in this statement.)

    I know everyone is already singing the praises for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but it really could go either way. The first episode will likely be high, but if they don’t do some really, really great stuff in that episode – I think a big chunk of the audience will walk away with no worries. Agent Coulson is very likable, so if he isn’t seen as the big star and used well, I think that will determine the show’s fate.

    NBC’s new comedies on Thursday seem risky but I do think this could work for them. They all look pretty good and the MJF show is the best of the bunch. Moving Parenthood here was a good idea too. It could easily tie/beat Elementary (both will be far behind Scandal though).

    Going night by night: Monday is NBC thanks to Voice, Tuesday is CBS thanks to NCIS, Wednesday could be FOX or ABC, Thursday will likely be a close race with CBS and ABC, Friday is tough because it’s usually low for all but CBS could pull it off thanks to H50. Saturday who cares and Sunday is duh… NBC.

    My two cents.

  • Petar Ivanov

    @Chris J

    I agree with you. But if CBS lose thursday to abc or fox will be disaster for them. With big footbal games all can lose a lot.

    ps USA start this fall MF&NCIS LA syndicatin reruns. Not know for LA but expect MF to take real boost next season. TBBT get great boost from syndication.

    ps2 its shocking how bad will be sundays again for cbs. Friday look better. ST vs Grimm VS H5O is big battle.

    For me biggest uknowns are SSTW and TMJF show. they should premire after the voice. And the voice before x factor….again.

  • Leoben Conoy

    I think LMS and The Neighbors perform pretty decently together with this competition on Friday nights.

    They pair up really well together I think.

  • stevenD

    Monday-Sleepy Hollow, The Blacklist, Hostages

    Tuesday- Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, Mindy Project, POI, Chicago Fire

    Wednesday- Revolution, SVU

    Thursday- I’ll be watching/trying all the comedies but Two and a Half Men. Parks and Rec and Michael J Fox live, not sure about others.

    Friday- Grimm, Raising Hope, Dracula

    Sunday- Bobs Burgers, American Dad, Family Guy

  • Petar Ivanov

    @josh2770

    Nope. I did not agree. Premiere of shield will beat everything and will be best premiere from years if not decade. Now how will be after premire i don’t now but at least begining of the season first 7-8 episodes shield will beat ncis with good margin. Lock for taking the fall in my opinion. That is why i don’t want male and hot BNN there.

  • KJ Styles

    As for what I’ll be watching…

    Monday- How I Met Your Mother and 2 Broke Girls for sure although I’ll probably end up DVR’ing them whenever Monday Night Football has a good game on just like I did last year. I’ll check out We Are Men, Mom, and Blacklist but will only stick to them if I really like them.

    Tuesday- CBS’s entire lineup (The NCIS twins and POI). I’ll DVR Agents Of Shield.

    Wednesdays- Modern Family for sure. Super Fun Night looks hilarious, I don’t understand the hate for it on this site. That trailer had me laughing hysterically. Will definitely give it a chance. I hope Suburgatory replaces Back In The Game though. I don’t hate BITG, but I LOVE Suburgatory and I don’t want it on Fridays.

    Thursday- Big Bang Theory for sure, and I’ll DVR OUAT in Wonderland. I’ll give Crazy Ones a chance because I love Robin Williams.

    Friday- I’m kinda intrigued by Dracula. I’ll watch the first episode on Demand to see if I like it. Otherwise nothing.

    Sundays- Sunday Night Football and Once Upon A Time are the only shows I watch on this night. I’ll DVR the latter if the SNF game is good.

  • josh2770

    @petar ivanov

    very true but what rating and amount of viewer’s will the POI season premere get?

  • KJ Styles

    Shield will NOT beat NCIS. I could see it winning premiere week and a few times thereafter but NCIS will beat it at least 3/4′s of the time if not more.

  • josh2770

    in your opinion

  • Petar Ivanov

    @josh2770

    really no idea. New slot, new day no idea.

    @KJ Styles
    Well, we will see. Revolution premiere with 4.1 this season and after that was able to hold 3.0+ 5 episodes in a row. So if shield premiere 5+ or 6+ must be BIG crap(and i really really doubt that) to callapse after 2 episodes. That is why i said that will be lock for fall winner and first 7-8 episodes. abc already promoted it. As most dramas script and acting are the most important things.
