CBS has decided to pull tonight's scheduled season finale of Mike & Molly and replace it with a repeat because the plot involves a tornado hitting Chicago. Executives decided the topic was too sensitive because of the tornado in Oklahoma City today. In a press release, a CBS spokesperson stated,"“Due to the tragic events this afternoon in Oklahoma, we are pre-empting tonight’s season finale of Mike & Molly, which has a related storyline. A repeat broadcast of ‘Mike & Molly’ will run in the time period. The season finale will be broadcast at an appropriate date.”

    Aw, CBS, how considerate.

This is so ridiculous. Natural weather disasters happen very often If a show I liked featured a hurricane very soon after Sandy, it wouldn’t bother me. Besides, I doubt those people even have electricity.

Just ridiculous only in America do we preempt stuff for stupid reasons like this.

  • Oliver

This is hilarious (unlike the show).

  • Melissa

    This is ridiculous.

    Political correctness run amuck?

  • tim_m

    @JJF more like to insanity.

So Hawaii Five-0 will have a Mike & Molly repeat as lead-in ? The Show is not able to get a 2.0 with a new episode lead-in so how low will it fall without it ?

Just so everyone knows, this is looking like one of the worst tornadoes on record in several ways, and horribly tragic- with hospitals, entire housing editions, and elementary schools leveled. A school full of teachers and third graders has only so far found one little boy and one teacher- the teacher needing immediate emergency care. I understand this may not seem like an important happening for many of you, but it is bad enough to now be considered a national event. Many cannot find their children, their parents, and nearly an entire city, a “suburb” of this state’s capitol is destroyed. Please show some respect. And a big thank you CBS.

in other news, there’s 95 people dead from Irak and people doesn’t care.

This makes much more sense than when they pulled an episode of Hannibal about children killing children since that’s insensitive to the Boston Bombing victims. That, I’ll never understand. Still, this isn’t necessary. Just air the show and if people are offended, they’ll tune out.

    Don’t be mean.

  • CBSviewer

    When will it air ?

  • DW

yeah from last i heard they cant find a class of third graders. not the best time for a comedy dealing with a tornado. and its out of sensitivity not political correctness. there was a plane mishap in the 80s and ABC pulled the concord airport 79 a few days afterword so its not just a recent thing that nets pull shows.

Hmm, @jean, kind of random and unrelated to the OP or in fact anything else following it. I don’t even know what you’re talking about, but as I’m sure I would love to know your point- which I must admit appears quite elusive- it may be helpful to me if you used correct grammar when expressing your thoughts. :-)

I’m so glad people aren’t this politically correct here in Germany. This is utter crap – pulling an episode of a television show because of real-life events?! Something like that really only happens in America. I’m speechless.

  • MichaelChickless

    Uh oh for H50!

  • David

This wouldn’t happen here in the UK, I understand it may be a tragic time but c’mon. Like SJ said – utter crap.

This is ridiculous on two counts ..

    1. They pulled it … get over yourselves, shiatsu massage happens.

    2. Some idiot said “ok, lets have a MAY finale with a tornado theme … what are the odds there’ll be a tornado in the US in May anyways?”

What a bunch of maroons …
