The Tomorrow People:
I do find it funny that now the CW is rid of “girly teeny soaps” almost that the complaint is “they lack originality!” It was just a year or two ago that the out cry was “more genre shows!” Guess you can’t please everyone. Personally though, I’m excited for this season.
Is there an actual trailer for the Hundred? The preview clip did nothing for me, nor did it explain what the show was about. It’s just a bunch of pretty people that see the outside world for the first time.
The Tomorrow People seems to the most promising, but it also reminds me a lot of The Secret Circle which did start off well and ultimately crashed and burned. However with it’s timeslot, I can see it appealing to both Arrow and Revolution fans, so it might be in the best possible timeslot. TSC failed me due to it’s focus on relationship drama, so if TTP focuses on the superpowers I think it’ll do just fine. Plus it’s great to see the Amell family own Wednesdays on the CW – it could be the CW’s next Smallville/SPN combo if done right.
Reign looks decent, but it won’t succeed in its current timeslot/pairing. It gives off more of a 90210/HOD/GG vibe and would probably work better paired with HOD. BATB and Star-Crossed also seem like better companions.
Moving TCD to Fridays to pair with ANTM was a smart decision. It also allows them to put some of their more light-hearted shows there.
The Orignals/SPN is the most surprising to me. I would have left The Originals paired with TVD (possibly swapping them around if they want The Originals to eventually replace TVD) so that Thursdays wouldn’t be a problem for them.
Nikita is very likely going to either be midseason spackle or summer spackle. I imagine they’ll bump BATB to Fridays after the midseason if TCD is only 13 episodes, move Star-Crossed to be paired after HOD and bump Reign midseason for The Hundred.
TCD is going to have a limited run for all possible future seasons. I suppose that’s good for its renewal chances, they can keep it as spackle for Emily Owens situations.
Going to review the trailers for only the new FALL shows.
The Tomorrow People: B (SFX look good, story looks meh, will check out though)
Reign: C- (Looks pretty dumb and cheesy to me. It’s different for CW though)
The originals: D (It’s a TVD spin off, I can’t stand TVD)
And again this year, CW doesn’t really intrest me. All I’ll watch this fall is Arrow and I’ll check out Tomorrow people.
No. Just… no.
Nah. Kinda lame.
The 100: A
This looks cool, if a smidge cheesy. But a smidge can work! Can’t wait.
The Originals: D
I have absolutely zero interest in a Vamp Diaries spinoff.
The Tomorrow People: B
I was expecting more from this. It could be good, I’ll have to wait and see.
BTW, forgive me (& possibly my phone), but what show is align=”middle” /> ??
Beauty and the Beast has 22 episodes while Carrie Diaries has 13. I expect Carrie to be done after 13 while BATB will probably stick around for a couple of more seasons.
I will watch tomorrow people for sure.
I guess I will give Reign a chance since it’s after TVD and the 100 too, depending on where it lands on the schedule.
Didn’t like the others, I wouldn’t be caught dead watching Originals or the alien show.
Just wondering, is the originals worth watching if I don’t watch the vampire diaries? Would I or anyone else interested be able to understand the storyline to it without having to watch VD?
@Dan Doubtful. BATB will drop now that it’s lost it’s TVD lead-in, plus further drops throughout the year, it’ll probably gain Nikita’s season 3 numbers (ie not good). If The Hundred does well then they won’t need BATB nor TCD for another season.
The 100: B+
It looked good from the short clip we had.
It has potential, the clip was good, but it’s plot is a bit silly.
The Tomorrow People: B-
The effects are great, the plot is interesting, and it could be great.
A good idea done horribly. The clip was terrible, I was looking forward to this but it doesn’t look good at all.
The Originals: F
No, please no. When I used to watch TVD Klaus was always my favorite character. He was boring and took the spotlight away from the main characters, and the main show has never recovered due to Julie’s infatuation with this character, which is one of the reasons why I quit watching TVD. This is going to be a hot mess, mark my words. Only the hardcore fans will watch, which makes a very small fraction of TVD’s audience. I expect it to go as low as 0.4.
Klaus was my *least favorite character, definitely not me favorite.
1. I want to like Reign, hope it’s good.
2. Not sure about Star Crossed; it’s no fun if everyone knows your an alien. It was like an old news special from the past when black people where first brought into the all white schools.
3. Right from the start, I don’t like the dark haired girl; hopefully the blonde is the lead.
4. Not sure about The Originals; how are they going to drag out for an entire season Klaus not just killing that dude and taking over (he is immortal after all)? I watched the premier and I kept waiting for Klaus to just kill him and be done with it. I don’t see how the girl being prego makes a difference; it might keep him there but that’s about it.
5. The Tomorrow People should be good; hope I’m not dissapointed. I also like it has Lucifer from SPN (bad with real names) in it.
I actually think Star-crossed has some potential, reading the full description and watching this clips, It’s actually an allegory for racism/segregation here in the US. The 9 alien students(were there only 7 in the scene?) represent the Little Rock Nine, the first black students attending a White public High school. There were protesters and students taunting and spewing hate while the National Guard was on site to protect the students, very similar to this scene actually.
If done right this show could actually work.
All a bunch of Crap..the CW needs to get some adult actors and not a bunch of 20 yr old’s with stringy hair trying to look like they can act! Horrible bunch of Garbage!
Well I know what my Wednesday schedule will be this fall (Rev, SVU, Tomorrow People).
The only two I’m inclined to watch are Tomorrow People and Star Crossed (along with Carrie Diaries and Nikita). I didn’t even bother to watch the rest.
Also I hope Star Crossed continues to film in New Orleans, maybe I can get a Fall semester internship on the show.
I’ve been wondering the same thing. I’d say the only way to know is to watch it.
Star-Crossed looks better than I thought it would and I hope it doesn’t turn into a goofy Twilight type of love story.
I thought Reign could be hit or miss. It’s good that CW is trying something different by doing a period piece but there’s something about the style of CW shows that don’t work with certain concepts and I think this might be the case with this show. From the trailer it looks like OUAT with teens. Now I know it’s the CW and their shows are with teens and young adults which is fine but I was hopeful for more of a Supernatural grittiness to it rather than a 15th century 90210.
With the 100 all I could think of was, couldn’t they put out a better trailer for the show? There have been some good trailers for other networks the past couple days but CW’s have been the worst. With the 100 trailer I could’ve thought that instead of it being a post apocalyptic drama, it could also pass as a cheesy summer camp slasher flick. COME ON CW!!
The Tomorrow People looks flashy but it also looks like an updated reboot of that horrible X-men ripoff Mutant-X.
Hopefully I’ll be able to catch these pilots at Comicon to have a better opinion of these shows but right now these trailers have been lackluster compared to some of the other networks have put out.
The only one that seems mildly intriguing is Reign.
Regardless of what any thinks of the pilots ,,
Anyone else impressed at how Mark Pellegrino keeps getting work , and has been on fire since he was part of Dexter in 2006
