@Mae Yes, both SPN and Arrow got more views than TVD but you have to remember this viewers are only based on American viewers. TVD has an amazing international audience thus trending on twitter most of the time and there are many other methods to watch TVD besides this ratings have based on.So, I have to disagree with you TVD is still a powerhouse.

I bet a lot of people got tricked into watching the Big Bang Theory repeat at 8:30 thinking it was a new episode. That line they put in at the end was clever, “special episode” of course doesn’t mean new episode.

  • benUK

happy VD is up but sad about viewers

Can someone explain how Hannibal went UP after the adjustment? I would have thought The Office carryover would have boosted its ratings in the preliminaries.

FOX is still somewhat strong without XF/IDOL. New Girl, Bones, Raising Hope,The Following, Hells Kitchen are all good performers. I think one reason why FOX has so many new shows is because their hoping somthing will stick and be a hit (like the Following was this year) in case IDOL (more so XF) gets cancelled after next season…

Charlie, no one pays aid dollars based on twitter.

    ad not aid …

And TVD barely manages to hold on to its #1 spot on the CW. I don’t think it’ll ever break 1.2 again, those days are long past.

  • halloween

@Pepper it got a 1.3 less than 2 months ago

So is next seasons move o Tuesdays going to be the first time it has ran on thursdays, plus how do shows mormally do when they switch from another night of the week to Tuesdays ?

I like how they are breaking up SPN and Arrow for 2 reasons…
first off I cant seem to get into Arrow, so I never watch it.

So maybe pairing SPN with another show will be good so maybe I’ll actualy watch the nettwork all night Tuesday night !

I’m so glad my favorite show is going to get 10 seasons or possibly more…

I do think that even with the showrunner being changed thast they are running out of new material.

Silence of the Lambs would easily feature somewhere in the top 20 if I were to make a list of my favorite films of all time, but I just can’t get into the Hannibal show at all.

Based on ratings, seems like I’m not the only one.

Happy that the Office had a good send off. I gave up on it a while ago, but I’ll always be fond of the cast.

Flopementary or flopmentery or eleflopery or what?

Well done to TBBT and The Office and GA in getting 3.0 and above (also to AI as well).

Congratulations to Scandal on that 3.2 – it has been a very impressive 2nd season and I think ABC are probably licking their lips with thoughts of the future ! May even watch it one day…

2.0 for Elementary might be slightly disappointing to CBS, but had quite a lot of competition on the night and should be fairly steady next year.

I hate Grey’s and Supernatural fans. Can’t wait for both shows to collapse so these losers can go off to bed and cry and leave us alone!

When folks talk about Hannibal being a joint international production, is that in any way analogous to The Firm on NBC last year. …

I honestly don’t know the answer.

Pretty much. Swap out Entertainment One for Gaumont. While Hannibal is made in Canada there is no Canadian production company or/and broadcaster involved with making it like Shaw was with The Firm. Gaumont is a French company with a wholly owned subsidiary in LA. In the US of course they will play it up as an NBC show. NBC was the last major market broadcaster to sign on for The Firm and after that Shaw confirmed they were making it for their own network (duh!). After NBC picks up Hannibal Sony’s AXN confirms they are involved (again, duh!). It is a sort of cat-and-mouse because things perceived to be American usually command more money but NBC isn’t exactly commissioning or making these shows though their creators are Americans.

Only with NBC can the French word for “egg” be spelt “ceuf”. Idiots.

If Sony wants more and it is a hit for them then AXN’s many small markets could possibly over-ride the USA as the scale-tipper. The Listener was a hit for CTV in Canada and even more so for FOX in much of the rest of the world so when NBC dropped it the show carried on without a US broadcaster; season 4 premieres Wednesday week-after-next. NBC would look a bit foolish to announce Hannibal is cancelled only to have AXN announce 4 hours later that season 2 production will commence in August.

I’m always surprised on how much BBT is adjusted up all the time!

  • bugeyedjim

@cherie trending on twitter does not mean it is more popular than a show. All it means is that the fans that watch it use twitter a lot. If twitter mean viewers big bang theory would blow up twitter. It says alot that supernatural being 8 seasons in pulls more overall viewers than tvd. Internationally supernatural probably does well it even has its own anime. No cw show has ever gotten an animated series also.

When will we see the final ratings for the season from Nielsen? I’m really looking forward to seeing the final ratings for some of my favorite shows. :)

I really am looking forward to seeing The Big Bang Theory in the top 5, Castle moving up and a few other shows’ final positions.

Well look at the bright side Hannibal fans- At least it tied the VAMPIRE DIARIES lol

I will stand by what I said even before the show premiered! The nail in the coffin for this show was casting the unlikable unknown Hugh Dancy. Nobody really knows him (mainstream) and he is like 4 or 5th billed on all his films (never a staring role) and does tons of English period films (THEY DONT BREAK THE BOX OFFICE). His only major film was Confessions Of a Shopaholic which was a huge flop for Disney/Touchstone. I could go one but he does not and never has had leading man potential. They really needed a bigger name (YES, Like Kevin Bacon) for this to work!

Another problem is even his looks. He’s not a ugly guy (not saying he is) but his looks are not as conventional as lets say…..Theo James? He doesn’t have the “Hollywood” looks and sadly he doesn’t have the kind of resume and respect from the general public much like Steve Busami (who can escape looking like that cause of his work) to get people to tune in. He wouldn’t even get the girls wanting to watch ONLY for him.

I watched the PILOT he really lacks any kind of charisma (in almost all his roles). I have been watching bits and pieces because I had no idea when Gillian Anderson was to come on so the past 4 weeks I flip between Scandal. The writing on this show is a mess and it comes off as a lame FOLLOWING rip off (Following won’t receive any writing awards, either). Almost like another NBC show DECEPTION was to A SUCCESFUL REVENGE.

Pretty much. Swap out Entertainment One for Gaumont. While Hannibal is made in Canada there is no Canadian production company or/and broadcaster involved with making it like Shaw was with The Firm.

Worth mentioning that NBC’s exposure/financial commitment on Hannibal is less than it was for The Firm. They’re paying much less per episode for Hannibal than they were for The Firm or indeed any other drama on their schedule. They were really the primary funder of The Firm which is why the show had no future without them. No other broadcaster and certainly the international market wasn’t willing or able to step into that funding gap. Hannibal’s financial load is much more evenly spread.
