What a great finale American Idol is airing right now….the ratings may be down but the contestants are top notch.

  • The End

My only complaint about the Arrow finale was that Tommys death was stupid. It was pointless and didn’t serve much purpose beyond giving Oliver and Laurel a chance to be together. A better outcome would be Tommy picking up the remnants of his Dads company and going in a new direction.

    Way to go, SYTYCD!!!

    @Azzman

Comedies are different than dramas. There are fewer slots where dramas can go. How to live isn’t competing with dancing with the stars or Nashville for a slot. It’s competing with their other comedies and middle and modern family are vets which will always have a hand on other comedies and they had a strong development year in comedies. Ask CBS, they’ve cancelled multiple comedies that were stronger than many of their dramas, but when they need a slot for new comedies, some comedies will get the ax.

And I can’t believe we didn’t get a poll about the series finale of The Office. And the seaso finales of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, yet OUAT gets a poll every week. What’s up with that?

    My guesses:
    The Big Bang Theory 5.4
    TBBT rerun 3.2
    Elementary 2.0

    American Idol 3.5

    Wipeout 1.3
    Grey’s Anatomy 4.1
    Scandal 4.2

    The Office Retrospective 1.7
    The Office Series Finale 2.3
    Hannibal 1.2

A lot of these are very optimistic, but they are opinions.

    On other news, (NO SPOILERS)

Grey’s Anatomy finale: SOLID. in my opinion better than last years finale. Should’ve hyped up the cliffhanger at the end more. DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!
Scandal finale: INSANE. EXCELLENT. HEART POUNDING. SATISFYING. JAW DROPPING. SUCH AN ISANE CLIFFHANGER.

And Scandal seasons 2 and 1 are numbers 3 and 4 respectively on iTunes TV seasons top charts. That’s pretty insane. This show is going to be marathoned crazy throughout the summer and will come back HUGE in the fall! MARK MY WORDS.

    EDIT FIRST POST:

There are fewer slots where COMEDIES can go.

@yet OUAT gets a poll every week. What’s up with that?

Popularity. As in what draws the hits to the website.

    @The End

Completely understand that especially on Sundays when TV news are usually slow, but for a show that is having a series finale (I don’t even watch the office) and two shows that are having their season finales (2 of the biggest dramas on television and 1 that has been hitting series highs constantly and is the highest rated 10 pm show on broadcast) don’t deserve polls?

I’m just watching SPN’s season finale.
    so far so good.

I am still wondering how they are going to tie up all the arcs from this season.

Definatly keeping me glued to my tablet as I watch it.

this season defiinatly was all over the place, but it sure got good after citzen fang aired.

I definatly did not like benny or Amielia. Glad they wrote those characters off.

I think SPN must be one of the only shows that seems to keep an eye on how the season is going and looks for the reaction its getting, and then they seem to write the end of the season depending 0on the repsonse it gets early in the season.

Season 8 definatly got off to a strange start, but it really got better as the season went on.

I am looking forward to seeing season 9 and beyond.

I wonder how it will do on tuesday nights ?

I sure hope that Amanda Tapping sticks around..then again I have not finshed the last episode yet !

I knew the show would end up doing better than Arrow by the end of the season and sure eneough it did better the last 2 weeks !

People wondering why the CSI finale was down? That was one of the worst finales for CSI!!!

Black Sabbath was great, the Brass storyline too, but then there was Morgan, in the spotlight, in the FINALE!!! I mean, I like Morgan and Elisabeth Harnois but Morgan is NOT more important than Sara, Nick and Greg!

Seriously, when these new kids on the block over CSI PTB think it’s more important to have Ecklie in the finale than Sara things are not right. You read that right, a series regular, an original cast member and CSI was not in the finale.

When an important CSI board has like 10 comments about the finale is because it sucked. When changes in the writers room are rumored is because something is wrong!

So a 2.0 is actually good because it should have been lower. Next premiere will be about Morgan again but then I hope they make changes and focus more on Sara, Nick, Greg, Brass and Doc Robbins. Morgan is a fine character, but not season finale spotlight material.

When something happens with Nick (Grave Danger) people care; when something happens with Sara (Living Doll) people care; when something happens with Warrick (For Gedda) people care; when something happens with Morgan (Skin in the Game) who gives a damn? Why not give the spotlight in the finale to Greg? Looking forward to (good) changes, asap!!!

    Ehm… FLORROW. Right?

Kind of glad they decided to move SPN away from Wedensday nights, now I am a fan of the show but these Arrow vs Supernatural comments were starting to get annoying.

Wow, even after cancellation HTLWYP(FTROYL) still pulls a 2. And it beat established comedy The Middle. It was definitely the surprise cancellation of the season in my opinion. TBS should pick up HTLWYP and pair it with Cougar Town. ABC should never premiere comedies again in April because no matter what they put, it won’t get higher than low 2s (which isn’t that bad) and it will ultimately fail. April or early May is the absolute worst time to premiere a new show (except for maybe December) because people are so saturated with watching other shows that are already in progress. At least in June TV viewers schedules empty out giving them a chance to follow a new show.

Speaking of Family Tools, I’m surprised it didn’t drop any further and stabilized at 1.2, still beating many episodes of Happy Endings, Apt 23 (RIP), and 1600 Penn. I suspect ABC will air the remaining episodes at 8:30 since Modern Family and The Middle will be going into repeats in their respective time slots anyway.

I can see the ABC comedy Wednesday block benifit from syndication next year and beyond.

Supernatrual, Castle, NCIS, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, did.

The Middle and Modern Family seem likely to do so as well after four solid seasons standing on their own.

Re: How to Live With Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life)

Question is, why premiere a show this late, and not be satisfied with solid 2.0s?

What where they expecting premiering a brand new show that late in the Spring of the TV season, surrounded by repeats for a large chunck of its airings?

    Good finale for Arrow.
GREAT finale for Supernatural – capped of a much improved season 8 (after slightly lack luster season 7). The last 5 minutes with the fall, just beautiful, can’t wait for season 9 :)

  • Barbie

Actually, I’d bet Chicago Fire had such high ratings this week because last week’s episode was insanely good! It ended with a major storyline and it made people want to watch. I think it’s that simple :)

I’m so happy it’s getting the ratings it deserves. This season the only shows I’ve actually fallen in love with have been CF and Elementary! I’m so happy they’re staying around.

SPN was great but I am tired of it getting moved on the CW’s schedule. It hasnt been the death of the show but the CW is tempting fate. I seem to be in the minority but this move worries me. Yes, I know it has held its own on Tuesdays before but still. I am happy it got at least a 1 in the demo but seeing as how it’s hit that mark already this season I was hoping for at least a 1.1 Nothing against Stephen on Arrow but I think it would have done a bit better had Justin Hartley been able to reprise the roll. All the same good luck to both shows next season.

damn you all with the spoilers!!! gah!

  • shouichie

When I saw Arrow got 0.9 (2.7 mill), I thought “oh no..what about SPN?”. Then it hit 1.0 by 2.3 mill

    OH YEAAAA
